Pelosi Not Budging on Impeachment and Her Colleagues Are Privately Screaming

supporting him and voting for him are not the same.

Trump won with 46% of the vote last time. That 40 you speak to will all vote for him. That means that only 6% of ALL other voters need to vote for him. Only 6%.

Trump only needs to convince 6% that they should vote against a DEm even if they don't like him. Seems to me he will be easily reelected.

It wasn’t “easily” last time. If he wins it won’t be easily this time. He is trailing Biden, Warren and Sanders by double digits in the swing states he won by the skin of his teeth. I don’t see how a failed impeachment is going to hurt him with voters whose minds could change.

impeachment is hopeless. defeat Mango first. then a real investigation without obstruction is possible.

Last time he did not have the unmovable 40% that he has today so it is easier.

This 40% are a mindless army, resolute and willing to die for their fuhrer.

Nancy Pelosi Not Budging on Impeachment and Her Colleagues Are Privately Screaming

This is truly pathetic. Trump abuses his office to target Democrats and rubs Pelosi's nose in it like a dog.

We've talked endlessly about what Republican leaders will tolerate from Trump, but what we aren't discussing enough is what Democratic leaders are tolerating from him.

They are the majority. There is no excuse not impeach to him. The line has been crossed. Don't give me this "well, Republicans will never convict him" because by that logic, Pelosi shouldn't bring a single bill to the floor, since McConnell will never let it come up for a vote, right?

And don't give me this crap that "kitchen table issues" are the buzz around America, because Pelosi hasn't done a damn thing to make that the Democratic message. No, she's talked endlessly about what a criminal Trump is, and then runs and hides when her bluff is called.

If you're too afraid to impeach a President that is recruiting foreign assistance for next years election to beat you, and is breaking the law to conceal it, you're a pathetic loser that deserves to go down in history as Trump's greatest accomplice during his reign of debauchery.

Maybe Pelosi isn't as Radical as many have said over the years?

Pelosi has good idea what’s in the IG report to be released in 4 or 5 weeks.

Pelosi has good idea what’s in Durham Report to be released in a few months.

Moving ahead on impeachment vote before the release of these 2 reports would be political suicide....Pelosi knows that.

That’s not exactly right. His mindless army is probably about 25 percent. The rest is with him but their support is more tentative.

Don't I pray you are right.

Sadly,....

I totally agree with you. I'm pissed off about how weak and pathetic Democrats are behaving. Trump is doing whatever he wants and laughing at them. And the Democrats are still holding these absurd hearings with totally uncooperative witnesses.

Democrats are like nerdy hall monitors saying, "Stop, you can't do that. I'm going to write you up," while the jocks give them a wedgie.

If you play scared you lose. You impeach Trump because you believe he is guilty of impeachable acts not because you think it will be politically popular.

At least it would look like we had some balls. Jerry Nadler was an embarrassment the other day, and the fact that nothing has happened yet to Lewandowski is an even bigger embarrassment. He played the committee like a cheap fiddle and the GOP is pointing and laughing while we do NOTHING but let him get away with it.

And if anyone here thinks for one second that Trump will not be re-elected, I have a bridge to sell you. He has been plotting and conniving for months to steal the 2020 election, working with foreign governments to help sway things to their side. And why shouldn’t he? He clearly did it in 2016 and nothing happened.

He is being rewarded for bad behavior. We are doing nothing. I am so sick and tired of all this. I’ve Had serious thoughts about leaving the board and cancelling my cable subscription, because I am sick of my country spiraling down the drain, and the blue wave that I voted for, sitting on their hands and doing nothing.

We are jokes. We are laughing stocks, and I’m just about done with all of it. We are a bunch of ******s. We are letting the GOP run roughshod over us and we are just sitting around, playing nice.

I’m seriously thinking of taking a break from all of it. I’m just too angry.

Pelosi is arguably the most politically astute person in D.C.; her political prowess over the decades is legendary.

There's a reason for this; the woman is not only one of the smartest living politicians, she understands democratic voters better than just about anyone on the planet.

Should Trump be impeached for high crimes & misdemeanors? Of course. Does the House have the votes to do so? Probably. Would impeaching Trump mere months, perhaps weeks, before Nov. 2020 do anything whatsoever to assist Democratic candidates maintain their seats in 2020 and garner new ones? Nope. Would Trump actually be convicted by the Senate and removed from office mere months, perhaps weeks, before Nov. 2020? Of course not. Never. Not even if every GOP Senator was promised a personal lap-dancer for life with daily/hourly blow jobs on demand.

