A side note, being blind is no excuse for ordering crappy pizza. He should find a better pizza place to order from.

I completely agree. They taste like cardboard.

Anyway I thought blind people had softwares for those kind of things?

I was going to say: how the hell does a website make itself blind-friendly?

But it occurred to me that you could require website operators who sell goods like that to have a function where you press a key - the same key on every website - to get an audio read out of a phone number to call. Then the person can call that.

Hell, you could simply require them to put the telephone number as the first thing on the site and if screwed with design the text could be in the same color as whatever is next to it. Then blind people could simply have text-to-speech applied to their browser, get the number, call, order their food.

If it really is just about not having access to online deals when you order by phone, that's easy to remedy without requiring any work.

But seriously...Domino's? I hated that even back in high school...

That makes sense. How hard can it be to make alt-text tags for images?
For a huge company like Dominos probably not that hard, but for a smaller mom and pop place I could see it being more difficult to cover that expense.

Disability activists notch win as Supreme Court declines case on Domino's Pizza website accessibility | TheHill

This case boils down to does the ADA pertain to a companies website or not?

Short recap a blind man sued Dominos because he was unable to use the companies website to order a pizza or cash in on the online only deals. Interested in others opinions.

You can't order pizza by phone ?

There are apparently deals offered only online, however I can't understand why Domino's wouldn't allow them to be honored if the person calling sais they were blind.

Oh crap, just give him some cardboard smeared with tomato-like sauce. Throw some Velveeta on it. Scraped off that crusty stuff off the top of the ketchup bottle. And tell him it is complimentary.

Easier if they're over the phone.

Amazon would also be guilty if this case wins...all on-line sites would.

Okay that was funny. :lamo (but pretty accurate)

Apparently they don't honor online only deals over phone.

You can. What you may miss out from time to time is the on line ordering specials or for walk ins.

I would bet if the blind person found a way to get to the Domino's or any Restaurant that has on line ordering that they have issues and asked to speak to the manager a solution could be reached. It could be as simple as creating a list of names with phone number of customers that are physical disabled in using the internet but can place phone orders. Those orders would be considered on line orders and any discounts would be applied.

Problem solved. No lawyers needed.

Ahhh ok. Well all i can say to that is it sucks to be blind. Is he gonna sue the DMV next for not giving him a drivers license.

Dont get me wrong i feel for the guy being blind but the idea that companies have to make all these accomidations has gotten out of hand.

I have gotten caught up in this before. The online site would not take my card number so i cslled it in and they would not give me the same deal. They have online offers only.

Do the driver licenses come with deals or discounts?

The system is not perfect. I personally won't order food through a web site.
