I do not think so. What he did do is recognize the party for what it was and that is the party of white men who do not want to give up their status of the top dog. He has allowed those people who are for a white America to come out of the wood work and spout their hatred of anyone not like them and do so with impunity. I see a lot of posts by people who have been told to go home to where they belong or that they should only speak English if they want to stay here and be "real" Americans. I really laughed out loud when I read one of those about a Native American who was told to go back to where he came from because the stupid person could not see the difference between a Native and an Arab. God, the stupidity overwhelms me at times. So, no, Trump did not change the GOP, he saw it for what it had become and used that to get elected.

Trump has certainly affected the Republican Party, but he hasn't changed its nature.

While he has given the rank and file an alternative...not to mention the changes they've been wanting for a long time...the GOP Elites are still there. The Republican Party's nature won't be changed until they are gone.

He taught the Republican Party how to win; how to interact with the media; how to use social media.

WOW! A true mind reader. You know all that about someone you have never met or spoken with? That's what I find amazing about liberals. They know what everyone thinks and they want everything a rich person has. "Love it or leave it" is a term used in the 60's and 70's during the Vietnam war against leftist commies like Bill Ayers, Angela Davis and many others of all colors and genders. It's funny how the party of the KKK (The Democrat Party) thinks they have changed. LOL!!! Now they hate white people and themselves if they are white. Dazed and confused are the Democrat Party loyalists. Can't think for themselves. How pathetic your Party and line of thinking is. You need to stop watching CNN and MSNBC. They make minds mushy.

* yawn*...what a silly, baseless, asinine rant...Calls out others for 'mind reading', then, tries and fails miserably to perform his own mind reading....comedy gold..

The very last true Republican/American in the party was John McCain!!!

No, he didn't really change them, he just emboldened them more. They'd never entirely left all this behind, when the shift happened during the Civil Rights era, but it'd been kinda kept under the surface usually.

W Bush and the Tea Party movement towards the end of his admin were obviously moving in that direction already.

Of course Trump has changed the nature of the Republican Party. In years gone past if a Republican would have openly professed he took a former KGB's word over the word of the FBI, or was stupid enough to profess he's in love with a murderous dictator, because that dictator ' writes me beautiful letters', The GOP of yesteryear would have disowned his traitorous ass in a New York second. Remember when the Republican Party's mantra involving any/all things communist was " Better dead than Red!" ? Now they applaud him when he craps on patriots and vets like McCain, and ignore the fact he sucks up to the likes of Putin and KJU for the entire world to see.

How do you explain Republicans of non-white ethnicities?

It's so true. There is no more GOP. it's only Trumpists. Any Republicans with an ounce of morals has abandoned the party. When Trump is gone so will the GOP.

Nah, the Republicans have always been hacks that put their team over everything else. The stuff they're glossing over may be a bit more out-there than in the past, but the behavior is the same.

Except when he ran against Obama. He was a nazi and a racist, then. :lamo

Nope he was still a class act and he had my vote right up until he put Palin on the ticket..

What you have written just makes what I have written more true. I will bet you are a more than 40 year old white person. And i do not hate white people as I am one myself, but being white does not blind me to the racism in this country. I saw lots of it growing up in the south in the 60's. And to prove my point about the GOP, after making his racists remarks, Trump's poll numbers went up in the GOP by 5%. The GOP loves Trump's openly racist speeches and maybe you do to.

You may not recognize the term, but when I was young in the 60's they were called uncle Tom's. And if you watch the crowds that come to Trump's rallies, you will see very few if any people there other than whites.

Hardly. McCain stood up the crazies instead of embracing and cultivating them like Trump. Here's an example of how honest and moral Republicans used to be.

McCain had a ton of issues, but he was a much better human being than most of the filth in the Republican party.

Trump isn't an elite? I wish you well in removing the elites of the GOP. Let me know when it's finished.

No. Trump is not a GOP Elite.

It's not up to me to remove them. I'm not a Republican.
