The meaning of the term "American"

Let's say I'm a US citizen. My political views are that I want the US to be just like Venezuela. Are my views considered "American" simply because I'm a citizen of America?

Let's say there is a U.S citizen who has views that brutal dictators are to be believed over American intelligence communities. Are their views considered "American" simply because they are American?

Yes. If you read the Constitution, the founders wanted us to have the freedom of opinion.
It's disgraceful. I'm going to maybe and I'm looking at it very seriously. We're doing some other things that you probably noticed like some of the very important things that we're doing now. But we're looking at it very seriously because you can't do that. - President Donald J. Trump

America is what it is. Amerigo Vespucci was a cartographer who made a map of the New World and his name was bastardized to represent the lands newly discovered from pole to pole.

So, a citizen of Venezuela has as much right to claiming to be an American as any citizen of the USA.

However, his citizenship will remain Venezuelan and not United States.

If a citizen of the United States wants our country to be more like Venezuela, that citizen's views would be considered to be insane or inane or simply just the party platform of the Socialist-Democrat Party.

"American" describes somebody from 2 different continents and the isthmus that connects them.

American liberals are made up of millions of people and many do believe in our intelligence agencies. For both sides, it just depends on what those agencies are saying.

What a ridiculous example (Venezuela). Perhaps China or perhaps Russia given that the type of governments there are totally different to ours but most of the people there are happy and support their government and that would be a valid example to put this OP up, but Venezuela? Who in their right minds wants to support and live in a nation where there is no food, no medicine, no money, are persecuted just for asking for the basics for living and even have no gas for their cars in one of the richest nations in the world of oil.

Even those that voted for Maduro and once supported him want him out.

Difficult to respond to such a post unless one is an idiot or crazy as it can get.

Think man. before you put up such a garbage post.
