When Everything's Racist

I was walking in the parking lot today at work. Suddenly I became aware that 200 years ago, it was likely farmland. In 1819, a white farmer probably walked on the very same land I was walking just then. He walked those steps during a time when slavery was legal. I was complicit because I was re-tracing his very steps in that parking lot, so I ask the democrats for forgiveness.
What color was the parking lot you were walking all over?

Dr. Suess is racist.

Negan is racist.

White people love dogs so much because they miss owning slaves.

So owning a dog is racist if you're white.

People who think Hilter was a filthy racist are racist.

Being pro-life is racist.

Teaching English grammar is racist.

Disney's The Lion King is racist.

Nancy Pelosi is a racist.

Calling Ilhan Omar out for her Antisemitism is racist. It's racist to be critical of the racism of certain people.

Putting a man on the moon was racist.

Calling Communist Chinese "Chicoms" is racist.

Calling North Koreans "Norks" is racist.

Calling out the incompetence of Puerto Rico's governor is racist.

Using the term "illegal aliens" is racist.

ICE is racist.

US Immigration Law is racist.

Picture IDs are racist.

Enforcing laws against voter fraud is racist.

Calling out Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib's ties to the Nation of Islam and its leader Louis Farrakhan is racist.

Supporting Israel is racist.

And I could go on like this forever, which would be racist by the lights of these folks.

When Everything is Racist, Part Deux - Victory Girls Blog

I'm so old I can remember when racists really were racist, like LBJ and Woodrow Wilson. I mean to say, racists who said right out loud that non-whites were inferior and only good to be fooled, cheated, and oppressed in whatever way pleased them. They made it a matter of law.

Ahhh. The old defend racism by trivializing racism ploy eh?

Why not. It will probably work with much of Trump's base.

Who are victory girls and why are they complaining about people calling them racists?

Racist right wingers trying to pretend they and their party is not being racist by trying to deflect and claim it is thrown out too much. Not going to work, it is undisputable that Trump is a racist POS and is playing that up to pander to racist republicans voters and no amount of deflecting is going to change that.

BUt as typical cowards right wingers are, instead of admitting it because they are ******s scared of the ramifications, they try to pretend and deflect.

And what exactly is the cure other than the obliteration of this culture, its society, and engaging in total iconoclasm of the past and preventing any form of veneration of it? Should anything be preserved? And if so, what?

To think that culture is the same thing as ethnicity and race is racism. I am sure you already knew that, though, right?

What should be preserved? Maybe some of the founding principles and ideals of this country:

"I had always hoped that this land might become a safe & agreeable Asylum to the virtuous & persecuted part of mankind, to whatever nation they might belong."
-George Washington

Statues and monuments change all the time. Those put in place to intimidate black people 100 years after the war must be removed or relocated.

To be against change is absurd.

Being against racist monuments to terrorist regimes is not anti American. We don't do ISIS monuments.

I am not talking about monuments to Confederate "War Heroes" or battle flags. I am talking about symbols that had hitherto been points of national unity, such as the very first flag of our country.

Your post is racist.

I wonder if that poster will now imply that you are a cheerleader or an apologist for racism?

:coffeepap:

Yeah. This is also the ploy of defending all of Trump's dangerous, malicious lies by trivializing them because there is just so much of them.

Racist, stupid and dishonest. The liberal trifecta

Are you sure you are addressing my comment, ataraxia? When did I claim that culture was the same as ethnicity or race, or could have only been birthed from any particular race or ethnicity? The United States has had a culture of flag-waving patriotism, civic duty, neighborliness, and freedom of conscience which has transcended partisan divides. That is not a derivation from any particular race or ethnicity.

That flag is fine in an historic context. It will remain in all history books.

It represents a time when women were practically property and black people were property. A time when the average man had no say in his democracy. A beginning but a dark age. Not something to harken back too. America today much more exemplifies the principles of our nation. It's reactionary to fly old flags in anything but an historic purpose. To be reactionary is to be bigoted.

