Well written Op/ed:

Everyone will eventually turn on Trump. Even Steve Doocy.

It's too soon to say when Donald Trump's presidency will end, but it's not too soon to say how it will end. It will end in disgrace. And when it does, Trump's defenders will turn on him. Some already have.

Trump's sycophants are as loyal as he is — which is to say, not at all. In The Art of the Deal, Trump counted Roy Cohn as a friend, calling him "a truly loyal guy." After Cohn contracted AIDS, Trump "dropped him like a hot potato," according to Susan Bell, Cohn's longtime secretary

The people who are loyal to Trump are loyal not because they like him as a person but because they have something to gain from him. In an interview with The New York Times, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) admitted that he embraced Trump "to try to be relevant." So far, his plan has worked superbly — Graham has a recurring slot on Hannity. Once Trump is gone, however, Graham will no longer need the man he once dismissed as "the world's biggest jackass." He will find someone else to latch onto, and he will forget about Trump just as he forgot about John McCain.

.......

Trump's post-presidency will be sadder and more pathetic than his presidency. His presidential library will be neither presidential nor a library. His memoir, if someone writes one for him, will be dreadful — ghostwritten, poorly written, replete with falsehoods and errors, and bereft of insights and useful information. His presidential papers will contain such statements as "Horseface"; "trade wars are good, and easy to win"; "a very stable genius"; and "your favorite President, me!" No mainstream public figure will want to be associated with his legacy.

.......

After resigning in disgrace, Richard Nixon partially rehabilitated himself. He wrote a 1,120-page memoir and a succession of books about foreign policy. He counseled presidents and appeared on serious news programs to opine on world events. Time columnist Hugh Sidey, who had chided Nixon during Watergate, called him a "strategic genius." President Clinton gave Nixon a fawning eulogy.

Jimmy Carter is widely regarded as having been a better ex-president than a president. His approval rating rose from 31 percent in 1980 to 64 percent in 2009, thanks largely to his humanitarian work. According to The Washington Post, he "helped renovate 4,300 homes in 14 countries for Habitat for Humanity." Trump, on the other hand, reportedly appropriated money meant for a children's cancer charity.

............

After Trump leaves office and has fewer things to do, people will have fewer reasons to listen to him. Ex-President Trump will call Fox & Friends every morning, but they will ignore him. Instead of ranting on air, he will leave voicemails for Steve Doocy's assistant's intern.

====================

Let's mark this one down. Trump's presidency will end with a whimper, if not in disgrace. And when that happens, virtually every Trump acolyte (including those here on DP) will begin the process of distancing themselves from the legacy of corruption, incompetence, immorality and shame that Trump will leave.

Already, we're seeing some of that from the Righties on this board. And it's only going to get worse.

They will turn on him like they did on McCain.

Thanks for posting OP, it's a good read.

Trump's Presidency is going to end with a new Reality TV show once he's done.

I know the Trump hating media won't talk about it much, but more and more evidence of corruption by the Obama administration directed against Trump, his campaign and anyone associated with him keeps becoming public.

The latest is the Bruce Ohr 302's.

Next will be the Archey Declarations, the DOJ IG investigation results about the Comey memos and FISA abuse.

Beyond that is the Durham investigation in to the predicate for Crossfire Hurricane.

All of that has the potential to ensure that Trump is reelected in 2020...in spite of the massive media campaign of spin, speculation, innuendo, hyperbole and lies.

Moral of the story: Don't count your chickens.

I thought that was the moral of the 2016 election.

I find these types of predictions made by leftists kind of amusing. They're made way in advance so when they fail to come true, no one remembers them.

Remember the part in the movie "Casino" where Ace (Robert diNiro) gets his own TV show?

Painful to watch? Wait till you get a load of what Trump's show will look like.
I'm guessing it will be similar. :lamo

Will you be on suicide watch?

No, but I'll be watching for you to start screaming at the night sky.

LOL!!

Wow. The delusion is strong in this one. I expected Trump to win in 2016. So you can keep your delusion to yourself.

Trump's Presidency is going to end with a new Reality TV show once he's done.

