United States Steel Corp will temporarily lay off hundreds of workers at its Great Lakes facility in Michigan in coming weeks, according to a filing the steelmaker made with the State of Michigan.

...

The lay-offs call into question claims President Donald Trump has made about the resurgence of the domestic steel industry. Last week in Pennsylvania, Trump said his 25% tariff on foreign imports has turned a “dead” business into a “thriving” enterprise.

Domestic steel prices did rise in the immediate aftermath of Trump’s tariffs. But they have fallen dramatically amid improved supplies and weakening demand from the auto and farm machinery sectors.

Prices of hot-rolled coil are down nearly 37% from their 2018 peak.

U.S. Steel’s stock price has plunged 73% since March 1, 2018, when Trump announced his decision to crack down on foreign imports.

Remember when Trump lied and said the CEO of U.S. Steel called him and said they were opening 6 new plants?

AP FACT CHECK: Trump says US Steel opening mills. Not so

Why do you people still support a man who lies to you? He fabricates whole conversations and makes up numbers to mislead you. Why do you tolerate this?!

I know very few people who support this character. One that should have surprised me is my dentist. A former star QB on the Penn State FB team, he is a young, successful businessman with the obvious smarts needed to make it in this profession as a successful, independent businessman. Yet he supports this lying sack of blubber. I can't figure it out.

The lies are dismissed because "We are focused on his agenda. Sometimes you have to endure some not so nice things about a person in order to support his agenda"

Translation: We ignore his lies because he doing the thing we think is most important rubbing liberal noses in ***t, like they did to us for 8 years of the Obama administration.

Definition: agenda: bigotry, racism, petty name calling

I have a friend who voted for him but he's mildly autistic and even he has stopped supporting Trump.

That (bolded above) was not a clue? Perhaps you think that he should favor accepting whatever congress critters (or their assigns) decide is a "fair price" for his services under an as yet to be written M4A law?

Lower taxes. To me there are only a couple of reasons to support trump. Like your dentist, lower taxes appeals to him, never mind our infrastructure is crumbling he's only worried about his taxes. The other reason, you support racism. Jews will not replace you and black and browns can go back to where they came from. Other than that I see no reason to support this disgusting human being.

Yep. His 2018 campaign strategy was one dimensional. Obviously this is what Trump thinks his base cares about. The question is, does Trump know his base?

Trump's Midterm Closing Argument: Pure Racial Fear

Christ, it got so bad, even his propaganda wing, FOX News, wouldn't carry his ad because it was so racist.

With racist ad, Trump sinks to a new low

Well, it makes sense that he would vote for Michigan's Man of the Year....Oh wait...

DONALD TRUMP HAS REPEATEDLY CLAIMED HE WAS 'MICHIGAN'S MAN OF THE YEAR.' THAT'S NOT A REAL AWARD

This qualifies him as a pathological liar. Pathological. Under what circumstances can anyone support a pathological liar?

It conceivably pisses off a liberal somewhere that he lies, so, hooray!

Plus, Obama once said "you can keep your doctor", and what's the difference between one and twenty thousand? Just a bunch of zeroes and a bit more squiggly line.

You know this just makes me sad, I know that trump would have never delivered but, I don’t think that we should just single him out because we don’t know what’s actually going on

But Trump said that U.S. Steel is building 6 new plants. He said the CEO called him privately and told him that. U.S. Steel denied this but Trump assured us this was true.

Why can't we hold Trump responsible for his lies?
