Yes, this kind of thing gets bandied about a lot whenever immigration is argued over.
What do we take from it? What's the logical conclusion?
(Note: what Trump said was indefensible. But I'm just talking about the cartoon and the idea(s) depicted in it.)
My point is that those who murdered millions of indigenous populations and stole their country have no leg to stand on when they say "go back to your country".
Most of us, including Trump, are descendants of "those" people.
We are all immigrants, and like Reagan says, you can't move to France and become a Frenchman, but you can move to American and become and American.
Trump really needs to learn that one point, he seems oblivious to it.
Moreover, criticism does not equal "hate". That's the logic he is using, and it is bogus.
Like I said, cartoons and memes like your come up whenever immigration is debated, not just in this context.
So how does acknowledging that "we are all immigrants" inform the immigration debate? Again, what conclusions should we draw from it?
Quit hating them. Diversity is our strength.
Trump's xenophobia affects policy, and farmers are suffering because of it.
We need to bring more, not less, of them in.
We need them.
What the **** are you confused about Harshaw. The President of the United States could stop tweeting (in general) racist garbage like a racist moron. That's the first logical conclusion to draw from people outraged at POTUS tweeting racists diatribe like the clown he is.OK, so what's the logical conclusion of that? Unlimited immigration? Open borders? If not, why not? On what basis is the limitation?

Progressives never get tired of saying this, but I get very tired of hearing it. The American settlers unintentionally killed most of the native Americans with infectious diseases. This is a well known fact.
And yes, the settlers also killed native Americans, but the settlers and the natives were FIGHTING each other. You make it sound like the native Americans just sat there like dodos and allowed themselves to be killed. No, they were good fighters, probably much better than the Europeans. If not for the infectious diseases, maybe they would have won and this would still be their land.

You get tired of hearing it? To stinking bad. You will stop hearing about it when it is no longer truth, and clearly you need to hear it some more because you still get it WRONG.
There was nothing unintentional about it, and claiming it as, a well known fact is BS.
You make it sound as if committing genocide, and breaking peace treaties is honorable tradition

No, but a more liberal, friendly, accommodating, policy towards those who want to come here.
The recent spike of those from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, the word is that coyotes have been drumming up business
by telling the locals 'the time is now to come to America, because Trump is going to close the border".
Trump is the cause of this crisis, owing to his extreme xenophobia.
Trump is the extreme right, but by opposing Trump, the left isn't asserting the only alternative is to totally open the borders.
No, the middle is the right path. Harmony is in the middle, the only place the pendulum rests is dead center.
That is the point.

Describe it. What's your policy? It's easy to say "better than what we have now." But that's not very helpful.
So, draw the blueprint.
And specifically, as you say you're not for open borders, on what basis do you exclude people?