So what in whatever God one worships' name would be the freaking point? Democrats have everything to lose, and not even the slightest possibility of winning.

If Trump isn't re-elected, I suspect there will be a line of indictments and arrest warrants waiting outside the WH in January of 2021; problem solved. If Trump is indeed re-elected, then the House has had an extra year or two to get their impeachment investigation strategy in line to convince the general public with incontrovertible evidence that this president is corrupt to the core; if the damned general public doesn't care and has already re-elected Trump, America has bigger problems than any impeachment could resolve in less than a generation. It will prove that American citizens don't care about having a corrupt government as long as the corruption gives them what they personally want.

So y'all tell me, what could possibly be the upside for the Democrats and the American people of wasting the next year on a fool's errand instead of working on healthcare and other issues that we know the majority of Americans desperately want, pointing at Moscow Mitch and the GOP Senate when Americans are denied what they want, and using that obstructionism as a campaign platform for the entire Democratic 2020 Platform?
100% correct. It so happens that politics coincides perfectly with her view of the House role for impeachment. She has always felt any impeachment move had to reflect a broad base, bipartisan decision that the President needed to be ousted throughout the nation and in Congress. That kind of unity has not existed since Watergate.

An importance difference between then and now is that the Watergate hearings brilliantly and for the first time, in large part, exposed Nixon’s corruption. Hearings now will merely add confirming evidence to what is already known...and largely accepted.

Look like we had some balls??? What were you expecting ...Lewendowski to be hauled off in chains?

I expect that Barry Burke just torpedoed Lewendowski's New Hampshire Senate run. That should be enough for Lewendowski for now.

That said, Nadler is awful. Most of the dems on that committee are awful if the measure is their abilities regarding questioning witnesses in committee.

Most of the blame goes to Nadler who has to this point made a mess of things. The only solid work he has done has been to get a Consultant, Burke on the panel acting sort of like a Committee Chief Counsel to conduct a 30 minute block of questioning which in the last hearing left Lewendowski with his pants around his ankles.

Problem is that Burke had to go last. Well he didn't have to go last. Nadler made him go last which forced us to sit through endless hours of ridiculously ineffective questioning from the Congressmen on the panel. In fact, I am to this point pretty well convinced that Pelosi's reluctance to take a formal Impeachment process vote to the floor is based in the certain knowledge that the rest of her caucus is watching this clown show as well and are well nigh scared crapless that we will get the same clown show under the auspices of a formal Impeachment inquiry which will end up worse to the power of three, just for that alone.

Get a clue Jerry! Shape up that mess of a committee and stop yammering "this is impeachment". Its not and you know its not. Have you had a vote on the floor up or down to initiate formal Impeachment hearings? NOOOOOO....you have not Jerry.

You are likely to win your court battles but not because you think you can hypnotize some Judge into believing you have had a floor vote to a formal Impeachment Hearing when all the Judge has to do is CHECK THE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD. Have you checked the Congressional Record Jerry? I don't see a vote there. I don't even see Pelosi allowing a procedural vote yet Jerry....cause she knows better.

Look ALL the way back to Sam Irvins actual Watergate hearing which by the way WERE NOT IMPEACHMENT hearings. See how that was run and stop dicking around. Stop your majority panel of Dems from dicking around.

I swear to God Nadler is fast catching up to my current least effective Dem on the Hill, Chuck Shumer and will soon pass Shumer in that regard like he is standing still if Jerry keeps this up.

I am tired, nug. I am tired. Beyond tired. I am in the middle of trying to remodel a 4,000 sf home and I can’t find a handyman. I am in grad school. My two younger daughters are in undergrad. My husband is in the hospital since May and my 3rd, oldest daughter is causing an infinite amount of drama all on her own.

I have been a close follower of politics for years. I have immersed myself in it for probably 20 years. But I am just tired of all of this. I am tired of the GOP biting and scratching and urinating all over the constitution, and the Democrats doing nothing. Nothing. I honestly think I need a break from politics.

This probably isn’t the place for that but for letting off steam without anyone knowing who matters, it does the trick.

I don't blame you. Take a break. I need a break too.

I'm sick of Democrats doing nothing.

It's a good time to take a break because things are going to explode as we near 2020.
