Donald Trump got "rolled" by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a National Security Council source with direct knowledge of the discussions told Newsweek.

In a scheduled phone call on Sunday afternoon between President Trump and President Erdogan, Trump said he would withdraw U.S. forces from northern Syria. The phone call was scheduled after Turkey announced it was planning to invade Syria, and hours after Erdogan reinforced his army units at the Syrian-Turkish border and issued his strongest threat to launch a military incursion, according to the National Security Council official to whom Newsweek spoke on condition of anonymity.

The U.S. withdrawal plays into the hands of the Islamic State group, Damascus and Moscow, and the announcement left Trump's own Defense Department "completely stunned," said Pentagon officials. Turkey, like the United States, wants regime change in Syria. Russia and Iran support the Assad regime.

"President Trump was definitely out-negotiated and only endorsed the troop withdraw to make it look like we are getting something—but we are not getting something," the National Security Council source told Newsweek. "The U.S. national security has entered a state of increased danger for decades to come because the president has no spine and that's the bottom line."

Well, IMO it is just another example of a non-elected partisan trying to affect policy by leaking information in violation of oaths and ethics. In this case it appears to be just slanderous opinion

These individuals are supposed to do their jobs. If the job is to advise the President, then offer counsel that differs to insure it is something considered before a President makes a decision. But the final decision should be the President's at which point either buck up and support him/her, or resign.

But this constant effort to undermine the Chief Executive simply because they think they know better has troubled me for years. The examples being set since 2016 are going to poison all future administrations.

Consider the possibility of an Administration YOU support, and then having a number of civil servants who oppose your candidate "leaking" information, asserting slanderous claims, doing everything possible to make that Administration fail from within. Don't think this example is going to stop here.

People who serve the system need to buck-up and do the job they were hired to do. Raise reasonable objection, but then when given your marching orders, do your job. If you can't then go look for another job. Let the President find someone who will work to support their policies.

Feel free to vote the President out at the end of four years.

There is no such thing as "deep state". That's a conspiracy theory concept just like global warming being Chinese hoax, staged US landing on the Moon, fake Holocaust, and 9/11 being staged.

I don't remember the above ever happening to any president, the deliberate leaking meant to undermine the president of the U.S.
What about the precedence all this partisan leaking is setting for the republic, no matter who sits in the WH? Are people this desperate to have their team take over?
I fear some are so invested in their witch hunt type politics, (whomever this unnamed NSC source is), that they are not giving any forethought to the harm they are doing to the republic. The fact that they don't even care is dangerous.

We are living in scary times.

He’s a part of an organized effort to finally “get” Trump. The two whistleblowers are a team. One is used to generate talk about the other, so what you have is a feedback loop designed for the media to feed on, yet in reality there is no new information just one boosting the other.

That is why I think the intelligence agencies are involved.

The Democrats have no shame.

Schumer dog-whistled the Deep State to take Trump done years ago, but the Democrats hoped to accomplish it via the Russian conspiracy witch-hunt.

Now that this has failed, they're resorting to using spies to take him down in a blatant coup attempt.

How is the president able to conduct business with a foreign leader?
What foreign leader will want to have a private conversation with the president knowing it will be front page news the next day.
Unless there is evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors, treason or bribery, the person is simply a deep state leaker, that should be fired.

The whole situation is a duel edge sword. We were there supportiing the kurds to fight ISIS. Now we are talking about the Turkey national army. that is not a terrorist organization.
To fight them that would be almost a declaration of war on turkey itself. Congress is not going to pass that measure.
I don't think trump had much of a choice. he could have kept troops there but then they would have been in possible danger if the turkish army pushed forward.

we are there to fight ISIS and terrorist not another country.

I have to agree and i actually saw an article on this as well. It is going to be impossible for the president to conduct business or any president for that matter.
no heads of state are going to have conversations as it will be plastered all over the news that next day. these conversations are supposed to be classified for a reason.

The crazy left doesn’t care. Look at the comments on this forum. It doesn’t matter what Trump does or doesn’t do, they want him out. They are still angry that he won. They wanted him out before he was sworn in. They realize the only way to prevent a second term is impeachment. They know they have no sane candidate to defeat Trump.
