Washington (CNN)In a previously undisclosed secret mission in 2017, the United States successfully extracted from Russia one of its highest-level covert sources inside the Russian government, multiple Trump administration officials with direct knowledge told CNN.

A person directly involved in the discussions said that the removal of the Russian was driven, in part, by concerns that President Donald Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy.

Maybe im being cynical, but i have come to the conclusion that these organazations are using the term "anyomous sources" to hide behind, as a license to fabricate whatever they want with impunity. It happems far to often and is relied on far to frequently to explain away as either incompetency or innocent mistakes. CNN and othr3s are guility of using the tenants of a free press to perputrate hoaxes.

So you're now defending the intelligence services whom Trump decided were not to be trusted, because he preferred to believe Putin? Wasn't 'Deep Throat' anonymous? Didn't work out too well for Nixon did it?

Seems that there are literally thousands of undisclosed, anonymous, insider, sources being used to propagate fake news these days. Its in a report about Trump every day.

You would think after becoming the lowest rated cable news provider in the country, you might try a different tactic but when its all you have, I guess you run the fake stuff.

CNN's narrative that the Central Intelligence Agency makes life or death decisions based on anything other than objective analysis and sound collection is simply false.
