Let's recall that trump's first campaign rally when he announced, was a lie. It was secretly attended by people paid to pretend to be there supporting him, hired as extras. Now, trump's most recent rally at a Shell plant:

- Were ordered by the company not to protest or do anything appearing to resist.
- Were told their choices were, don't attend and get no pay for the day, or show up and spend all day, through lunch with no lunch, behaving as ordered.
- Apparently the company lied to workers that their union had approved the arrangement
- trump illegally used tax dollars for the trip, which prohibits it being a campaign stop - and then made it a campaign stop, such as attacking Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden, and repeated his garbage about cancelling the 2020 election and serving four terms.

- Were ordered by the company not to protest or do anything appearing to resist. Yes, this happened...and for good reason. The company didn't want to pay people to start fights, as so many protesters like to do nowadays.
- Were told their choices were, don't attend and get no pay for the day, or show up and spend all day, through lunch with no lunch, behaving as ordered. And get paid overtime pay. Seems those workers had a choice. Yes, this happened.
- Apparently the company lied to workers that their union had approved the arrangement Apparently? Let me know when you KNOW that's what happened.

Nonsense. He went there to talk about his policies and to illustrate, by the actions at that construction site, the beneficial effects of his policy. This is something that ALL Presidents do.

Isn't spin a wonderful thing? Why, by using spin, you can actually get stupid people to believe anything.

//// by using spin, you can get stupid people to believe anything /// <---- Trump's gullible base is a picture perfect example of this truth.

Jesus Christ, the day has barely begun and we've already got the single most signature-worthy nugget of retardation we'll see all day. The irony is so thick, I'd need a goddamn chainsaw to cut it.

Given the bogus polls and actions on the streets, it's evident that the Trump hating multimedia echo chamber is even better at it.

Yes, yes...I know...the truth hurts, doesn't it?

*Were told their choices were, don't attend and get no pay for the day,*

This ^^ is not true, those that chose not to attend had a day off with pay. Common Dreams seems to be a purveyor lies / fake news.

Your source?

The article repeats what the newspaper reported. It has a lot more credibility than your claim at this point.

Re-visit post #4 for a reality check.

My source;

*Another Shell spokesman, Curtis Smith, told Newsweek that workers who chose to skip the rally received “paid time off,” which does not count as hours worked and therefore does not trigger overtime pay. Trump’s speech was treated as a training that differed from other training sessions only in that it included “a guest speaker who happened to be the President,” Smith said. “We do these several times a year with various speakers,” Smith told Newsweek in a written statement. “The morning session (7-10 a.m.) included safety training and other work-related activities.”
Ken Broadbent, business manager for the union Steamfitters Local 449, told the Post-Gazette his workers respect Trump for his title, regardless of whether they liked or disliked him. Anyone who did not want to go to work on the day of Trump’s speech could skip it, Broadbent said.
“This is just what Shell wanted to do and we went along with it,” Broadbent told the Post-Gazette.*

I can't read the WP story, and looked on Newsweek and didn't see any story.

The 'paid time off' could be paid for the day without having to use a vacation day, or with having to use one. The two sources I listed said it's no pay without using a vacation day. You say you found one contradicting that. We can watch for more reporting one way or the other.

I understand the paywall, but all pertinent information was posted.

*You say you found one contradicting that.*

I never said any such thing. I said this statement;

*Were told their choices were, don't attend and get no pay for the day,*

was untrue. Even you posted a link the refutes CD's statement.

Oh look, another link that that refutes,

*Were told their choices were, don't attend and get no pay for the day,*

I count having to use a vacation day to get paid, as not getting paid for the day.

Getting paid for the day means not having to use a vacation day.

I'll accept the choices were 'paid to behave as ordered at the rally, unpaid day, or use a vacation day to get paid.' If you want to argue about that not being quite what the newspaper reported (that CD accurately quoted) - including what a supervisor said - feel free. As I said, I view 'no pay' and 'use up a vacation day' as the same thing.

^^^^ Getting paid for the day is not getting paid for the day. :doh

it's sad that the company pressured its employees to attend a Tweety klan rally. no one with a brain should have to endure that.

That's ludicrous. That being said Shell stated they do this sort of thing several times a year, if the employee wants a day without pay it was their choice. There was no, don't attend and get no pay for the day, period.

What pressure Helix ??

No one with a brain would ever say that but that is the sort of thing we have to 'endure' when you decide to log in here.
