Alex acosta resigns

Where the F do you get that from?

Don't make stupid baseless attacks. Epstein and all his pedo cronies need to rot in prison.

Stop making stupid posts....

Yeah, I think he just misunderstood you.

It was senator Ben Sasse (R) that wrote a letter to the Justice Dept. seeking an investigation into their handling of the Epstein matter in December 2018.
Epstein and four co-conspirators received immunity from federal prosecution, and the deal also granted immunity to unnamed potential co-conspirators. Someone with a lot of power was pulling strings to get that kind of deal. My hope is that this new prosecution of Epstein will reveal the person(s) and that this time Epstein gets what he deserves.

Another one bites the dust, hey, hey!

Thanks, Trump haters. You did it again.

That reminds me. I forgot to do something yesterday. Thanks.

Hope this resignation does not stop the digging into WHY he (or people related to him) gave such a nice deal to the billionaire pedophile. You know... in case they got something in return...

I would have loved to been a fly on the wall at that ex parte meeting Acosta had at some resort with Epstein's defense team. Acosta definitely got something in return. ****ing gutter scum.

Due to the language in Acosta's deal, Epstein's lawyers are making the argument that the earlier deal means that any prosecution now is invalid. It's possible that Epstein doesn't see prison and that he won't be pointing fingers at anybody.

I hope so too. Corruption needs to be uncovered, and we know a corrupt deal was made, that included name and unnamed co-conspirators getting full immunity - for no reason. I'd like to see that thread pulled to its conclusion.

I agree that it is very “Clintonesque” and needs investigation.

We just witnessed another INSANE word salad from trump.

Doesn’t SDNY have new allegations?

Agreed.

For example, why did the Democrat DA in New York try to have Epstein's sexual predator classification lowered in 2011?

There is far more to this story than the public has been allowed to see.

Shame Acosta got caught in it's web.

The language is sufficiently vague that his lawyers are arguing that the deal applies to ALL Federal cases.

Ken White goes into detail:
1000/24thHat on Twitter: "Dear @SecretaryAcosta:

I do not believe we have spoken since graduation. I regret encountering you under these circumstances.

I was not able to attend your press conference, but I do have some questions.

While it's not assured that such an argument will work, it's an argument they have due to Acosta's deal.

This was inevitable. I’d really like to understand what all went on around that plea deal in the first place, and I hope we’ll find out in the near future.

The main reason Acosta is resigning is because Trump wants him to to kill some of the stories which shine too close to his own light. It will not work - or sound not work - as the Epstein story is now out there and connected to Trump. Their two man party with lots and lots of girls and women is just too suspicious to sweep under throng for two guys who both love the young girls.

And to think Viagra only gives the opportunity for a four hour boner. The Clinton hard-on is decades long, and the only one with this state of arousal in 2019 are Republicans. Go figure.

Epstein served his “time” in a county jail. Doesn’t that indicate state charges and not federal charges?

I’m not being lazy, I can’t find any details on the FL case.

This one feels different than the other firings. As someone else already noted, Acosta offered his own public resignation rather than getting fired via twitter by Trump. Second, I don't believe it's in Trump's behavior to "give in" to public sentiment, because doing so, in his eyes, makes him look weak. His base wants him to fight...on everything...and it's within his character to fight no matter what.

I'm not sure.

There's a lot we don't know about this deal, but it was very much a Federal case.

They all seem to write a book. Every reporter, commentator, former White House employee, their cousins brothers and uncles, all seem to write books on the subject of their own political viewpoint. They leave office and within months a book pop up that they've written and they're invited on every network to talk about it. How they manager to crank out book after book so quickly is beyond my comprehension. They must have a team of writers helping them.

Yeah, probably.
Joe Biden earned $15 million since leaving office, tax returns show - Los Angeles Times

Alex Acosta just now; "the focus needs to be on economy, job creation, and equality in the workplace and mining, that's where we should focus".

Everyone know the economy is strong, everyone knows the jobless rate is low, everyone knows EPA regulations have been removed for mining which may or may not have helped miners. People on both sides acknowledge all of that and give Trump (most) of the credit. But this country cares about other serious issues, not only the economy and the unemployment numbers or mining. We cannot put our faith and hopes completely into a party that has dismantled the rights of Congress given to them under the US Constitution. We can't put trust into a country whose priorities are those of adversarial governments like Russia and N. Korea. How can we trust a president that forgives a murderer like Mohammed bin Salman and believes him over our own CIA? We want to retain our allies in Europe not throw them away so recklessly.

We want our crumbling infrastructure repaired. The US has ancient failing dams and levis, crumbling bridges and Flint Michigan is still in a dangerous water crisis. Is it too much to expect that our president should be on the side of everyone and not solely partisan? We want a leader that expects his Congress to work with democrats to pass some bills that are meaningful to the entire country, not just to a select few and a Leader of the Senate that isn't blatantly and proudly blocking all bills coming from the republican House. We want Washington to act on our behalf not only on behalf of powerful corporations and super PACS. We want honesty, not bloviated rhetoric.

I can't help but get the message they're sending to look at those two or three things that are populist and ignore those red flags everywhere else. "Look over here -- don't look over there".

"By taking this job, I'm losing BILLIONS of dollars"

He's so ****ing stupid he actually thinks people believe him.

Yet we didn’t hear trump criticize his buddy Epstein for his crimes. We did hear him criticize Paul Ryan, amongst many others.

I agree with you - but - this one is different because part of the Epstein story comes too close to Trump himself for his own comfort. By eliminating part of the story - Acosta and his role - Trump hopes to cut the stories in half. And that is thought to be good for Trump.

Trump only cares about Trump. Everybody else is expendable and can be thrown under the bus at a moments notice.

How does one get county time for a Federal charge?

(Rhetorical question)
