Why the Left's Obsession With Donald Trump Will Backfire [And already is]

I get tired of saying this. The left's dislike of Trump will not cost them the election. He is not gaining support as criticism is amplified. He is not gaining support period.

If he wins it is the same way as last time: against an opponent almost as unpopular as he is, with a few thousand votes in a few counties that get him the electoral college, at a loss of millions in the popular vote. How shrilly they decry him is irrelevant.

Nobody likes him and he is not gaining any ground. The only way he can win is by holding onto the territory he gained in 2016.

You mean like the President is a Russian agent, hes going to jail because of the emoluments clause, Trump is going to crash the stock market, 225 airings of the phony creepy porn lawyer, hookers peeing on Trump in a Russian hotel, the 12000 lie scam, Trumps a Neo Nazi Jew hater even though his daughter and grand children are Jews. All this being aired 24/7 with no evidence of anything just accusations.

The fake news became so bad the the number one cable news network (CNN) tanked to numbers under Nickelodeon and the cartoon channel and now even Liberal media sources like NYT won't allow their own reporters on any of CNNs shows.

YES<

LOL, you have no clue about fake news. The fake news is the denial of what we all watched happen: Trump publicly supported Neo Nazis and the KKK, and saying some are "very fine people".

Trump Defends White-Nationalist Protesters: 'Some Very Fine People'

Or are you one of the people who thinks it's a conspiracy by....the LIZARD PEOPLE!!!!! And all these national business and community leaders who resigned to protest Trump's support of Neo Nazis were part of that conspiracy?

Trump's business advisory councils disband as CEOs abandon Trump

And the Neo Nazis and KKK sure knew what he was talking about.

this is the fake news everyone knows about except you.

The projection...the projection....

I strongly encourage you to read the article to better understand why this is backfiring.

I've been pushed toward Trump, and I'm sure I'm one of millions who have been so affected by destructive liberal obsession.

Four more years of trump should put the oligarchy firmly in place.

I'm actually thinking its time to leave. Definitely looking at northern Washington for retirement property.

Exactly.

More and more Americans are recognizing him for the racist he is. A divider, not a uniter.

He's fulfilled and still trying to fulfill his campaign promises to his base just like your Obama did.
Do you really think Obama respected people when he misled and lied to them?

To compare any other president to this president is total denial to what he stands for. He even lied when he ran for president. He was a Dem his whole life.

Heh, I might see you. I have lots of friends in WA, many of them retired. Watch for me on the Fourth of July, we always come down for that. :2wave:

We weren't talking about Trump, we were talking about you. You can't even have that discussion without bringing Trump into the conversation.

If you couldn't find something about Trump to hate on constantly, you wouldn't have anything to talk about.

Yeah, he certainly gives enough nastiness everyday.

You are on a political discussion board which has something like 90% of threads started by Trump-hating lefties.

Oh, the irony.

It's nice to know that most lefties disagree with you and don't swallow the trump koolaid.

He's not and they know it. Trump is a threat to the Democrats' plant to "fundamentally change" America. We have to remember that at the core of all of this, is that Trump was never supposed to win.
That changed everything.

I'd agree. It changed everything.

For some decades now the political elite have failed in their leadership role, not addressing the issues, challenges and problems of the nation, so much so that expectations from them in the form of actual results were at an all time low ebb. Along comes Trump with straight forward fundamental principals such as 'America's interests come first', which resonate with many in the electorate, and actually takes action to move those forward, neither of which the political elite have done during their time at the helm.

The political elite can't afford to have Trump succeed as if he does it's a direct threat to their dominance and their political power and political control, and they can't stand it. So they enlist the previous administration to orchestrate an 'insurance policy' of de-legitimization, daily media attacks, Russian Collusion hoax and follow on hoaxes when that finally fails in glorious fashion.

And yet, Trump keeps pushing forward, and many of the electorate have recognized it and support it.

At this point it doesn't matter anymore which dishonest, illegitimate, baseless hate filled and vile attacks the Democrats and their DNC media co-conspirators deploy against Trump, the electorate has tuned them out much as the boy who cried wolf. The electorate sees results from Trump and welcome it over essentially 'do nothing', but finely polished media presentations of the political elites.

2 cases in point. North Korea and China. Granted, progress in both to a result is still pending, and may not even come to fruition, but at least there's something that's being tried and being done, as opposed to doing nothing, as the previous administration.

Along with the electorate cheering on the underdog, the electorate also knows when someone is actually trying something, as opposed to doing nothing.

Ahh but all the personal foibles, ill focus group tested statements from this president the left will cry. No one took a moment to realize that this makes the man far more genuine than the typical political elite's stream of focus group tested statements?

