NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll: Biden & Warren UP, Harris takes a major nose dive

For The Record - I only post polls from DNC approved sources. This is the third national poll this month and the first to come out post third debate:

NBC NEWS / WALL STREET JOURNAL POLL (September 13th to September 16th)

1. Joe Biden - 31% (Gained 5% from the last NBC/WSJ poll)
2. Elizabeth Warren - 25% (Gained 6% from the last one)
3. Bernie Sanders - 14% (Gained 1%)
4. Pete Buttigieg - 7%
5. Kamala Harris - 5% (Went down by 8%)
6. Andrew Yang - 4% (Was at 2% last time)
7. Cory Booker & Amy Klobuchar - 2%
9. Michael Bennett, Julian Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Beto O'Rourke & Tom Steyer 1%

Good news for both Biden and Warren. They are up from the last NBC/WSJ poll. We might be seeing signs of Sanders falling off the wagon here. Harris' campaign had one great month, and has really looked awful since then. The Yang gang continues to get stronger and stronger.

Your thoughts?

Warren will be the nominee. The Trump team are counting on it (and licking their lips). Observation - she is just as slick as Bernie on not answering middle class tax questions.

Stephen Colbert stumps Elizabeth Warren on middle-class tax hikes

Your “Pocahontas” bull**** is all you’ve got, and only hardcore trump supporters and Russian internet trolls are swallowing it.

Well, I am willing to wager that this may be true, but I also offer this; I think this country has a real issue with women being voted into office in general, let alone the presidency.

I think even more than a race issue we have a "gender" issue.

I'm not convinced, given the current climate, a woman can win the WH. Too many people are misogynists for it to happen - in my completely unsupported opinion. I have no data to back that up, it's simply a musing from my interaction with people on both sides of the fence.

Remember that a majority of voters voted for Clinton in 2016, and they didn’t even like her. People like and trust Warren, and she’ll do much better than Clinton in 2020.

We shall see. The primary will pick up steam now; IDK who will win but Biden has been more resilient than I expected, despite his absurd marijuana position and his constant gaffes, and his teeth.

Sanders is going to go to at least Iowa. He has a good chance to win there and/or New Hampshire, and then he'll want to win his home state of Vermont before dropping out, which could take him to Super Tuesday.

One thing that's clear from the polls is where each candidate is likely to draw eventual support.

Warren is going to get the support of Sanders, Yang, O'Rourke, and likely Booker and Gabbard, and if ALL of them got out of the race after Iowa that would put her in the mid 40's in the polls, and very capable of winning the primary.

Biden will get the support of Delaney, Bennett, and Klobuchar, but that's only a like 4% of the vote. The question is where the support of Harris and Buttigieg will go, as that's a must win for Biden, which I suspect he will get the majority of in the end.

I'd say the math still favors Biden.

I dont know that Bernie is going to get out. In fact, you might see a number of democrats stay in all the way to the convention if it looks like no one is going to win it outright.

I think Biden is at his ceiling, whereas Warren keeps gaining steam. If the present trend continues, she'll be the nominee.

Once Warren finally admits that her plans will raise taxes on the middle class instead of her verbal shell game of talking about costs her support will fade IMO

Harris sucks.

Good Lord, Buttgieg would be great. But we can't have nice things in this country, can we?

lol, I know right? I would love Buttigieg for president.

That's a good strategy on her part. She wants the Bernie Bros to change their mind, and vote for her. She figures attacking Saint Bernard will not move the needle for her.

Well sure, of course. That would be the absolute worst thing she could do, or anyone could do.
What I was impressed with the most however, was the realization that Liz is probably likely to take the same diplomatic approach in a lot of areas.
I was imagining her taking a similar tack with foreign policy. Wow, I'm willing to bet that would get some pretty good results. People like it when you respect them.
Next test: How TOUGH can Liz be when it's time to unleash the claws.
If she can convince people that she can be tough as nails, it's going to pay off.

But tact and diplomacy are excellent gifts to have. It was refreshing to hear, at least for me anyway.

only way 1 of the top 3 get out will be a hearse....this things gonna be contested convention imo.

She didn't outright state that the middle class would see higher taxes because that would be used in attack ads against her. But her statement...

