Why do the Dems push this so hard? Easy answer really. In 2016, 8% of black voters supported Trump. Now, it's more like 21%. The voters the Dems have been paying lip service to, but actually sh*tting on so long are beginning to revolt. OMFG! ;)

Black voters are beginning to see through the BS- good for them. :thumbs:

Trump said in 2016.."If you want things to stay the same, vote for her. If you want a job..vote for me".

He delivered on that promise.

I am skeptical that he is gonna take a larger percentage of the black vote than before but if he does heads will explode. That would be a catrosphic fracture in the party for the left. I dont think jobs will be enough to do it.

I would not put faith in any poll with that big of a margin of error.

If there was a poll out there that said Trump had lost 2/3rds of his support among a demographic with a margin of error 1/2 as big as the drop, you'd be crying fake news in a heartbeat. Don't put your faith in bizarrely large outliers just because they tell you what they want to hear.

Well Rasmussen has him at a 44% approval rating, so there's that bigger portion to worry about. What would be disconcerting about that news if I were a Trump supporter is that Rasmussen and Harris polls usually lean on the higher side for Trump.

Most pollsters consider +/- 3% a fact based poll.

Rasmussen is +/- 9%

Rasmussen also during the 2018 election period polled that black turn out would be down, it was up.

Rasmussen polls showed blacks voting for republican candidates in 2018 in record numbers, the republican candidates got less votes then traditionally.

FOX News claimed that Rasmussen used data related to NON-White women to make the claims that black voters had swung to Trump.

The actual data was as of July 2019, 77% of non-white women were going to vote for a democratic candidate over a republican candidate.

That isn't the same as saying 23% of black voters plan to vote for Trump.

Rasmussen does not perform the polling, they purchased it and then "interpret" it.

Fox News does its polling and lists it on their web pages with complete breakdowns verse Rasmussen which doesn't list a single page of backup....

I'm not a Fox supporter, but they have far more credibility than Rasmussen.

Rasmussen does NOT qualify for the Democratic Debates as a respected polling source, so no candidate can use them as proof of support.

Rassmussen does robopolls and they do a lot of them. 538 rates them C+. They lean to Republicans, so the media attacks them like a dog on a steak.

You can quibble with the numbers a bit, but this is real showing but a real pollster. It's not like this is the first indication Trump has made inroads with minorities.
 
Trump does not need the black voter.Only about 5% of the 12% are eligible to vote.He needs the white voter to get out and support him.

The only unfortunate thing about Rasmussen is that they won't let you see their sampling data unless you pay. This makes it hard to judge whether this Rasmussen poll is bogus or not.

I don't have that problem with the Fox poll that was referenced by Redress, though.

Fox makes their sampling by party affiliation known...and it's not good.

Fox oversampled Dems (48 freaking percent of the people they talked to were Dems :shock:), oversampled Reps (but not as much as they did Dems) and undersampled Inds by more than 20%. Seriously...they downright IGNORED the Independents.

So...I can't judge Rasmussen, but I CAN judge Fox...and I judge Fox to be FAKE NEWS!!

Why? Because that's what Trump supporters, in their desperation, need to resort to. Trump lies every bloody day, so that gives them tacit permission to follow suit.

Well, seeing as Rasmussen always gives Trump high numbers when every other polling organisation does not, why would you expect anything other than cynicism? Are there any other polls showing Trump in a favourable light? If there are you need to show them.

When it comes to a poll of presidential popularity or any poll, for that matter, there's a benefit to be gained by averaging a number of polls. The effect of outliers is reduced. An example of this can be found at: How Popular Is Donald Trump? | FiveThirtyEight

An aggregate isn't always a good thing. If most of the polls you are averaging are bogus polls, you end up with a bogus average. That's what got people in trouble during the 2016 election. Bogus polls being averaged made people think Hillary was doing better than the reality.

Those people cried on election night.

She was doing better-three million votes better as it turned out. She only lost because of the vagaries of your undemocratic electoral college. Fact.

But I do comment on and judge polls here on DP when it strikes my fancy. Keep your eyes open (and your mind).

Since the electoral college is a Constitutional fact of American life, anyone who pays attention to a mythical popular vote is wasting their time and, quite simply, fooling themselves...as we saw in 2016.

And who cares about "undemocratic"? The US isn't a democracy.

Sure, keep telling yourself that. In reality people remember how he was sued by the Federal Government for discrimination and called people quietly protesting "sons of bitches". I know you expect everyone to be fooled like you were but sorry to break it to you, we see right through the bull****.
