Why do almost all atheists vote democrat?

I lean Buddhist. It does not even require a god

I can see that but at the time I was interested in religions there were many bad people using Buddhism to lure young people into cults I did not really give it a serious look.

Nice try. You said nearly 1/4 of atheist voted for republicans. My response was that leaves over 3/4 who did not. Thats a fact no matter how you want to spin it now.

Correct! But the OP specifically discusses the portion of atheists who voted Democratic, doesn't it? :)

Well this has been fun but my phone is about to die.

It's always Interesting trying to convince someone of something when they are relying on emotions rather than logic.

I am an avid trapper and I once had breakfast with the president of an East coast PETA chapter.

When he stated be would rather see every deer die of disease than see one hurt by a human.

At that point I realized logic will sadly never overcome emotion...

Republicans are responsible for the freeing of the slaves and for attempting to force democrats to accept integration for 100 years after the Civil War in America.

Christians just project their latest opinions to the Bible. When they wanted slavery, this is how they “properly interpreted” their Bible:

"The right of holding slaves is clearly established in the Holy Scriptures, both by precept and example." Rev. Richard Furman, the first president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, 1859.

"Slavery was established by the decree of Almighty God. It is sanctioned in the Bible, in both testaments, from Genesis to Revelation." Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States of America.

“Was there is not one verse in the Bible condemning slavery. It is not therefore, we conclude, immoral. “
-sermon on Southern Baptist church, 1860

“The doom of Ham has been branded on the form and features of his African descendants. The hand of fate has united his color and destiny. Man cannot separate what God hath joined." James Henry Hammond, 19th century U.S. senator

Christians are very good at “properly interpreting” their Bible to always have it come out supporting their latest opinions. How else can they read the Bible today and have it come out saying that poverty is some kind of sin or moral failure, or that instead of being meek, the most loud, rude, foul-mouthed, greedy, and most aggressive should run things?

DP is not a representative sample of the United States, so I'm not sure why you felt the need to resort to that kind of attitude. :)

Maybe instead of your personal narrative, you should consult facts. In particular, the fact that about a quarter of nonreligious American voters voted for Trump in 2016. ;)

Correct! But the OP specifically discusses the portion of atheists who voted Democratic, doesn't it? :)

I used your numbers dude. You put the 1/4 out there, not me. If you now want to claim that it is 67% for Clinton and 25% for Trump that still shows overwhelming atheist support for the left--which is and has been my point throughout.

I do think many republicans have not been indoctrinated into the godless socialist hedonism that is so often being taught in American universities nowadays. Godless professors turn gullible students into atheistic idiots by brainwashing propaganda and it is hurting the whole of society as a result.

Such irony, it's delish!

Democrats now openly favor socialism over free market capitalism. Democrats favor shutting God out of politics. Democrats support sins such as homosexuality and abortion which Christians oppose. Democrats have expressed displeasure with America's history of Christian influence, and so forth. It is no wonder atheists tend to vote democrat.

SO, if all you wanted was to rag on Liberal Democrats about … anything and everything under the sun why try to tie it to an article that supports none of your bull ****; NONE! :doh

Bingo. There's your proof. Religious zealots of all kinds are prone to violent and erratic behavior.

How Do You Distinguish between Religious Fervor and Mental Illness? - Scientific American Blog Network

I am at odds to explain why religious belief is not classed as a delusion when there is nothing to support the existence of a supernatural religious deity. They are convinced that something exists just because they have been brainwashed into doing so. Organized religions are for-profit group delusions.

I have always felt that watching 2 religious believers argue over what god wants is akin to watching two blind people arguing over what purple looks like. It's insanity.

Buddhists in other countries have done some bad stuff too. But it's more of a philosophy for me. And meditation is great

There are always a few extremists in every bunch but Buddhism at its core is supposed to be peaceful. I'm a Humanist but there are ideas of Buddhism that I agree with and even try to practice.

Belief in God in the 1950's was somewhere around the 99% range.

That's not everybody. But I suspect that there were quite a few closet atheists who thought they should believe in the Christian version of God, so they said nothing. My mother was one. She was about 75 before I found out she was a nonbeliever.

You said you three of four planned parenthood patients have abortions, prove it.

Planned Parenthood hides the facts related to the numbers of 'patients' they see which receive abortions, but they do not hide the fact that they total for political purposes the numbers of people receiving other services separately without telling the truth that those many of those people receiving other services are also receiving abortions.

Or any gods for that matter.

In my studies of different religions I found Wicca to be most likely the closet to reality, or at least the most likely for me to ever follow.

Really the only ones that are not complete hypocrites...

To some geniuses, truth is simply what they want to believe or make up without any supporting empirical evidence whatsoever.

Good that is how it should be, if you want your kids taught bull****, that is your business, but you should pay for it yourself.

Public schools are a public necessity, they insure that you get the correct change when you go to McDonald's.

Teaching children that there is such a thing as thing as Santagod does no one any good...

A hundred or more years ago all schools and universities were Christian. Now many of those same schools hire barbarian morons to teach kids God is not real.

Do you ever get tired of spreading lies? Arent, you supposed, to tell the truth, because of the 10 Commandments or does that command only apply to others?
They list the number of abortions performed in their accounting. This includes in-person medical abortions and induced abortions by pill. Why do you care how many choose to terminate a pregnancy? I'd think that you would rather pay $1000 for an abortion instead of social service aid and public schools for 18 plus years.

PPFA is the largest single provider of reproductive health services, including abortion, in the U.S. In their 2014 Annual Report, PPFA reported seeing over 2.5 million patients in over 4 million clinical visits and performing a total of nearly 9.5 million discrete services including 324,000 abortions.

I will believe organized religions have the good of people at heart rather than the business of selling god and Jesus, the day the Vatican peals the gold off their ceiling and feed the pour...

False religions, like false preachers, are all about money and could not care less about God or people.

I haven't meditated or done yoga in .any hears, I should take it up again

It's like going to the gym. It's hard to keep it up....but it changes you
