There are presently 14 positions (out of 36) that are presently manned by "Acting" people, meaning they are in important positions but have no power. Trump has pushed for this scenario as he recently said ""I like 'acting' because I can move so quickly," he told CBS' Face The Nation in February, adding, "It gives me more flexibility."

More flexibility means he can get rid of them a lot easier if they do not do exactly as he wants.

Never before has a president had so many people in "acting" categories and even more so for so much time.

Everyone one of these "Acting Heads" are publicly responsible for what their departments do but the reality is that none of them can actually put their knowledge and experience toward helping the American public if it goes against what Trump thinks and wants.

Talk about a true dictatorship without the actual tag of being one!

Is this the best way to run a country?

The lack of permanence at the top of these departments means "we don't have established leaders in really important places in our government," says Max Stier, CEO of the Partnership for Public Service.

Stier compares the acting directors to substitute teachers.

"They might be amazing educators or amazing leaders in their own right," Stier says, "but they're not set out for success. They're not going to be perceived as having complete and full authority by those that are around them."

They should be sent to the Senate for confirmation. But there is nothing particularly dictatorial about not doing so. A confirmed Cabinet member merely exercises the delegated power of a president.

I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who had noticed what he is doing.

He appoints people at will, and he want them, and everybody else to know that they are his lackeys.

He is also usurping the Constitutional power of advise and consent in Congress, in addition to having usurped the power of the purse (willingly offered up by Mitch McConnell), not to mention the oversight function.

You seem to have a few misunderstandings about what it means to be "Acting".

1. "meaning they are in important positions but have no power"

An Acting head of a department has the same powers and responsibilities of an actual head of a department.

2. "none of them can actually put their knowledge and experience toward helping the American public "

An Acting head can, and does, put their knowledge and experience toward running the department...the same as the actual head.

3. "More flexibility means he can get rid of them a lot easier if they do not do exactly as he wants." "if it goes against what Trump thinks and wants"

It doesn't matter whether the head is Acting or actual, if they go against what their boss...Trump...thinks and wants they risk being fired by their boss...Trump. Admit it, your spin bears no resemblance to what Trump actually said.

The point is that by not picking people who could pass the Senate grilling, he can pick people who WILL do what he wants.

People who haven't promised to uphold the laws of the nation. People who are willing to do draconian things which it would have been harder for him to get a qualified, Senate-approvable person to agree to.
