Of course, this is all a bunch of lies.

Mr. Trump rarely uses racial categories in his speech or his tweets. It is the media and Democratic leaders who routinely demonize individuals and groups by race and issue race-based denunciations of large parts of the American polity.

Some examples: As race dominates the political conversation, 10 white Democratic candidates will take the stage (the Washington Post); Mr. Trumps rally audiences are overwhelmingly white (multiple sources); your sons whiteness is what protects him from not [sic] being shot by the police ( Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand ); white candidates need to be conscious of white privilege� (South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg ); white supremacy manifests itself� in the criminal-justice, immigration and health-care systems ( Sen. Cory Booker ); Michael Brown was murdered by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri ( Sen. Elizabeth Warren ); whiteness is the very core of Mr. Trumps power, whereas his predecessors made their way to high office through the passive power of whiteness (Ta-Nehisi Coates in the Atlantic).

Liberal opinion deems such rhetoric fair comment, even obvious truth, not racially divisive.

We were united after 9/11, but Bush and the right had to ruin it (along with all the world's support) by invading Iraq. Suddenly not wanting to invade a country that had nothing to do with attacking us made us terrorist sympathizers and not real patriots who should leave the country.

Right wingers have always divided the country, because they are such hateful, ignorant assholes hell bent on stifling progress

I read the article last night; very well written and to the point.

I also read some of the comments following that article, and one expressed what I was thinking while readig: "How did you get past the censure with that article?"

(The WSJ used to be considered conservative, but from the articles that I have read over the last 10 years, I put it into the 50%/50% category.
Since Trump's election I call the WSJ now excessively left-leaning. But that's a subject for another time.)

Anyway, I'm glad you posted this article here.

As a lifelong Democrat I can't say it's always been this way.
In recent years, the Democrats have become the party of division. And they will exploit women, religion and minorities in order to keep it that way... If you're not with them, you're the hater.

trump is not the one constantly lying about good things about himself (Out of thousands of examples, things like at his most recent rally claiming the plant he was speaking in wouldn't have been built if it weren't for him, when it was planned in 2012; claiming for years he was named 'Michigan's Man of the Year', when there's no such award; filling his properties with phony Time covers about him and golf championships he falsely claims he won.

Obviously I could go on, but there's a 5000 character limit.
