Powerful Sand Hook Promise Video

The problem isn’t knowing or recognizing the signs in many of the school shootings, it’s getting the schools, parents, and courts to act on them.

This packs a real punch.

Campaign - Sandy Hook Promise

I suspect the gun worshippers among us may not like it much. But it is amazing.

You still don't understand that supporting the 2nd amendment/owning guns/being against massive gun control does not equal support of murder, let alone the mass murder of an entire classroom of 6 year olds. To equate them is dishonest, anti-intellectual and downright disgusting.

Of course it’s true and if you aren’t willing to support the necessary restrictions then the least you can do is have the courage of your convictions to admit that the wholesale slaughter of children is the price you’re willing to pay to own a piece. Because it’s just a fact.

^^ This is lunacy.

Campaign - Sandy Hook Promise

I suspect the gun worshippers among us may not like it much. But it is amazing.

I watched the video this morning. Nicole Hockley was a guest on MSNBC this morning and showed it. She lost her 6-year-old son, Dylan in the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook School.

I applaud men and women whose children were murdered at Sandy Hook for getting out and being activists for gun control. It's been a horrible time for those parents, many of whom have been targets of hatred. When a parent's child has had their body ripped into pieces in a horrible death, those parents shouldn't be subjected to hate mongering, threats on their lives and media scrutiny and judgements.

Jeremy Richman was the father of 5 year old Avielle Richman who was murdered at Sandy Hook. Richman founded the Avielle Foundation, dedicated to preventing violence and building compassion through brain research, community engagement and education. Jeremy Richman committed suicide last March. He suffered survivor guilt and PTSD. Jeremy Richman was the 3rd such suicide. Just days earlier, the city of Parkland, Florida, was rocked by two apparent suicides involving survivors of a gunman's rampage on Valentine's Day 2018 that killed 17 students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Why are parents and family of slain children forced to pick up the gauntlet and fight for gun legislation when this should be a bipartisan issue? It shouldn't be a political tug of war between the NRA, Congress, the family of victims and the American public. This should be an easy choice, YES we need new gun legislation even if it's just something palliative that the Congress comes up with to quiet down the uproar until the next mass murder. Do something, even if it's just for show. But Jesus Christ, people need to come together on this issue. Kids are being traumatized by the fears of being murdered in their classrooms. I hardly recognize this country anymore, it's not the same one I grew up in.

Yet the Left support the wholesale slaughter of children by the millions. They don't even get to own anything from it.

This is ultimately the root of the issue and the moral decay of society. This idea that guns are the problem seems rather ridiculous to those of us who went to school with parking lots full of guns without any fear of a shooting.

I never went to any school that even had a school guard much less 'parking lots full of guns'. Even the cop on the beat didn't carry a weapon other than a billy-club.

Maybe you're referring to murdering hundreds of children in Yemen with bombs made in the USA to support a regime --Saudi Arabia because they're paying off Jared Kushner and the US weapons manufacturers, is that what you meant?

I've always wondered why those who want to pass sweeping, massive gun control laws don't say one peep about the other objects that "cause" a lot of deaths --- unhealthy foods, knives, swimming pools, alcohol, cigarettes, etc. Why don't they want sweeping massive control of those objects as well?

If you have ideas present them

Do you know what the word ENABLE means? Not having proper gun regulations is just that.

A most excellent post.

And what "proper gun regulations" would've stopped Adam Lanza (or anyone else hell-bent on killing people) from stealing a weapon?

The least they can do is put those dead children names on the NRA WALL OF MARTYRS that honors those who died so other can keep and bear arms.

Oh wait!!!! There is no such monument.

Never mind.

You have to stop the society and the Adam Lanza's of the world will then be impacted.

We have passed laws regulating and restricting most of those things. And those that are permitted we attempt to discourage.

Laws are for ALL members of society. Buy making certain guns obsolete - nobody is society will be legally able to obtain them and it will be even more difficult to obtain the illegal ones.

This is about creating an environment that most people want to live in as part of a peaceful society.

Really? How are unhealthy foods, swimming pools and knives "regulated and restricted"?

If the goal is to stop death and massive control of those objects that "cause" death will bring about that goal, why aren't we talking about massive control of ANY object that "causes" death? Why just guns? Do the other deaths not matter as much?

So your answer is banning and confiscation of what kinds of guns exactly. AR's, Semi Auto guns, revolvers, single shot muskets, or anything you are afraid of?

Oh? How are you going to make "certain guns obsolete" when there are already millions of those "certain guns" in homes across the country? Explain.

Also -- why just "certain" guns?
