Texas is a swing state, meaning it could go red or blue, democrat or republican in 2020. If Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ran as president, Texas is sure to go republican. Texas has a lot of electoral votes.

What do you think?

Texas isn't really a swing state.

People say that, but Republicans hold all statewide offices, majorities in the legislature, etc.

I think Abbott would make a great nominee, but how old is he? would he still be a credible candidate in 2024?

What do you think?

There is no chance in hell that he will run for the presidency in 2020!
Abbott strongly supported Trump for the 2016 election and will support him on 2020

Gov. Greg Abbott is pushing back against the suggestion that his support for Donald Trump is lukewarm, saying "of course" he is all in for the Republican presidential nominee — and that he hopes Trump wins Texas by double digits.

He is 61 yrs old. If you haven't made the nominee by 65 I say you give it up.

What do you think?

Do you think he might win the Republican Party nomination when the incumbent is in the running? Has that ever happened before?
Or maybe you think he'll run as an independant. Neither course sounds likely to succeed, frankly.

Abbott is a complete and utter moron who indulged Jade Helm conspiracy theories.

What do you think?

If Trump wants to run for reelection, no one stands a chance of taking the nomination from him. 84% of all Republicans want Trump to run for reelection, 10% do not. Question 99.

I would rather have Abbott than Trump, but I'm not a Republican, have no say in their primaries. Regardless, I sure wouldn't put Texas in the swing state category. The last time Texas went Democratic was 1976 when it voted for Jimmy Carter. I wouldn't classify Texas as solid Republican or solid Trump, but very likely which means Texas isn't in the competitive column, but could become so at sometime in the future.

Abbott is a complete and utter moron who indulged Jade Helm conspiracy theories.

He not only indulged. He sent troops to monitor the U.S. military's most elite soldiers in an exercise.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered members of the Texas Military to monitor federal troops in an upcoming two-month training exercise planned for the Lone Star State.

Operation Jade Helm will bring the U.S. military's most elite soldiers, including the Green Berets and Navy SEALS, to Texas for simulated special operations in a hostile territory. But plans for the exercise have roused fears in many Texans of a federal occupation.
