So much for separation of church and state, that's been squashed bigly.

That is what you'll find currently on the front page of the State Department's website.

U.S. Department of State - United States Department of State

Seriously, this administration doesn't care how many horrible things it does, it just does as it pleases.

What does this have to do with the Constitution?

I've seen nothing in that document about "separation of church and state".

???

What does this article about "religious displays" have to do with Pompeo's speech?

Seriously...you aren't making any sense here.

Putting that on the landing page of the State Dept. website is a religious display. You do know what a "display" is, right? It is showing a federally sanctioned preference for one religion, which is not allowed.

???

It is NOT a "religious display". It's a link to a speech he gave.

In any case, there's nothing in the Constitution that says he cannot give a speech to a religious organization or make that speech available on the government website.

My god the ignorance.

When you go to the website the first thing that is DISPLAYED is the screenshot provided in the OP. Get it? Display?

Jeezuz on a cracker.

He has no working idea of what is in the Constitution.

Ah, a Constitutional scholar has arrived. Please dazzle me with your brilliance as to why and how this violates the Constitution

It's the gov't directly promoting a specific religion w/tax payer dollars.

Clearly it's not something you'd ever care about.

How is that a religious display. Its a photo of Pompeo, not Jesus.

You do realize displays can contain words too right? There were words on that photo. I assume since you type in English here you can read them.

The Constitution doesn't say anything about "seperation of church and state".

Y'all really need to read it vice going on what you've been told...lol

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

I suspect you are going to want an explanation of plain English now.

Stuff like this has already been beaten down in the courts. I've already linked an article about religious displays.

Oh, What law was Pomeo making respecting the establishment of religion or prohibition or free exercise thereof? I missed that part.

Is Pompeo now a member of Congress? Has Pompeo made a law "respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"?

Not that I know of.

Religious Displays and the Courts | Pew Research Center

According to the court, the law violated the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause, which prohibits government from establishing a religion and from favoring one religion over another, or from favoring religion generally over nonreligious beliefs.

Establishment Clause | Wex | US Law | LII / Legal Information Institute

The First Amendment's Establishment Clause prohibits the government from making any law “respecting an establishment of religion.” This clause not only forbids the government from establishing an official religion, but also prohibits government actions that unduly favor one religion over another. It also prohibits the government from unduly preferring religion over non-religion, or non-religion over religion.

A politicians belief has nothing to do with the Constitution or the separation of Church and State. Maybe you should actually read the constitution before you comment on it.

NEWS FLASH, Pompeo isn't the government. He has freedom of speech and freedom of religion just like everyone else. What are you going to say next? Politicians can't go to church because they are favoring one religion over another.

This continuing reaching for the ridiculous looks pretty desperate.

This is not about his religion, it's about what is being displayed on a federal government website.

Please try to keep up, the thread is not that long.

He gave this tardspeech at an official State Dept event. Using taxpayer dollars.

It's clearly a violation of the Establishment Clause to any rational adult.
