This Is What The Left Wants For Healthcare

It is no joke that people go across a border for out of pocket medical. Mexican border towns will have a dozen pharmacies within four blocks of the border. I know truckers that go four times a year for blood pressure medicine. Next to the pharmacy will be 2-3 dentists, an optometrist and some medical doctors. Cash only but it is often less than the copay.

The true problem is not your math error, it's that you actually thought that 17% of Canadians came to the US to get healthcare. It's a symptom of a delusional thought process in someone that refuses to admit that America ranks nowhere near the top in quality of care, percentage of citizens covered, healthcare outcomes, average life span, or any other health based metric.

Far more Americans, percentage wise and absolute, go abroad because they can't afford health care here. This is the objective fact that you are trying to tap dance around.

I lived in Minnesota for years and wifey grew up just outside Chicago so winter is not an unknown.
Yeah of course we would much rather stay in sunny delightful California.
And for now, it's all good despite Trump.

But if Trump succeeds in destroying this country and setting off the civil war he and his cult are having wet dreams about, and the SHTF, it would be a case of having to accept a new environment and living with winter again, but we'd be safe and secure.

I guess we'll see how it all pans out but I don't want to live in an authoritarian right wing fascist totalitarian dictatorship, which is where we seem to be headed.

Isn't that a little bit like not giving a damn if you **** up the environment where you live, or **** up the quality of work you do because you don't know the people who it will affect?

Eventually it's all gonna go away like all socialist systems. Enjoy it now before it all blows up. Socialism doesn't make sense in a country with more than 300 million people. I think we should start building the northern wall now.

Illegal immigrants receive treatment in the USA because of EMTALA, signed in 1986 by Reagan.

They receive treatment at the ER, which is five times more expensive than just going to the doctor.
That leaves us with Emergency Rooms like this:

Maybe thirty to forty percent of the people don't actually NEED to go to the ER but that is the only place that will do anything for them if they can't afford insurance or can't get a policy anyway due to their status.

That puts strain on already crowded ER's and it endangers the rest of the community.
And it winds up costing EVERYONE more because people who DO buy insurance premiums are paying that 5X ER care in the form of inflated premium costs.

Not very smart, or safe.

There has ALWAYS been a problem. At times it has hit crisis proportions, few if any dispute that.
How that crisis is handled is the problem.
If you think it is being handled properly, or you don't, that's all well and good.

I don't think immigration reform has ever been handled properly by either Democrats or Republicans.
This thread is ABOUT HEALTHCARE. And it makes no sense to just shunt millions of uninsured people over to the ER, which by the way includes uninsured legal residents and uninsured Americans, by the way.

EMTALA prevented bodies from piling up in the streets but it did it by telling hospitals that their Emergency Room had become a dumping ground for anybody who can't afford to pay for their own healthcare.

Stupid idea. Stupid, costly and dangerous. No other country ON EARTH has EVER done that.
Some countries DO JUST LET corpses pile up outside on the street.
That comes in second compared to EMTALA but not by much.

Years ago I had a friend who was an engineer for Allied Signal (now Honeywell) and he spent his winters in Seattle WA and his summers in Tucson AZ.

That was a great company. Used to be Allied Chemical before that. Headquarters was in the town I grew up in. A good portion of my friends had fathers that worked there.