I always heard that the whole purpose of the campaign was to lather up enough people to launch Trump TV. Nobody (including Trump) ever thought he would win.

Haha. Keep listening to the lying media, leftists. I know it makes you feel real.
If Warren is the nominee, Trump will very likely get four more years in which you can make up all kinds of BS about him.
So, get ready..

Trump's Presidency is going to end with a new Reality TV show once he's done.

Different from the one he's running now?

Meh

Trump will receive much different treatment if he loses the election in 2020, than if he wins and stays in office for 4 more years.

I don't think it's a given that the media will ignore him, either. If he loses in 2020, there is no doubt he will spend all his time bashing whoever beat him. The right wing echo chamber will eat it up. It's not like he's going to care about the usual decorum by which ex-Presidents refrain from discussing their replacements.

Gee, what a shock....more bat-crap-crazy conspiracy theories from the bowels of the alt-right blogosphere (and FoxNews).

I'm shocked...shocked, I say.

And it's always the ones who whine the most about popular perceptions of them and their ilk (i.e. Mycroft, etc.).

Just as there was not one one single ethical or corruption scandal throughout the entire Obama era, there will be no new Obama "scandals" under the Trump/Bar era. At least, not legitimate ones. We have transitioned, as a country, from the least corrupt presidency in history...to the most corrupt and incompetent in history.

But it's always funny to see how the wingnuts respond to poignant criticisms of Trump with tangential attacks on Obama/Clinton, isn't it? You people are nothing, if not predictable.

I disagree. The White Supremacists, and their supporters, will stick with Trump, and laud him as one of the great POTUS' imo. Publicly defending them, saying some are "very fine people" will long be remembered fondly, as they naturally deny that he ever said it. Wink wink nudge nudge ;) .

The opinion piece is just one of many that says president Trump is doomed. Most days MSM is
predicting some terrible catastrophic event that will take down president Trump. Remember
during the 2016 election we were told over and over Trump could never win... Never. It was
President Hillary Clinton, 95 % chance of that happening? The 1st women president.....
Just another goofy lefty dream about the president, president Trump that is!

What would be the difference between white supremacists and their supporters...in your mind?

IF Trump loses in 2020, I have no doubt that he will spend the time between the election and the next inauguration trying to get the election nullified. After that fails, he will continue with the bashing as you said, but I'm not sure the right wing echo chamber will be loud enough to matter. Most people will be fed up enough not to care. In the immortal words of someone or other: "Don't go away mad, just go away".

I think if trump is not in jail, when he's not defending himself from law enforcement, he'll be setting new records in trying to cash in on his having been president globally. He'll try to keep the loyalty of his base, simply for his own benefit that the more influence he has, the more he can make money in various ways. If a foreign enemy wants to pay him to say something to help wrongdoers, he'll be happy to say it.

Well that's a possibility, too. I'm not thinking about them. They'll always be among us. I'm talking about the Trump acolytes who fancy themselves as "not racist" and "not bigoted"....yet who worship Trump's bigoted rhetoric and racist policies/agenda. These are the wingnuts who whine and whimper about being viewed as ignorant...and as bigots and racists (even as they spew ignorance and bigotry and endorse racism), because deep down they know they are wrong.

So I'm banking on history as the great predictor of the future behavior of these people. And I remember how,by the mid-70's, it was almost impossible to find supporters of Jim Crow AFTER it had been formally dismantled. They didn't all magically undergo a collective personal renaissance. They just changed their public behavior...and that's all that can be expected.

I think the same thing will happen in the aftermath of the Trump era in America. Within 10 years of Trump's exit (i.e. 2030...and it will be in disgrace, of some sort...no doubt about it) ...as the history and details of the Trump legacy are being written...it will be all but impossible to find white Americans who will be willing to admit they were supporters of many of the policies and actions taken by this president. From immigration....to voting rights....to white nationalism....to the breathtaking levels of dishonest, public corruption and incompetence....etc...we will see that virtually no conservatives willing to admit their support.

Mark it down. Past is prologue. When it comes to human behavior, some things (and people) just do not change.
