Wall Street Democratic donors may back Trump if Warren is nominated

Democratic donors on Wall Street and in big business are preparing to sit out the presidential campaign fundraising cycle — or even back President Donald Trump — if Sen. Elizabeth Warren wins the party’s nomination.
In recent weeks, CNBC spoke to several high-dollar Democratic donors and fundraisers in the business community and found that this opinion was becoming widely shared as Warren, an outspoken critic of big banks and corporations, gains momentum against Joe Biden in the 2020 race.

Beta is going to drive most of the gun owners away and lieyawatha is going to drive the elite fat cats away. . I love it

Good. Appeasing Wall Street leads to feckless democrats and a government that favors the rich and not the people.

Soros will fund her. He will probably be dead by next time so might as well go all in.

Beta is looking for a cabinet position. Maybe he can bang the drums during the Dem's coffee breaks, and Elizabeth Warren sealed her own fate....Back to plagiarizing cookbooks?

A tax on wealth would be economically destructive, fiscally ineffective, and possibly unconstitutional

Sadly for you almost all the star wars bar patrons masquerading as potential Democrat contenders are fat cats. And you all get millions from Wall Street "filthy rich" types.

inequality is on the rise even with the Best of Tax Cut economics times.

We should be solving simple poverty to increase market based participation in our capital markets.

More people circulating more capital can only lead to a positive multiplier effect.

Don't count on that. He was one of the first to raise an alarm about her. He's a devout capitalist, and gun running is a growing business.

Care to place a bet on that?

He is 89 and Warren's daughter works for Demos, one of his political policy organizations....sort of a progressive version of ALEC....chairs it as a matter of fact.

He has what? three mansions? a net worth over 2 million dollars? Hardly a real fat cat, but hardly the "common man"

How Bernie Sanders, The Socialist Senator, Amassed A $2.5 Million Fortune

Means nothing. He has not taken a single penny from a billionaire or a super pac. His entire campaign is funded by individual donors. He is not beholden to corporate interests and will fight for the middle class and the poor. He will fight against the crony capitalism that is harming the vast majority of Americans. Warren is great, but Bernie is the real choice for change; he is the real choice for the people.

He's goofy and senile and his performance in the "debates" has been abysmal. He attracts people who want to blame others for their lack of success. Warren's a complete joke and a hypocrite and when Wall Street Speaks, the Democrat masters listen

We only have the whole "lieawatha" thing because after the housing crash warren was calling for heads to roll and what she was saying was resonating with people on both sides. I predicted they'd go after her. I'm both pleased they could only find that and dismayed anybody cared.

He speaks to and represents the people. He cares about workers, not the lizards on Wall Street. His debate performances have been amazing, and he is speaking truth to power. He has the most comprehensive and progressive plans of any candidate and is head and shoulders above everyone else, including Warren. The days of the rich exploiting the working class are numbered.

Funny how, if you read Mr. Schwartz's ABOUT page, the collection of stories he's worked on are, in and of themselves, collectively an object lesson as to why that might be the dumbest thing they could do.
Wall Street is just as fallible as most institutions if abused.
"Wall Street Lays An Egg" - - old 1929 headline.
Some of them might indeed sit out the election, so be it.
Some might throw to Trump. Probably less however it means they were okay with all the crap he pulled all along anyway.

To what should we owe such a tradeoff? What is in this for moderate Dems anyway? I know what TD thinks..."doesn't matter", right?

Just be honest, dude.
Because you're implying that backing Biden instead is the way to go, and with Liz, here be monsters.
And I don't believe it because I smell something behind this bluster.
I smell Trump fear of Liz Warren.

Thank you. Thank you for that :)

PS: Besides, I thought you connies were incensed at even the very notion of liberal elite fat cats.
Nary a day goes by without some chain email blurb about Bernie's hypocrisy, right?

Aren't you expecting us to just bow our heads in shame and vote for Trump anyway?
Wet dream's over, buddy.

I think within 20 years, the Democrats will drive anyone who is a net tax payer who is NOT RICH due to the government out of their party. what did Dame Thatcher say? Socialism sounds good until you run out of other peoples' money. The dems keep promising more and more to the the dependent class-somewho do nothing for society but yet vote Democrat in order to keep their support intact. "free college" free healthcare free this free that.

Bernie hasn't changed his mantra since like forever. He lost to Hillary and the DNC will never let him grab the golden ring. Bernie is old news and the Squad doesn't care for him. He's toast.

"The Democrats in the period from the late ’30s into the early ’70s were much more willing than they are now to make at least some concessions to working class interests. But the only reason they were willing to do this is because of the militant strikes and vast growth in unions — pushed from below by workers. The elites in this country were forced to make some concessions — like the signature programs of the New Deal — and the Democrats were the vehicle for that. Since the late ‘70s, however, with the Democrats turn to neoliberal policies they have decided to orient more to the professional-managerial class and suck up funds from Wall Street and certain segments of the capitalist elite (as in high tech and entertainment industries)." -- Tom Wetzel, Labor Union Organizer

Looks like they are now abandoning the capitalist elite too. It's almost as if anyone with a job is a problem whether a laborer or a Wall Streeter.

Yep, we pay our public 'servants' quite well - not many are outside the top 5% to 10%.
It's not on his paycheck. Like professional athletes, it's the endorsements. In Bernie's case that would be speaker fees, book royalties, etc. This is legitimate. After 40 years, he's made a couple million.

Some want to make money faster.