Oh c'mon...
Unless one lives in a bubble or lives under a rock, you can't be serious. Try to delegitimize the election of a duly elected president? Trying to negate the votes of his base? Lying morning, noon and night that Trump is a foreign asset of Russia, in bed with white supremacists, hates people of color....wants to make America white again....

but go ahead and trot out the old echo chamber rot the brain Fox News ad homs. Seems to be all some have left...

Oh wah. The right is being victimized. Trump is a foreign asset of Russia? Well, Obama was a Kenyan Muslim. Trump said so himself. That's how politics is done in the 21st. century USA. Delegitimize ? Is that even a word? Whatever, half the political right said Obama didn't even have a right to run. So a little less of the sob-sister routine would be appreciated.
Trump will continue to have scorn and contempt heaped on him, probably long after he's insulted his last opponent and roused his last crowd of rabble. Nixon had far more respect after he was done with politics than Trump will get.

Polls are people's opinions.

Ran across an interesting article:
In “The Rise of Trump, the Fall of Prejudice?” sociologists Daniel Hopkins and Samantha Washington found that since the 2016 campaign and election, “white Americans’ expressed anti-Black and anti-Hispanic prejudice declined.”

The Rise of Trump, the Fall of Prejudice? Tracking White Americans' Racial Attitudes 2008-2018 via a Panel Survey

Abstract

In his campaign and first few years in office, Donald Trump consistently defied contemporary norms by using explicit, negative rhetoric targeting ethnic/racial minorities. Did this rhetoric lead white Americans to express more prejudiced views of African Americans or Hispanics, whether through the normalization of prejudice or other mechanisms? We assess that question using a 13-wave panel conducted with a population-based sample of Americans between 2008 and 2018. We find that via most measures, white Americans' expressed anti-Black and anti-Hispanic prejudice declined after the 2016 campaign and election, and we can rule out even small increases in the expression of prejudice. These results suggest the limits of racially charged rhetoric's capacity to heighten prejudice among white Americans overall. They also indicate that prejudice can behave like an issue attitude: rather than being a fixed predisposition, prejudice can respond thermostatically to changing presidential rhetoric and policy positions.

Science from academics, apparently.

So what's all the accusation about then?

Only the looniest of Liberals still believe that debunked fake story.

When the demanded political narrative and political propaganda overshadows the factual facts and transcript of the matter.

Don't worry, he has five more years to get it right.

If Trump gets another four years your country will never recover. The American hegemony will go out with a whimper and be the shortest-lived in world history.
And the architects of American dominance are already turning in their graves. You guys are squandering your inheritance.

The electorate knows phony and they can smell it a mile away. Trump knows who he is. Always has. They keep waiting for him to change and it's a fool's errand. Trump is Trump. You take him, warts and all. People like me don't mind it so much. I want a President of action, not some loquacious community organizer who preens to get an ill-gotten Nobel Peace Prize (which Obama would have garnered more of certainly, if he'd met with SoKo's leader at the DMZ for God's sake).

The dichotomy is fascinating to me. Trump, the billionaire with a "B", literally descended from his gilded penthouse, down an escalator, to become our President. It's insane how much he connects to everyday Joes in America. Again, it's the authenticity thing and being told they matter to him. What a welcome change from the disdain dripping from Hillary mouth or the contempt of Obama calling them "bitter clingers".

Constitutional liberties under assault by authoritarian leftists?

What liberties are you talking about?

And who is trying to take them away?

Be specific.

I realize that Sham Hammity and Limpballs like to scare you with these idiotic memes, so here’s your chance to make a fact based argument.

Freedom of Speech
Freedom of Religion
The Right to Bare Arms
Judicial Review, due process
Disregard of the Charter
Separation of Powers

And lets not leave out treason and corruption.

Fair. The electorate knew full well Trump and his warts, given his prominent public exposure prior to announcing, and voted him in anyway, warts and all. Still, I maintain that even with warts and all, Trump is a better president than what I believe Hillary would have ever been or could have ever hoped to be. At this point it's pretty much 'baked into the cake', much to the leftists aggravation and consternation, which, in itself, is humorous to see and laugh at.

No doubt about it. Good point about his construction background.

Nah, Trump's rhetoric doesn't inspire violent reactions.

One guy making a tee-shirt you don't like. Brilliant.

Political rhetoric is not responsible for the actions another person short of it actually meeting the legal standard of incitement.

Trump's political rhetoric is no more responsible for any violent reactions than Bernie's political rhetoric is responsible for the congressional baseball practice shooting, no more responsible than Obama's anti-police rhetoric being responsible for the Dallas cop shooting and no more responsible than Warren or Bernie being responsible for the Dayton shooting, as none of any of their political rhetoric meets the necessary legal standard of incitement.

You can play your political / partisan one sided game and rhetoric all you want, it doesn't negate the basic truth of the above statement.

In fact, the political rhetoric that most closely comes to actual legal incitement would be Max Water's call to public confrontation, harassment and assault at non-political venues and events against any and all administration officials.
