I agree with Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) completely, not only about how republicans who continue to remain silent after Trump's continuing racist tweets are cowards and not representing what the core of the republican party used to stand for, but also about Trump's lack of understanding about the immigration process. He sees it and says it very clearly.

A political firestorm has erupted over tweets from President Trump telling four American women of color in the House to “go back” to where they came from. Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., joins Judy Woodruff to discuss what Trump is trying to achieve with his inflammatory rhetoric, why Republicans who don’t condemn his tweets “should be ashamed" and how the president has “broken the border.”

They've been using the racist Southern Strategy for over 1/2 a century in order to gather all the racists under their banner.

Now that it's paying off big time, why would they change tack?

I feel sorry for the Americans who aren't racists, who aren't willing to support a blatant racist like Trump for political expediency. Unsurprisingly, your country is getting know as a racist ****hole internationally.

Agreed.

The racists are happy Trump makes such blatantly racist tweets. And they are going to defend them by denying that the tweets are racist.

It's not like we haven't seen this before. Same thing happened when Trump publicly supported the KKK and Neo Nazis, saying some are "very fine people".

While the GOP Senate remains in McConnell gridlock, since the beginning of Obama.

At least some GOP Senators are finally calling these tweets out, like Murkowski, Ernst, Scott, Toomey and Portman. Only Hurd from the House.

L. Graham will have his hands full winning South Carolina next year.

So you don't think that people should ever criticize the US, point out problems, or try to fix those problems? Is that not the job of Congress? By that logic shouldn't Trump also leave? After all literally his entire platform was about how America is no longer great.

As I recall they proposed a whole Green New Deal and have been very active in Congress, you just do not agree with them. Why didn't Trump or anyone else that supports MAGA leave? All they have done is complain how America is no longer great.

I'm sixty, I recall hearing that in grade school-and it came from both Johnson fans and Nixon supporters depending on the year. and plenty of Democrats threw that at the "hippies" and anti war protestors.
