race is not culture

Oh please. Almost everyone in any nation is nationalist to some degree. If you are a One World Communist revolutionary, as you seem to be, that's a different story. Of course, we know, the communist revolutionaries were peaceful as little lambs.

Somehow it's only bad when Americans are patriotic and love their nation. It's only bad when Americans want to put Americans first.

You mean like a system of society or group living in which there is no private property, Society as a whole should own or at least control property for the benefit of all its members assuming that the basic nature of people is cooperation. Its leaders abuse and claim power for themselves. They see it is the best for their own self-interest.

You mean that kind of Socialism? Or were you referring to a Bernie Sanders Democratic Socialism of peaches and cream and unicorns.

Taking down statues of people who literally betrayed the United States is not socialism.

I never said anything specifically about the confederate statues. It doesn't bother me if they have their statues and flags, it's all in the past. But that's beside the point.

Plenty of historical American heroes are despised by progressives, because they weren't up to your progressive standards.

That's cool. You want to make America great again (which has always been an ill defined point about exactly when it was great) but I think it's already great. Not perfect but pretty darn good!

Well your progressive friends will debate you on that.

Name some names - which mainstream progressives despise which American heroes?

Tearing down Confederate statues is hardly unAmerican. They symbolize leaving people out. That is not American. It's the antithesis of our ideals, as is historical, and current, racism.

Government control and so-called socialism through the New Deal and WWII policies helped build the middle class.

If socialism is so wonderful, why don't we go all the way? Let the federal government confiscate all businesses and all property. You won't mind not owning anything or having any money, I am sure. It's all for the good of the whole society. Everyone will get everything they need, you can count on it. Governments are always honest and fair, after all.

The fact is, rural, white conservative christian America does not represetn America, yet these people think they do. THey live in their little bubbles, they all blow smoke up each other's asses, they have little to no interaction with other races, sexual orietnation, cultures, ideas.

The majority of people in this country live in cities. Cities which are liberal, which are full of all types of people, working and playing side by side. That's why people in cities tend to be more liberal, because they have experience other people. Those that live in little bubbles just get fed all this fear mongering about people different from them, and that's what their worldview is.

The melting pot of this country is the most American thing about us, and "American culture" is a mix of all the influences from all the other cultures that live here. And a heavy influence is mexican and hispanic culture.

But its typical of them, they are so full of garbage, hypocritical, contradictory that no amount of facts will matter. This day and age of internet allow the spread of lies and propaganda so easily

This sounds like it came straight out of a chapter from The Hunger Games.

I do NOT think the European/American culture is the only great culture that ever existed. However, it is our culture and we should be proud of it, or at least accepting of it. We should not hate our own culture just because things were done in the past that we now disapprove of. THAT is why Trump was elected, that hatred of this country and the lack of appreciation for anything that is good or great about our culture.

Very well said. This says it all about us. For years our culture has been searching for something good and meaningful. Finally we have someone who is presently bringing us all back in being proud and the bottom line is "American Pride".
Thank you President Trump.

Define your culture.

Taking down statues that literally only betray your skewed sense of morality because only you are the enlighten one is.

No, just guaranteed of basic human rights, as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights from 1948, spearheaded by the United States and now signed by almost all countries of the world, will suffice.

These people were fighting to preserve the institution of human slavery. You consider condemning that a skewed sense of morality?

Does being proud of your country mean you can’t ever point out any problems that need to be fixed?

Statues of people who hated the USA and fought against it, in an attempt to leave it.

You may need to be looking to yourself for something meaningful and significant to be proud of, and less to large impersonal forces like your “culture.” Usually people who lack those things in their personal lives end up looking to things like mass movements, cults, culture, and religion to fill that void.

Oh yawn...yawn.
The one thing I'm proud of is our President doing his job. Your queen wannabe Nancy has led the way in making our President the bad guy since her barrack " rick ross " obama failed to bring us down. Like it or not you liberal/Demos will not succeed in stopping our President.

That would make sense since the Republican Party was determined to prevent any spread of slavery, and the Southern Democrat leaders had threatened secession if the Republican candidate, Lincoln, won the 1860 election. After Lincoln won, many Democrat Southern leaders felt that disunion was their only option, fearing that the loss of representation would hamper their ability to promote pro-slavery acts and policies.

Kind of like it is today.

I figured since they were Democrats we should give them the benefit of the doubt as the Republican Party was determined to prevent any spread of slavery, and many Democrat Southern leaders had threatened secession if the Republican candidate, Lincoln, won the 1860 election. After Lincoln won, the Democrat Southern leaders felt that disunion was their only option, fearing that the loss of representation would hamper their ability to promote pro-slavery acts and policies.

Just like it is today.

Since you are such a history buff, can you tell us what was Nixon’s Southern strategy all about? What happened at the end of that campaign?

So that’s why we we should be honoring people who fought to preserve the institution of slavery?

I always fly my stars and stripes on every patriotic holiday, except for flag day. There's not enough mega-holiday-sales to alert me to the coming of that particular day and I find out about it too late.

I find the USA, Mom, and apple pie precious, and I have since I liked Ike. The person in the white house has never changed my feelings. In fact, I hardly recognized any of them.

Politics should never be your reason for patriotism. It's just dummies being dumb.

I forgot: I never noticed the statues.
