Raise your hand if you remember "America--love it or leave it."
Anybody?
I remember when "my country right or wrong" was truncated.
That was it, people would just say "My country right or wrong!" as if that ended all discussion.
The full saying was originally:
My country, right or wrong.
When right, to be kept right.
When wrong, to be made right.
When that was pushed in front of these nationalist fops, they responded with "America - - Love it or leave it", as if to imply that criticism of one's country was only to be interpreted as hatred, and no further discussion was to be allowed. "
Again, an authoritarian tool to block debate, a fundamentalist nationalist turdblossom of orgasmic dogma.
