This is the crap Kaepernick was protesting. He specifically talked about poorly trained police officers shooting Black people.

In this case, if the officer thought there was a threat, they could have retreated. They don't teach these officers to retreat. It's shoot and ask questions later.

Atatiana Koquice Jefferson, 28, was killed around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after a neighbor called dispatchers to report the woman's front door was open, police said.
James Smith, Jefferson's neighbor, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram he called a non-emergency police number when he saw her doors open and lights on in the early morning hours. Officers arrived and parked near but not in front of the residence, police spokesman Lt. Brandon O'Neil said Sunday at a news conference.
The officers were searching the perimeter of the woman's home when they saw a person standing inside near a window and one of them opened fire, killing her, police said.
Jefferson's 8-year-old nephew was in the room with Jefferson when the shooting occurred, O'Neil said. Merritt said Jefferson was playing video games with the boy.

We don't think that Fort Worth police should be investigating it on their own,

Of course the police departments shouldn't investigate their own, they are notorious for protecting their own.

This was very poor training and I hope justice is served.

Our new norm... someone calls the police to check on a neighbor, police show up and look around for the first engagement they can find, draw guns at the ready, shoot to kill, and call it a day.

When is enough really enough or is everyone okay with serve and protect really meaning forget about questions or reason, don't identify yourself, aim to kill... write a report later?

"Blue lives matter" BS incoming in 3...2...1...

We need independent investigators to look into every police killing.

It's wrong to assume the police are always at fault, but there have been too many times that no charges have been brought when the fact indicated there should have been charges.

How dare you question the "just us" system? ;)

Charge him with murder...it won't end until the police finally accept they are not above the law.

Is it going to take a lethal injection to make the penny drop ?

And you know the victim was shot and killed because of racism how?

I don't believe she was shot because the officers were racist. I believe this problem of poorly trained officers shooting people mostly affects minorities because their communities are more policed and officers are more on edge.

I believe the problem continues to exist because Black Lives don't matter. If more White people were getting gunned down by trigger happy cops, something would be done. But when people like Kaepernick point to this problem, they're considered unpatriotic and anti-police.

Our police are poorly trained. If someone hasn't shot at you, you should take cover not start shooting.

Probably selection bias. White gets accidentally shot by white cop, might not even hear about it.

statistically speaking this is going to happen sometimes. The bulk of the stats do not suppprt some kind of gunning after blacks narrative.

This cop knew a mistake like thst is going to cost hm dearly, it’s almost 100% certain to a panick accident.

The problem is that it's not murder. It's an accident. The problem is the officer is poorly trained. This is manslaughter.

That Amber woman was off duty so that was murder.

I agree with you that police training is very poor, and this incident (assuming we have all the important facts) is inexcusable.

But did you know that far more white people are killed by the police than black people? It's true that the per capita rate is higher for black people (which can have several explanations) but white people are absolutely not immune to police brutality.

Maybe if more white people knew that, and if the police brutality problem was not always framed as a race issue, something would be done.

Dang.
You gotta give a person a second to respond.

**** the hard of hearing, I guess.

This has been going on for a long time. Cameras are finally capturing what Blacks have been reporting for decades.

I've seen this stuff with my own eyes. I was a kid getting into a van full of Black people. It was a commuter van. A cop wanting to give the van a ticket stepped in front of the van and pulled out his gun aiming it at a van full of people. I bet he was never reported. I could have ended up being hit by a bullet.

That's what the whole "Black Lives Matter" protest is about. When it's a Black person, nothing is changed to solve the problem. It doesn't matter.

You say you do not think it was racist but in the very next paragraph, by your words, counter that statement.

As to the accusation in the OP that cops are taught to shoot first and ask questions later, that is pure crap, no force teaches that. This cop was either poorly trained or forgot all his training at the moment. He shot right after saying put your hands up, not waiting for a reaction to do so and he clearly could not see who it was he shot, just a shape. That shooting was against everything taught and he should be dismissed from the force and held responsible.

I think the racism is that nothing is done about this problem because it mostly affects Black and brown people. I don't think the police officer acted with racist intent.

I've seen these police training scenarios and they are often shown how quickly a suspect can draw and kill them. They scare the hell out of the officers.

So lets start with the part we probably agree with. This absolutely appears to be a case of negligent homicide. Dood should be arrested tried and go to prison. Unjustified.

But here is why this becomes a 'cause' and something that spins off into something that fails to address the actual problems. There are some 12 million police contacts in any given year. There are around 1.37 million cops. And...

OK...so I can post all the data I can post the facts...FACTS that prove that the argument that white cops are targeting black victims and therefore this is all racist and black lives matter, and blah blah blah...but why bother? This dance gets done to death. Some cops **** up. White cops do. Black cops do. Any time a white cop ****s up, rather than have it held up for what it is...a **** up...and something they should be held accountable for, people do their best to turn it into race and racist and racism...because in their sad petty pathetic existence unless they are ****ing up our country and doing their best to tear us apart they arent doing their jobs. So...

I'm not going to bother. I'm just going to post the database that tracks ALL police shootings resulting in deaths and let you read it if you choose to. It allows you to break everything down into race, perpetrators, armed, unarmed, fleeing, attacking, or even just the actual instances of real victims of police incompetence or even actual criminal behavior.

Happy searching. Or...in lieu of dealing with the actual facts...happy race baiting.

the argument that white cops are targeting black victims and therefore this is all racist and black lives matter, and blah blah blah

That's not the argument. That's a nice straw man you built and stuffed and attacked with your facts.

The argument is that this happens more often to Blacks and because Black lives don't matter nothing is done. This has been going on for decades. Now try and address the actual argument.

But when. It happens over and over. This post was from Australian Woman. I am the chosen one.

The guy panicked. More should have been done to communicate with whoever was inside. It was another case of a cop overreacting when he could have determined that nothing was amiss. It happens and, considering the number of police interactions with the public, it happens in a tiny percentage of cases. It also happens to all races, not just blacks, although they are involved in higher percentages. However, they are involved in higher per capita interactions overall as well, both those that have no violent outcome and those that do. The difference now is that we have cell phones and body cams and every incident gets played up in the media, which creates a perception that it's some sort of epidemic.

And you know the victim was shot and killed because of racism how?

Find us a story or a video of a white person shot in the back while retreating or during a traffic stop and lets talk, shall we?

I'm not taking the side of this stupid cop, but declaring that this is a case of racism is a tad premature.

But carry on... if it makes your day.

"This is the crap Kaepernick was protesting. He specifically talked about poorly trained police officers shooting Black people."

And I specifically listed the reasons why that was pure rhetorical bull**** and provided you the resources to determine for yourself the facts and all you managed to do is prove how deeply bought into the rhetorical bull**** you are.

So..bye...