Yes I was.

You had said "And what exactly is the cure other than the obliteration of this culture, its society, and engaging in total iconoclasm of the past and preventing any form of veneration of it? Should anything be preserved? And if so, what?"

Last I checked, all the national monuments in DC were in place and no one was talking about taking them down.

It sounds like your only concern is the Nike flag issue. It sounds to me like calling that one thing "obliteration of this culture, its society, and engaging in total iconoclasm of the past" is bit more drama than the incident warrants.

I do not think it is. It was a corporate decision, but it was the result of an increasingly-held view that because evil existed and was tolerated in the past, those publicly-displayed reminders must wiped out. There seem to be an increasing number of people who, if given the power and opportunity, would engage in iconoclasm of monuments and reminders of our nation's past and our country's founding. And if anyone wishes to preserve for even perfectly reasonable or anodyne reasons, your motivations and integrity must be called into question and portrayed in the worst possible light.

Certainly, the Washington and Jefferson Memorials remain standing today, with the same emblazoned on them. I want to make sure they remain standing tomorrow.

And I will ask you, if an increasing number of self-described liberals claim that the Washington and Jefferson Monuments dotting the country and in Washington D.C. are symbols of racism and slavery, and that the personal evil that the men engaged for having been the beneficiaries of slavery outweighed any good that they did, will you stand against this tide? Or will you remain silent?

I wouldn't worry about it.

This must be the Great America you want Donald Trump to return us to?

I kind of like the version of America where racists are so scared of being labeled a racist that they have to publicly hide their racism behind dog whistles. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer a world were Gay people can be out and proud to be themselves, whereas, the homophobic bigots who hate them are the ones hiding in a closet.

You sound like the leader of Iran claiming homosexuality doesn't exist in Iran. No, it's there it's just that gay people are scared to let their sexual orientation be known by the public out of fear of repercussions. The same thing has been true in America. Racism didn't go away the Right has just been very careful about choosing the right words in public to make it seem less racist. Instead of straight up attacking Mexicans and calling them Wetbacks you pass a bull**** law which you know they are highly likely to break so you can justify you're hatred of them as being tough on crime. Never-mind the fact that you're not raiding the homes of any white undocumented immigrants from Canada.

Loved the bio on one of the contributors:

Toni Williams loves this country so much, she cries during the National Anthem.

I wonder if she cried when she saw Trump molesting our flag.

Or whenever she sees the illicit, illegal defacement of the flag for the thin blue line folks; or those that fly the flag of a nation we ground to dust?

That's idiotic and dishonest deflection.

Meanwhile Fletch here can't come up with his own idiotic and dishonest deflection.

The intellectualism of DP's conservative posters is simply overwhelming.

The intellectualism of your refutations is simply overwhelming.

Racist, stupid and:lamo dishonest. The liberal trifecta

Actually, that's Trump's opinion of his base. :lamo

He literally said he loves the poorly educated to his base. His primary campaign strategy to energize his base is to make racist attacks. He threw his supporters who chanted "send her back" under the bus, implying they were racists. He constantly lies, and his base defends his lies.

So quit blaming liberals, it's what Trump says about you! :lamo

EDIT: Were you one of those people who defended the chant? Then Trump has implied that you are a racist. Are you OK with him doing that?

There is nobody here who applauds racism.

Nonsense. Many here applaud Trump, even when he makes racist tweets and racist attacks. For example, many here applauded Trump for telling those four coloured women to go back to where they came from.

Christ, how have you missed it? They do stuff like that all the time.

What color is the sky in your internet?

Apparently she completely missed the thread where Trump supporters were applauding him for his racist attacks on those four women. The thread I'm quite sure she participated in. SMH.

I suspect her answer is going to be that it wasn't racist. Because nothing is racist. Those "very fine people" carrying the flags with swastikas? They're not racists, they just think red and black brings out the colour in their eyes.
