Trump announced to the press that Alex Acosta is stepping down. There is no link to the story yet since it's just breaking.

This shouldn't be a surprise to most. His explanation of the Jeffrey Epstein deal just didn't hold water, particularly with a former prosecutor in Miami who rebuked Acosta's explanation.

Good!!!!

I like it when the DOL is in disarray, I have to deal with them all the time, and it is good when they are unstable.

SO MUCH WINNING......

If true, I wonder if it is so he can spend more time with his family and/or coach little league. Or is he going to write a book?

So you support giving Epstein a break. No surprise there.

That didn’t take long!

Presser didn’t help.

Ditto - No Surprise

Trump's confidence in Acosta appears to have gone POOF!

No collusion... no obstruction. No collusion... no obstruction. Oops, my bad, wrong case!

The Spin as I see it:

You know how Florida rolls! A state prosecutor's utter ineptness almost led to Epstein walking free. Acosta did the best he could with what he had. Epstein served time and had to register as a sex offender. Acosta saved the victims from further scrutiny and embarrassment. Critics can easily second guess decisions made in a bygone era.

As more details of the case emerge and circulate about the extent of Epstein's vast wealth and powerful connections, I expect the story and criticism of Acosta to gain momentum that leads to Acosta resigning this year.

Maybe. Or just go to work with a law firm and make 10 times what he made in government service. Maybe the next prosecutor will get the hint and make up facts to get a conviction with more jail time.

Either way, Acosta is a bum. A typical loser who is only there for the donuts:

Timeline
2009: On July 1, 2009, Acosta became the second dean of Florida International University College of Law.
2013: On December 31, 2013, Acosta became the new chairman of U.S. Century Bank, the largest domestically owned Hispanic community bank in Florida and one of the 15 largest Hispanic community banks in the nation.
2017: President Donald Trump announced in a press conference on February 16, 2017, that he would nominate Acosta to fill the position of United States Secretary of Labor after the nomination of Andrew Puzder was withdrawn.
2017: On April 27, 2017, Acosta was confirmed as Secretary of Labor by the U.S. Senate in a 60–38 vote.
2017: On April 28, 2017, Acosta was sworn in by Vice President Mike Pence.
2018: In late 2018, as rumors circulated that Acosta was being considered as a possible successor to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the Miami Herald published an investigation detailing Acosta's role in the Epstein case.

What’s on your resume?

Well, I know that giving a sweetheart deal to shield a human trafficker and pedophile from prosecution isn't on my resume.

So now Trump will have another acting head of something...how many are we up to now?

If true, I wonder if it is so he can spend more time with his family and/or coach little league. Or is he going to write a book?

They all seem to write a book. Every reporter, commentator, former White House employee, their cousins brothers and uncles, all seem to write books on the subject of their own political viewpoint. They leave office and within months a book pop up that they've written and they're invited on every network to talk about it. How they manager to crank out book after book so quickly is beyond my comprehension. They must have a team of writers helping them.

You forgot the last line in the resume: resigns under a cloud 12JUL19

So you support giving Epstein a break. No surprise there.

Where the F do you get that from?

Don't make stupid baseless attacks. Epstein and all his pedo cronies need to rot in prison.

Stop making stupid posts....

Wait - what?

Tell me more about these donuts.

Another one bites the dust, hey, hey!

Thanks, Trump haters. You did it again.

Kristjen Nielson brought the total to 15 that had left within the first three years of Trump's administration and I think there's been at least one more since she resigned. Alex Acosta could possibly be #17. That compares with seven such departures in the first three years of the Obama administration and four for George W. Bush.

Some of those 'acting' positions are probably less important than others, some could be filled with a warm body with opposing thumbs. But we don't have ambassadors to countries that we should have and most worrisome is that we don't have an ambassador to the U.N. The absence of an ambassador has implications on the work diplomats do and could send a message that the United States is not fully engaged. That should be disturbing to everyone. In the private sector, employee retention is important for many reasons. To have this much turnover is not normal. I always assumed it's intentional because Trump has more power when there's only 'acting' cabinet and staff members.

Hope this resignation does not stop the digging into WHY he (or people related to him) gave such a nice deal to the billionaire pedophile. You know... in case they got something in return...

Good. That sure was quick.

Trump only hires the best. Or the worst. Neither he nor his supporters see a need to differentiate.

Right. Because the 53 page indictment paperwork wasn't enough.
Let the record show that you are a child rapists apologist.
That is something NOT on my resume.

I hope so too. Corruption needs to be uncovered, and we know a corrupt deal was made, that included name and unnamed co-conspirators getting full immunity - for no reason. I'd like to see that thread pulled to its conclusion.

Another one bites the dust, hey, hey!

Thanks, Trump haters. You did it again.

Yes because Trump haters made Acosta horrible at his job and give a pedophile a walk.
And Trump haters also wrote his equally horrible defense of his actions.
Once again the party of personal responsibility is outsourcing the responsibility to those who are aren't responsible.

Another one bites the dust, hey, hey!

Thanks, Trump haters. You did it again.

"He's done a fantastic job. He's a friend of everybody in the administration" Acosta "did a fantastic job yesterday" in the press conference from two days ago.

"He's a tremendous talent. He's a Hispanic man. He went to Harvard."

twump haters did nothing. This is Donnie Moscow getting tired of winning.

Another one bites the dust, hey, hey!

Thanks, Trump haters. You did it again.

How did Trump haters force him to go up and lie during his press conference?

Well, I know that giving a sweetheart deal to shield a human trafficker and pedophile from prosecution isn't on my resume.

Why do you think the Democrat controlled Manhattan District Attorney's office, via Cyrus Vance, NY DA, attempted to have Eptsteins sex offender status lowered in 2011?

DA who declined to prosecute Weinstein tried to lower Epstein's sex offender status in 2008 | Daily Mail Online

In 2011, when Jeffrey Epstein was ordered to register as a sex offender in New York after entering a guilty plea to two solicitation charges in his Florida plea deal, a prosecutor from Vance's office argued that the convicted pedophile should be deemed a low-risk offender, against the advice of the court-appointed experts.

Assistant DA Jennifer Gaffney urged the court to categorize Epstein and as Level 1 sex-offender, as opposed to the recommended Level 3 status that had been determined based on his criminal actions.

As I just said in another thread: When you continually surround yourself with subhuman gutter scum as trump always has and always will, it means you're gutter scum.

Conclusion: trump is gutter scum.
