Camps for the Homeless?

Many homeless people use illegal drugs. They are violating federal law by doing so. Many others are repeatedly violating state laws or local ordinances. They could be jailed for that as well.

I never said or implied that they would necessarily be arrested for violating federal laws, or that it would have to be the federal government doing all of this. There's nothing about the camp idea indicating that it would necessarily have to be exclusively managed by the federal government.

Sorry, I thought that was obvious.

Yeah, they keep having incidents like this, and someone is going to be forced to do something drastic at this point.

Some kind of a work camp. They learn how to make a paycheck, and get off the street. I like it.

Ah yes, Donald trumps state’s rights and small government ideology in one fell swoop. I love it....the end of not only conservatives but libertarians as well—now that not even Hillary could have achieved.

I'm glad you do

You see, Trump is a progressive(wink)

Well, Trump is in a banning mood because his wife is concerned that a few people died vaping--Melania is apparently our new Tipper Gore out to save the children from themselves. Now, he is into rounding up the homeless and putting them in camps. Hillary would be so proud. Maybe she lost on purpose.

debtors' prison
hope that is a plank in the GOP 2020 platform
we can call it 'camp tRump' ... there's even a ready logo for this type of real estate development

Oh yea, tent cities with people using the sidewalk as a toilet is so much better.

a better alternative than forced detention

Given the fact that many of them are in flagrant violation of the law, they easily could be given the choice of camp or prison.

would you please cite the law you are referencing

This is much better than the church in California that imprisoned homeless and made them panhandle to raise funds for the church.

better in that they will not have to panhandle?

Seeing as both the democrats, and republicans actively have their own policies to help the poor, or homeless. Suggesting that this would somehow be a first for republicans, is quite dishonest.

please list the array of assistance to the homeless that the republicans have provided

Do you have an "easier" solution?
Let me guess -- billions in Federal funding to build "affordable housing" in CA, because the wealthiest state in the country absolutely needs money from everyone else to solve problems of its own making.

I just find it amusing that, to you, the idea of rounding up millions of folks & then having millions of trials so you can sentence these millions to some sort of a camp or prison is "easy"

Perhaps we just have different ideas of what "easy" is.

Or maybe we different ideas about the importance of the Bill of Rights.
Maybe you were planning on skipping the whole trial business before you started hauling Americans off to camps.
idk

Either case, "easily" is a peculiar (and perhaps telling) choice of words.

Why are there any homeless people?

We're near 100% employment. Why are these people homeless? If homelessness is at it's highest point in, well, years, then perhaps the economy is not nearly as good as the Trump insists?

How can it be that we have a homeless problem with the "greatest economy ever seen"?

Have you ever talked to a homeless person? I'm in NYC maybe homeless people in Sand Diego are different. Here most of them don't look employable.
There are shelters but they don't want to go to the shelters because of real fear of crime or just paranoia or both.
But if conservatives want to help the homeless, that's great. It would be the first time I ever heard of Republican politicians trying to help the homeless.

... as compared to dems always talking about it but never doing anything.

The same everyone else does... And I am sure there are studies on who donates what.

it’s a drug and alcohol problem.

Who doesn't love forced labor camps?

lol

It's illegal to be homeless?

No, did I say it was? Here's a little clue for you: if I thought it was illegal to be homeless, I wouldn't have said "many" homeless people are in flagrant violation of the law. I would have said "most" or "all."

Many people on the street are there because they want to be. Mental issues and substance abuse are problems for a significant percentage of them.
But if they're capable of walking or riding a bicycle around picking through trash cans, they are capable of performing some kind of marketable service for their food and shelter.
And please refrain from the inevitable ridiculous liberal comparisons to concentration camps. Seriously?

Here's what I find amusing: That your reading comprehension is so poor that you think I said
-anything about "rounding up millions of folks" (there are less than a million homeless in the country), or anyone for that matter,
-having any significant number of trials, or
-that doing any of that would be easy.

It's also amusing that you refuse to respond to my question, even after dramatically mischaracterizing what I wrote.
