Happy for Obama's home purchase and his humble beginning

Happy for Obama......he has lead a charmed life. Only in America. Fortunately for him he was born in 1961 and not 1973. Teenage unwed mother with a mixed race baby probably would have visited Planned Parenthood for "services". Affirmative action carried him the rest of the way. Good on him. Hope he enjoys a great, long and healthy retirement and..........STFU.

President Barack Obama
Former United States President Barack Obama believes that ballooning wealth inequality is a threat to society, and that those who have the means should help those who are less fortunate.

“Right now I’m actually surprised by how much money I got,” the 44th President said in his address to more than 10,000 people gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Tuesday. “There’s only so much you can eat. There’s only so big a house you can have. There’s only so many nice trips you can take. I mean, it’s enough.”

The Obamas made more than $20 million between 2005 and 2016 thanks in large part to two lucrative book deals, according to an analysis by Forbes.

Wealthy people should give money to those who are less fortunate, Obama said in the speech, which was his highest-profile appearance since leaving office.

In the years from 2009 to 2015, Obama gave more than $1 million to charities, according to Forbes.

“You don’t have to take a vow of poverty just to say, ‘Well, let me help out... let me look at that child out there who doesn’t have enough to eat or needs some school fees, let me help him out. I’ll pay a little more in taxes. It’s okay. I can afford it,’” Obama said.

“I mean, it shows a poverty of ambition to just want to take more and more and more, instead of saying, ‘Wow, I’ve got so much. Who can I help? How can I give more and more and more?’ That’s ambition. That’s impact. That’s influence. What an amazing gift to be able to help people, not just yourself.”

There have been significant improvements in global health and prosperity over the last hundred years, but many have been left behind, the former President said

Obama gave over 1m to charity?!?!!! WTH!

Obviously he needs some financial advice from Trump. Charities are meant to be a source of personal income.

How Donald Trump Shifted Kids-Cancer Charity Money Into His Business - Forbes

This is the sort of smart business decision that makes him a darling with much of his Christian base.

Let us know when the Obamas say, "when".

They already have. Didn't you read the article?

In the years from 2009 to 2015, Obama gave more than $1 million to charities, according to Forbes.

As opposed to Trump, who takes from charity.

Trump Foundation agrees to dissolve under judicial supervision

Is that why Christians like Trump so much, he's such a "good" businessman he steals from charity?

Actually, most conservatives don't even like Trump, let alone love him. But considering the total losers the Democrats put up to challenge him, he seems pretty tolerable in comparison.

We'll give you Trump for Trudeau, deal?

Trump is a complete a total disaster as president. Your unwillingness to admit that the emperor has no clothes while criticizing Obama tells us everything about you.

That was said in context of a larger point. What part of it do you think demonstrates his hypocrisy? Is he not donating a big enough share of his income? While President it was 10% of AGI. What would satisfy you?

Barack Obama on wealth inequality: ‘There’s only so much you can eat’

He also said, "there's only so much you can eat." I guess the next hypocrisy!! thread will be a story of him eating in a nice restaurant...

The problem is a black man owns a really nice house. They love Trump, who needed daddy's money, who needed daddy to bail him out over and over from his business failures, who is a disgusting human being.

But someone who made it on their own, the "right way," through hard work and perseverance, but with black skin? That is someone many Americans are going to hate.

Well, of course, he's black so his own hard work, intelligence couldn't explain that success. It's obvious, right? All he had to do was show up!

Its not something thats really important to me. I could care less if they gave no money to charity. Its a personal choice and not something i judge others for.

I am just curious which organazations they view as worthy

Another thing to keep in mind is that Obama graduated from Harvard Law as the president of the Law Review. He could have made millions as a lawyer in a top law firm. But he chose to be a community organizer.

It's nice to see him get rewarded in the end.

" But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you"

Give the guy a break. With three homes he is just now catching up to Bernie.....

So, 1/60th of what just their books brought in.

The place he bought, or is buying, looks wonderful. And I'm happy for him. Perhaps now he will think about all the disparaging remarks he made against rich people.

What disparaging remarks against rich people?

Costs of security, for all Presidents, is a fact of life - Trump travels to his own properties when he vacations - doesn't have to pretend he's rich, like the last two former Democrat Presidents. But you won't get a serious argument from me that President Trump spends entirely too many weekends away from Washington, either in Florida or New Jersey, and that costs the American taxpayer far too much.

Obama is pretending he's rich?

Wow. You must make the right so proud.

Obama's mother married his father in February of 1961. Obama was born in August of 1961. Your ignorant fantasy about her aborting him and your lie about her being an "unwed mother" is what we expect from Trump Fan Nation.

Affirmative Action "carried him the rest of the way". Nice interjection of your racist anger while you're disgracing yourself.

Obama is pretending he's rich?

Yeah, that was a truly nonsensical point.

"Costs of security, for all Presidents, is a fact of life - Trump travels to his own properties when he vacations - doesn't have to pretend he's rich, like the last two former Democrat Presidents."

It appears to be an argument that if one is 'truly' rich, it's OK to vacation at one's own property each weekend, and let the taxpayer pick up the $millions in costs of security. But if one doesn't own his own resort - like the only marginally rich Obamas (they had only made maybe $10 million off the books....) - then it's an affront and unconscionable to vacation and have taxpayers pay for transport and security.

Couldn't agree more.

Such petty jealousy. Obama succeeded in life without someone giving him 10 million dollars. He is the true American success story.

That is why conservatives are so full of irrational angst about it.

Of course, it is absolutely hilarious to watch the hypocrisy.:lamo

Please do feel free to show even once that I have disparaged his wealth or claimed he shouldnt get rich beyond his wildest dreams.

You keep doing that same stupid **** where you try to claim hypocrisy and end up somehow managing to kick yourself in the balls. At some point you have to figure you just like how it feels.

You can go ahead and double down on your stupid comments all you like, but it wont prevent you from making yourself look foolish...in fsact quite the opposite.

Again...feel free to show even once that I have disparaged his wealth or claimed he shouldnt get rich beyond his wildest dreams.
