I"m amazed at the lengths repubs go to defend, what is obviously incompetent, Trump's behavior.

Now repubs are saying Trump was "joking" or he was merely "trolling" or "needling" the press when he asserted on TV that China should investigate Biden, which is a crime, per FEC chairman and the Constitution.

Even if he were actually trolling the press, which he is not, is this appropriate behavior for the man who is the leader of the free world?

(and I know some repubs love it when Trump does it, but you don't realize that a good president tries to Unite the nation, and this just divides us, which is incompetence, in point of fact, whether you like it or not)

Either he's committing a crime, or he's totally incompetent, but the truth is, the real truth is, BOTH

I mean just listen to the guy, you don't hear "I'm a fool" ? Every time he opens his mouth, he sounds like a moron. You don't see or hear it? Amazing.

If that is your argument, then all you are revealing is that you guys are a bunch of incompetent, gullible, deceived, delusional, idiots, and PUTIN LOVES YOU

Say it isn't so, I mean, is this who you want to be? Really?

Doesn't really matter if he's committing his crimes ironically or not, he's been very open about them, they are documented, and it's time for him to go.

That's the narrative: He's just joking, needling the "fake news" press, and yanking the "liberals'" string.

Do Republicans see what he is doing to their party? The GOP will never be the same. The post Trump GOP has gone to POT, the Party of Trump.

Yeah i saw jim jordan make that argument today and he was talking out his ass. It does not matter if Trump was serious or not the key points was that he did not ask chins to do anything. He suggested that it would be good if they did. Secondly if he had asked them to it would not be a crime. Republ8cans should stop playing into the democrats hands with the dumb argument that he was only kidding.

In order to unite a people, that people needs to want to be united. Those who voted for Hillary will NEVER be satisfied with anything that Trump does. He realizes this and goes about his business without them, knowing he will never get their support and he never ever had a shot at getting their support. He could have stepped down from the office the day he was elected and still be a pariah amongst those who voted for Hillary. There was never a real chance for uniting the country, because quite frankly both sides DONT want to be united.

Sort of makes sense. A 'political pot party'

Or (Option 3) the head of the nations law enforcement (The President) can investigate anyone who he believes is involved with bribes to foreign countries. Did you think if Biden runs for president he was immune to any criminal activities he is involved in? Funny how the power of the office of president is completely lost on Democrats when they aren't in office.

Did you think that Barr and the DOJ just missed that part when they released the call transcript? They released it because the president has that power and he will continue to use it.

Did you ever wonder why Pelosi decided not to hold a vote in the House (as per protocol) to get an Impeachment Inquiry? She would have to provide evidence of a crime for them to vote on.

Says the party of 3 years of Impeachment investigations who have come up empty handed EVERY time. Thats pretty funny

The GOP is dead, like everything else Trump touches. Atlantic City says hello.

I wouldn't count them out, but their current form is very clearly dying.

At their core, the promotion of family, having a stable life, building a career, playing by the rules to get ahead, owning your own business, etc, is a very appealing message.

But ... the liberals (at least the younger generations of liberals) also appear to have taken up that exact same mantle (with their own spin and their own solutions of course, mostly centered around not being afraid to mix philosophies).

They would be a much better party without the conspiracy theories, the anti-woman stuff, and the racism and hopefully that is the only part of their philosophy that is truly dying

or im just a silly optimist

So you are going with the "Trump is above the law." defense? That is all that you said. Extortion and bribery are clearly felonies and no a President may not engage in them.

"He was just joking!" is the fallback position the GOP has used for 3 years now.

The reality is that in the 32 months that Trump has been president there have been "at least" 43 occasions that he has done something where excuses and explanations have been needed for his actions.

At some point, everyone has to consider that when "it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck". On more that 43 occasions, there have been statements that a duck was seen in that pond.

Asking people to disbelieve that it is a duck in the pond on more than 43 occasions is beyond what any rational person can be asked to do. What is even more incredible is that Trump supporters will continue to ask for the same disbelief for the next 10, 20, 50, 100, and even 1000 occasions.

Can anyone be that dumb?

When you say "repubs are saying", are you referring just to Rubio's comments to the press the other day or are there more republicans saying the exact same thing?

Just curious.

Thanks for the good laugh. To this day I wonder how the GOP convinces so many middle class and under folks they care about them? Mister off to the mountains with my mistress is now running for the republican party for president, really? There's no better choice than folks like this for the right?

How they convince their base to vote against their own best interests election after election is beyond me.

The reality is that this disunity started with the Republicans when Obama (a Black man) was elected.

The difference is that with Obama it was racism. Obama "tried" to unify but the republicans did not want to unify because they thought Obama was not as good as them. With Trump, he has "not tried" to unify because he knows that people will never accept a liar, a con man, a man with a lack of morals, ethics, principles or humanity. If Trump were to show he is none of those, unity would be possible.

