This Is What The Left Wants For Healthcare

More right wing complete hore**** dishonesty.

No, its not what liberals want. Also, take a look at this country. people are dying trying to ration insulin. People are sick and dying and have no medical care because they can't afford it. many bankrupted, made homeless due to medical bills.

So spare the copy and paste bull**** with no argument

Sixty-three thousand out of 33 million? That is an extremely LOW FIGURE.
You should be embarrassed to post a figure that low because it means that almost 97% of Canadians didn't feel the need to go elsewhere.

Now, admittedly it might actually mean that some of those sixty-three thousand Canadians might just be very wealthy and they can just hop aboard a jet and go wherever they want for medical treatment. But the trouble is, that is ALSO a very low figure, so it would still mean that it would be embarrassing to you because it STILL proves the OPPOSITE of the point you think you're making.

So when I read a headline that says:

63,000 Canadians Left Their Country to Have Surgery in 2016

My first thought is,

"Damn, Canada's healthcare must be even better than we originally thought!
ONLY 63,000 people left the country? WOW!!"

Let's say it's actually "sixty three thousand out of only a MILLION sick Canadians" instead....

STILL embarrassingly low.

I don't really know what Canadians, or Brits or any other country is doing about health care. I do know that before the ACA 45,000 AmeriCANs died because they lacked health insurance … EVERY year. I know that as a retiree on Medicare with a plan F supplement, that is very affordable an that I pay for, I am getting the BEST health care of MY LIFE. Good health shouldn't be a privilege, it is LIFE and right given to us by the Constitution. It's also a good investment for our Country, healthy people are productive people and less of a drain on society. Whatever other nations are doing we should do it better. America and AmeriCANs have reached the time where Medicare for ALL has come.

The Right continually complains about paying for things that are essential to the survival of this nation.
They'd rather suffer a generation of ignoramuses and sick people than invest in education and health care.
Instead of investing in helping lift homeless out of destitution on the street so that they can return to being productive members of society they instead want to criminalize homelessness so that the homeless wind up with a record that prevents them from EVER holding a decent job again for the rest of their lives.

Simple common sense seems to evade these people. They are Hell bent on creating a real life version of the movie "Idiocracy" in their own back yards. Then they'll complain about that by blaming the very liberals who are trying to prevent it.

Yeah, our healthcare system doesn't cover cosmetic surgery.

Canada? No of course not, nor should it.

You need nasal reconstructive surgery because you have difficulty breathing? I'm certain Canada covers it.
You WANT nasal reconstructive surgery because you hate the way your nose LOOKS? Shell out the bucks and go have it done wherever you like.

Am I right?

Common sense should be used on both sides. Unfortunately, government has nothing to do with common sense.

Pretty much....though cosmetic surgery can be performed in Ontario, under certain circumstances. Burn victims will get cosmetic surgery. I know a couple people now who lost a ton of weight, and had their excess skin removed (I think it's a body tuck?) and it was covered.

But if you want a better butt or boobs, well...you're gonna have to pay for that.

Aren't there like only 63,000 people who live in Canada?

There's 33 million, about six and a half million LESS than California, which is why...IF California is careful and attentive to proper planning, we COULD actually manage to offer a generous universal health care program IN California, and it would wind up being a big cost saver.

YES...YES, California taxes would go UP, WAY UP....taxes would be VERY HIGH in our state if we did that.
But on the other side of the coin, if California DID have UHC, guess what would go DOWN, and almost disappear?

Health insurance premium payments to profit based insurance companies.
Very few people would want to shell out MORE money for a health insurance premium when they can just use UHC instead.
And...if Canada is only seeing sixty-three thousand people going abroad out of however many million Canadians who are getting sick or needing treatment, that clearly shows that the majority of Canadians are happy with the healthcare they're getting from Canada's system.

California made an attempt at passing UHC a couple of years ago but both the State Assembly AND Governor Brown (now replaced with Newsom) SLAMMED the proposed plan as being sloppy and not well though out.

That means that as desperately as the majority of Californians WANT UHC, we're not intent on going off half-cocked about it.

When the time is right and a PROPER proposal is aired, we will eventually pass it and we'll see the result.
Far better to delay the idea and do some careful research and planning than just act on impulse because it SOUNDS good.

A lot of ideas SOUND good but aren't well thought out.
And YES, AOC's "Green New Deal" IS an example of a poorly thought out proposal.
At least it got the conversation started but the GND was never floated as legislation, just a resolution.

And it was poorly written by a rookie. AOC IS a rookie, no question about it.

About 37 million, but at least you're consistently ignorant on all topics and not just a few.

This sounds like something a small child would write.

Oh! So 4% of US citizens and 17% of Canadians are leaving the country for medical procedures?

63,000 out of 37 million is 0.0017%

No one could possibly be this stupid, you have to be messing with me right?

HAHAHA OMG OF COURSE a BURN VICTIM will get cosmetic surgery in Canada's system.
Yeah, I didn't imagine the system was heartless.

Funny thing, most veterans here in the USA don't get dental care from the VA unless they pay for it, but my wife got a LOT of dental care when it was proven that her problems were causing a deterioration in her overall health.
The moment that was demonstrated her doctor prescribed the full regimen, exams, cleaning, fillings, crowns, even two implants.
It was about four months worth of appointments to get it all done. And the result is she not only has her smile back, it resulted in a documented improvement of her other issues.
Her doctor was concerned about possible cardiac infections, and that was the tipping point.

If she had just asked for dental work because she didn't like the way her teeth looked, they would have told her to fork over the money to pay for it.

In general yes

I believe that in some provinces breast reconstructive surgery is not covered after breast cancer. Removal of moles is not covered unless deemed a medical requirement (ie potentially cancerous)

Not bad for being just off the top of my head. I'm sure you used a calculator. I noticed you edited your numbers that you incorrectly posted. Now who's stupid?
