    E pluribus unum

E pluribus unum (/ˈiː ˈplɜːrɪbəs ˈuːnəm/; Classical Latin: [ˈeː ˈpluːrɪbʊs ˈuːnũː])—Latin for "Out of many, one"(translated as "One out of many" or "One from many")—is a 13-letter traditional motto of the United States
Isn't the job of a leader to unite his nation? If you're a Mayor, part of your job is to settle disputes citizens have and lead them to work together towards common goals. Is Trump doing his job as a leader? Is he even attempting to unite us?

Well, I've been told that red-baiting half the nation isn't meant to be divisive.

there is an old saying, and it has been applicable in DC now for many many years

    it takes two to tango

neither side wants to work with the other on anything...cant let other side WIN (or even show they might be winning)

so we have gridlock, and the pubs doing everything they can to shut down Obama's programs...and the democrats doing the exact same thing on Trump

there are no Tip O'Neill's willing to reach across the aisle....there is no one willing to compromise on either side

It takes two to tango but we only have one leader, right?

We can argue about whether Trump is racist or nativist till the cows come home but it's clear that he's not trying to unite the country. Every other president tried to unite the country. After 9/11 Bush spoke against Isalmaphobia to unite the country. I can't remember Bush, Clinton, Obama or any other president demonizing people and telling them to leave the country.

After two and a half years of the phony Russia Investigation, lunatics screaming "impeach" for no reason and a media that won't report anything positive about him, I think Trump's shown a great deal of patience.
It wasn't really surprising that when Nancy and Chucky went in to talk to Trump about infrastructure, Trump basically told them "no deal" until the impeach insanity stops.
"In one voice, our nation must condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy,” Trump said, standing beside Vice President Pence. “These sinister ideologies must be defeated. Hatred has no place in America.”

It's extremely hard for someone to unite when you have a massive influential organization doing everything they can to divide...but Trump is doing his best.

If anyone says Trump is a good leader, I would call the men with the butterfly nets to find that person.

Trump is not a uniter. He's a divider. He thrives on chaos. He thrives on dissent and anger and hatred.
It's disgraceful. I'm going to maybe and I'm looking at it very seriously. We're doing some other things that you probably noticed like some of the very important things that we're doing now. But we're looking at it very seriously because you can't do that. - President Donald J. Trump

Since they can't beat Trump at the ballot box, the opposition "thrives on chaos, dissent, anger and hatred." For sure. It's not working, though.

Absolutely not! He has done nothing but divide the country, his inflammatory racist and dictator-like rhetoric shows that he wants republicans to hate democrats, whites to hate all non-whites, Americans to hate anyone who is welcome to immigrate to our country.

He wants all US citizens to literally worship him, that's why he lies and makes the press out to be the enemy of the people. He didn't have far to go, but he's gone way off the deep end with his hate and lies.

He wants to make America like N. Korea, Russia and China, so he can control what people read or hear, and what they say, they can all kiss his feet is his ultimate wet dream. To him and many of his supporters, make America great again means make America white again. Sad situation this country is in with this psychopath in office.

The question ought to be, “Do the people want to unite?” Judging by nearly all of the above posts, that answer is no. Even the OP implies it’s all the fault of DJT. Fact is, everyone has made mistakes. Everyone is responsible. But it is all forgivable and most assuredly fixable. You just have to do it. No excuses.
