The First Rule of Racism...

The chart that shows asylum requests is on page 7. There were 83k requests in 2015, 115k in 2016 and 140k in 2017. The best information I can find for 2018 shows 73k through September.

Thank you for that. I can't see it not sure why... but my flight is finally about to leave.
Will try to look at it at some point.
We may not agree politically but thanks for a civil debate.

And I'll just say this as a last note because I plan to sleep on this flight. There is no excuse for anyone to be in detention for longer than 30 days I know the power of the federal government and they can activate resources when needed. Those resources have not been activated to the border because this situation looks better as a visual.

Only you called someone a racist in this thread. Not me. I objected to racist BS. Why does someone objecting to racism cause you to call people racists?
You did and in a particularly offensive manner. I don't ask for an opology, though you owe one, but do not kid yourself on this point.

Except for the fact that it doesn't. Read your own quote.

I cannot tell if you're actually serious. You said that they can leave freely any time they want and I proved you wrong.

That is correct. I did not say they had a right to be in USA. They are not detained. They can even request assistance in leaving the country.

And yet you have no source for that. Did you even read the second part? I'm guessing not.

...is to deny you’re a racist. You are then set up if you are Caucasian to tell American citizens of color to go back to the countries they came from. The fact that the citizens you insult came from the same country you do does not spoil your racist message at all. Your racist supporters understand perfectly.

But imagine how telling someone to go back to the country they came from would go over if the statement was from a black American to a white American. See, it only works one way. That’s because it is a white racist trope.

Marcellus Osceola Jr, Chief of the Florida Seminoles, wants all white, black, Asian, Latino and everyone else who is not Seminole to back to the countries you came from.

First they came for the christians, and I did not speak out—because I was not a christian.

Then they came for the entrepreneurs, and I did not speak out— because I was not a entrepreneur.

Then they came for the white man, and I did not speak out—because I was not a white man.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Race? I'm not sure what you're talking about. Aren't we all Homo Sapiens?

Which isn’t a problem with masturbation (if your observation about that were true) but it is with racism. The country won’t heal from racism until we own up to it within ourselves.

This thread is great. I love watching liberal heads explode.

lol - and President Trump is a master at making it happen.

So now the hard left is saying that if you're accused of being a racist, and you deny it, you are confirming you are a racist.

LOL

Run with that. Please. Put it on billboards.

Everyday Americans are sure to warm to that.

Individuals who came here illegally and are requesting asylum are being kept in detention centers until their claims are processed. They are not previously free citizens being rounded up merely because of their ethnicity. They are not being kept confined for an undetermined amount of time. The detainees came here KNOWING that they risked detention and many actually sought out CBP so that they could begin the asylum process. The idea that one would choose to compare the cases of border crossers being detained to Jews in Nazi camps, Japanese in FDR's camps or Uighurs in Chinese camps is insane. The ONLY comparison is the detention. The purpose of the detention, the length of detention and the treatment of the detainees is COMPLETELY different.

They have broken no laws. Applying for asylum is no crime. Yet they are forcibly detained. They are not free to go. They are prisoners and these are concentration camps. Their treatment is a disgrace.
Trump, government accounts at odds on migrant detention center quality

Conditions here are worse than in FDR's internment camps for Japanese citizens. Length of detention could be years due to the backups in the system.
concentration camp | Facts, History, & Definition | Britannica.com
Concentration camp, internment centre for political prisoners and members of national or minority groups who are confined for reasons of state security, exploitation, or punishment, usually by executive decree or military order. Persons are placed in such camps often on the basis of identification with a particular ethnic or political group rather than as individuals and without benefit either of indictment or fair trial.

As soon as conservatives get a grip on their native language we can hope dialogue will begin.

Trump isn't a 'master' at anything except making himself, America and Americans a global laughing-stock, increasing your national debt, racism and lying. Or hadn't you noticed? (waits for 'what do we care what a foreigner thinks?).

I don't know, I've been alive for almost sixty years, and the conditions you describe have persisted in Europe for almost the entirety of that time. So like, I'm not worried.

What is "hope dialogue"? I'm afraid I haven't learned that part of my native language.

I note you couldn't deny the point.

The first rule of racism is to deny you are a racist. That's awesome. Geeze, how pathetic.

How does the executive branch increase the government debt?

The point is you didn’t make a point, that time or this time.

I just went through this with another user. It is not a crime to claim asylum. It is a crime to enter the country without declaring your presence and intent. If one claims asylum at a port of entry they can remain at liberty OUTSIDE THE US until their claim is processed. If, however, they choose to cross the border ILLEGALLY and then make their claim they have broken the law and will be detained while the initial phase of the claim process takes place.

Asylum IS NOT a human right and not every claim for asylum or for refugee status must be approved. Furthermore, the more people that choose to come across the border ILLEGALLY to speed up their claim process the more it bogs down the system. It's like a bunch of cars leaving the parking lot after a concert or sporting event. They can't all get through the exit at the same time so things back up. That's what's happening at the detention centers.

As far as "concentration camps", people need to back off that ****. The implication is both absurd and disgusting. The reason these people are in these detention centers is THEIR CHOICE. They had the option to go through the entry process legally and chose otherwise. They were not rounded up due solely to their ethnicity and their detention is strictly for the purpose of processing their immigration status. Most will be released even before that status is determined by the courts. It's not a humanitarian disaster no matter how badly the likes of AOC want to make it out to be.

Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights makes it quite clear that asylum is a human right. Ratified by the General Assembly of the UN (including America) in December 1948.
