Should the US be the worlds police force.

Everyone is up in the air about our withdrawal from Syria. But really why were we there in the first place.

IMO there is no reason for the US to be a police force for the whole world. It gets young American service men killed!!!!

In the middle east the fools over there have been killing each other for centuries. Let them continue without us!!!
Keep a couple of carriers over there, one in the Med and one in the Gulf to help protect our true ally Israel, and let the rest of the fools kill one another off. It improves the worlds gene pool.

There's reasons why the USA has become the 'world's policeman'. Nazi Germany upset the system especially for the imperial powers. Europe was laid prostrate and couldn't rise to it's leading position again. The US rose to the occasion by it's intervention to save Europe from itself and from a now new evil menace Soviet Russia. After the 2nd World War, it was the only nation in 1945 who could dictate to the world, especially having the atomic bomb in it's arsenal. The US took over the positions and interest of Britain and France who were now too weak to exert themselves with their own resources.

No one else came out of WWII in any kind of position to project military might, and the United States had a vested (and legitimate) national interest in replacing the global power structure of old world European empires with a cooperative/co-optive “modern” global power structure that favored American influence. So when dirty jobs needed to be done, or America could persuade the rest of the old empires they needed to be done, American volunteered.The US with it's vast power was now out of isolation and got in everybody's business. Now we have imperial holdings all over the world and those we protect under various guises and myths.