"And the answer is, on Medicare for All, costs are going to go up for wealthier individuals and costs are going to go up for giant corporations. But for hardworking families across this country, costs are going to go down..."

...was factually accurate.

Who ultimately will pay for the Trump tax cuts on the wealthy/corporations? Trump must have stopped playing a shell game and told us all, right?

That's quite the whataboutism there. The fact that you would rather play that silly game then address the actual post is rather telling.

Is that poll any real surprise? The only question is can Bernie stabilize his campaign support in the next couple of debates. The rest of the candidates are wasting their time and ours.

Only in implementation will the truth be shown. The Sanders and Warren spending plans are wildly unrealistic and tax dollars recouped cannot at this time be substantiated.

Our great grandkids the same ones who will be paying for all the "free" programs Warren has purposed.

Warren is actually climbing. Biden is treading water. Bernie is slipping.

Biden and Bernie are retreads. I think Americans want a fresh face with fresh ideas.

I'd love to see a Warren/Buttigieg ticket.

Trump will again have to employ his New York vulgar shtick. Lord knows he has no record of accomplishments to run on.

As Trump balloons the deficit to over $1 trillion dollars.

with the largest US debt in history
with the largest US trade deficit in history
with the largest US wealth inequality in history

Warren was already quoted with her answer, who is playing games? *edit: and chillfolks had the honesty to answer!

So, let’s be clear about health care. And let’s actually start where [the] vice president did. We all owe a huge debt to President Obama, who fundamentally transformed health care in America and committed this country to health care for every human being. And now the question is, how best can we improve on it? And I believe the best way we can do that is we make sure that everybody gets covered by health care at the lowest possible cost. How do we pay for it? Those at the very top, the richest individuals and the biggest corporations, are going to pay more. And middle class families are going to pay less. That’s how this is going to work.

So you can't admit that that it's a greater cost to the middle class than the wealthy, when Trump gave those tax cuts primarily to the wealthiest Americans who were already doing spectacular AND to corporations, who were also doing spectacular.
Obviously it scares you to discuss such things, you don't need to respond, you can just hide, doesn't bother me.

I'm far more interested in who she gets donations from. Will they be fossil fuel industries, health insurance companies, large banks, private prison industries, companies with records of employing people in countries with human rights violations? That will tell me more about what kind of President she'll be than just the fact that she receives money from big donors.

One thing is certain: her rhetoric guarantees that the only big donors who give money to her campaign aren't terrified of losing access to government.

At least you had the honesty to answer. That's right, our grand kids - Trumps' tax cuts cost the American public.

I already pay for health care, not sure why me paying a little less for healthcare and corporations paying a little more, would be the end of the world. Aren't corporations doing incredible well compared to our shrinking middle class, and the incredibly income disparity that continues to grow for the wealthy, vs the middle class worker?

Doesn't impact me directly, I can afford it all and have multiple businesses and can self insure anyway. I don't need the extra income, but Trump gave me more anyway, because big money in government is what modern Republicans do.
Warren's #1 issue is anti-corruption, which has a large does of money out of politics. Looks like she's got a good priority.

What was Trump's again? A wall that Mexico will pay for? Muslims banned? Tax cuts for the rich/corporations which sailed through in record speed? Yuck yuck.

Sanders' plan was wrong by half. Even when corrected, however, the savings for an average family are monumental. For a family, combined annual premiums and deductibles cost $22,819. An 8% increase in taxes (obviously I'm not applying a sliding scale here) would be required to pay for medicare for all, which would cost a family with an $80,000 income $6400. That family would be paying $16,419 less overall.

What gets lost easily in all of this is that insurance is a profit-making business model. It's intended to bring in more model than it puts out by denying claims, suppressing the person's desire to seek medical attention or by betting that the person won't need medical attention. Conversely, medicare for all simply uses the money it receives to pay for health care.

I do hope he gets it. It is quite strange that he refers to descendants paying for ideas Warren proposed rather than focusing on Bush turning a surplus into a 450 billion/year deficit with tax cuts (among other things ahem ahem), and then Trump taking a 550ish billion/year and turning it into 1+ trillion/year for some tax cuts that lead to stock buybacks.
