As you see in the data, mental illness increases during bad economic times. How is that support for your premise in the OP?

GLBT did that by political vote not by study. Unending biased studies followed the subsiquent vote to remove the conditions from the DSM

Maybe they just pointed to the lack of evidence for labeling homosexuality a mental illness.

Well, that's a non sequitor but I'll answer it anyway. I want my children to live up to their potential and follow their dreams. Happily for me they're doing that quite successfully. None of them are gay, but I wouldn't care if they were.
