So this is where the Evangelical Christians draw the line?

Evangelicals, the people whose heads exploded when Bill Clinton was accused of being a womanizer and it was proved that he got a BJ in the White House, turned a blind eye when Trump committed adultery against each of his three wives.

They looked the other way when he says he coveted another man's wife on the Access Hollywood tape. They apparently have no problem with his lying about anything, big or small. They don't care when he attacks a Gold Star Family or mocks a reporter with a disability.

But Evangelicals do have limits, a point at which they cannot forgive Trump. And what would that point be?

"Taking the Lord's name in vain."

You read that right. The Christian Right will forgive Trump virtually anything, including the president's racist dog whistle white nationalist rhetoric, even if it spurs nutjobs to rise up and slaughter dozens of innocent people. But they will not remain silent when Trump says "Goddamn!" That is a bridge too far, and Trump advisers have warned him to tone down that swearing because that makes them very "uncomfortable." You can read about their concerns here.

You have to understand, evangelicals don't care about ethics or morals. They only care about power. Trump and Pence protect their power.

So they were not uncomfortable when this man talked about grabbing women's private areas, or when he endorsed Judge Moore the lover of high school girls in Alabama, when he mimiced and belittled entire ethnic groups? So here we learn that they have some pretty tough skins, these Christians but they are not Vulcans, living day through day without any feelings of embarrassment or shame. They really do care about the dignity of the Oval Office.

I hope and aspire as an atheist to someday gain that moral compass through the Holy Bible, that they have been using to guide them all through Trump's Presidency.

The problem is that the Trump did his swearing while they watched. Not only that, but there were no evil liberals saying that he was swearing. Denial works best if there is a sliver of uncertainty to pin itself on. Like Trump denying it was his voice on the Hollywood Access tape. They watched Trump live at a rally, swearing. They also didn't have evil liberals attacking Trump for swearing, which have pushed their defend/deny buttons into unthinking defensive rage. The result is that they noticed for the first time that Trump is not a model Christian.