Yup, and so much of it was the horrible realization that the WASP was losing ground as the default person in the country. Suddenly, they look around and realized America CHANGED while nobody was paying attention (hint: literally everyone else was paying attention) and, now, omfg, they have to save whats theirs or make it great again.

No, I'm going with.

For some strange reason the allegations of any quid pro quo with Zelensky have now vanished. That ship sailed when the transcript of Trump’s call with the Ukrainian leader offered no evidence that the president was offering military aid as a carrot, which was the initial allegation.

Now Democrats insist that no quid pro quo is needed to prove a high crime or misdemeanor occurred during the phone call. Instead, they insist, this is a question of an illegal campaign contribution. You mean to tell me the closest thing the Democrats can pin to the president is a vague campaign finance violation?

Their answer is that Joe Biden is running for president. Their entire argument for impeachment now rests on the idea that Biden’s candidacy makes him immune to any criminal activities or any investigation. Democrats are now trying to impeach the president on this basis, even without pointing to a specific law that would state a crime exist?

I told you this over a week ago and everything I told you has come to pass. I told you the quid pro quo would fall to the side as they will find something else to pin their hopes on. But you wouldn't listen then, and you won't listen now.

Just as I predicted, this is falling apart as fast as it started and when Democrats decide the power of the office of president is the same no matter who is in office, your life will be much easier instead of pinning your hopes on failed Impeachment attempts over and over and over.

You forgot to mention the claim that he has lied over 10,000 times as well.

Whats more accurate to say is that the Democrats have made accusations of wrong doing from him 43 times. Yet they still only threaten to impeach but dont follow through.

Im open to them making a formal case against this president and weighing out their claims against his but until they do that, its all just noise.

Yup, Senator Blunt is also workshopping the "Can't you guys take a joke?" defense. That will not work either.

Nonsense. You already told everyone that you don't care what crimes or treason Trump commits, as long as he "pisses in liberals cheerios", you're happy. That is irrational, and antagonistic, and we can't really govern if that's the general sentiment. Government would fall, we'd go to war. Since you oppose liberals, there is nothing to discuss, because you're pissing in cheerios. A man with the means and will to pursue nearly anything our life has to offer, and you simply indulge aggravating fellow Americans. Can't discuss policy, can't discuss crimes, can't discuss compromise, can't discuss moderation, can't discuss a less corrupt government, etc...because you already admitted what we know about many Trump supporters, they aren't being reasonable, they are just opposed emotionally to "the opposition".

You didn't vote for Trump to oppose Hillary, you said you voted for Trump because he hates on liberals like a champ.

If you hired someone who got caught lying to you on a matter of importance, you'd fire them immediately. But here you are supporting a criminal, compulsively lying, power-abusing, hateful, scorched-earth President of the United States.
Maybe if you realize that bowl of Cheerios is our nation, and you're pissing where you sleep, you might consider your behavior less than ideal.

If anything the text messages have revealed even more evidence of the pay to play scam Trump was running. And no just because Trump has brought himself new charges by asking China to investigate Biden and Warren does not mean Ukraine is no longer a crime.

The texts reveal that the pressure campaign was presented this July as a quid pro quo — if Ukraine committed to these investigations, the US would agree to a White House meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky. For weeks, these State officials tried to get Zelensky to publicly announce he was conducting these investigations, in exchange for the meeting — but Zelensky apparently refused. (The Bidens are never mentioned by name in these texts, “Burisma” is used instead, but Trump was not so careful when talking to Zelensky on the phone in July
The texts get even uglier in late August and early September. That’s when Trump’s decision to hold up $400 million in military aid for Ukraine entered the discussion. One State diplomat, Bill Taylor, twice raised concerns that this was connected to Trump’s demands for investigations and with US politics. And, twice, Ambassador Gordon Sondland responded by urging him to talk on the phone rather than by text message.

Are we now saying that security assistance and WH meeting are conditioned on investigations?” Taylor wrote on September 1. “Call me,” Sondland answered.

With the Senate full of Trump supporters that are selfish in thinking of their own futures rather than the country's, impeachment does not offer any chance of success other than showing the population the abuse of power that Trump has done. Abuse of power is only a crime that applies to the presidency and with the Republicans and the president saying repeatedly through misinformation and lies, it is more difficult to prove without a shadow of a doubt.

In addition, they are thinking about the risk of trying to do something with no chance of success because of self-interest of the Republican Senators and ending up with another 4 years of the worst president ever.

It isn't easy, especially when "supposedly" intelligent and patriotic people such as the Republicans were at some point in the not too distant past are now blind and deaf to what their president is doing. Self-interest also applies.

It constantly gets worse as Trump is truly one of the most incompetent person that has ever lived so ultimately it will get done (Trump impeached or gone). Nonetheless, this is one of those puzzles that if not put together well, it will not be understood by everyone.

Forgive me if I don't just take someones word for it. We have everything but the actual text, don't we. We have a variety of what people think but when you can provide the text. let me know. Kind of tired of claim after claim that never actually comes true.
