While piling on the deductible to $8,000 per person and going up. What the bold print giveth the fine print taketh away. And, the government subsidies wasn't going to last forever. The ultimate ending to the ACA was always going to be single payer. A complete lie!!!

So you have no premium, a cap on your potential expenses, and the ability to modulate your health expenses if you wish by choosing more cost-effective sources of care. Your costs are literally entirely in your own hands. That's about as pure a market-based incentive (with financial protection for you as a safety net!) as you can get in this universe. But sure, single-payer or something.

Before ACA, I had insurance with a $500 deductible. So, I was able to get medical attention for all things. At $8,000 it is impossible. You may have $8,000 laying around but those on the bronze plan don't. It was worthless insurance.

So you apparently have at least $8,000/person in expenses each year, don't want to contribute more than ~$500 (plus perhaps some nominal premium) toward it and you're ragging on single-payer.

If you want a system where you're going to get thousands and thousands of dollars in benefits without ever paying for them, single-payer might be for you.

What you have now is a market-based system where you have financial protections but also some skin in the game and have to weigh the relative costs of care and prices of different providers in deciding when and where to buy care. That's the ACA.

If you're going to critique it from the left, you can't also complain that it's some gateway to single-payer.

If thats the game you wanna play why does the ACA saving my moms life not count? Your claimed 8k deductible makes it worthless but hers premiums going down, her keeping her doctor and getting a better plan and it saving her life is meaningless? LMAO riiiiight.

It is true. Some states expanded Medicaid. The states that didn't offer up subsidies for Obamacare premiums and out of pocket costs. And, people still go to the doctor and don't pay the bill with everyone else paying for them through higher premiums.
