Welcome, America, to the new political orthodoxy:

The absence of one of the best women's soccer players in the nation from the national squad that just won the World Cup has prompted questions as to whether she didn't make the team because of her openly professed Christian faith.

Jaelene Hinkle, 26, "has been called the top left defender in the U.S. game," according to The Washington Times. Fox News noted Hinkle "helped her team win the NWSL championship and previously helped it win a title in 2016 when it was known as the Western New York Flash."

But none of that apparently mattered to the women's team. The Irish Times, which called Hinkle "the finest left-back in the NWSL," wrote in June, "Hinkle likely would have been a fish out of water on the uber-woke women's national team, some of whose biggest stars are openly lesbian, raising questions about whether she would have thrown off the squad's chemistry."

In 2017, when the women's team wore special team jerseys celebrating Gay Pride Month for two international matches, Hinkle declined to play. She said on the "700 Club," "I just felt so convicted in my spirit that it wasn't my job to wear this jersey. I gave myself three days to just seek and pray and determine what [God] was asking me to do in this situation."

Soon after the interview, when her North Carolina Courage team played against the Portland Thorns in Portland, Oregon, fans waving rainbow flags booed Hinkle. The Washington Times noted, "Hinkle has not played for the national team since. After she was left off the World Cup roster, coach Jill Ellis told reporters that the decision was 'solely based on soccer,' an explanation greeted with widespread skepticism." The Times added, Ellis, who is married to a woman, did call up Hinkle last year for the Tournament of Nations but then cut her and one other player a few days later, fueling speculation that she was invited only to stave off a religious freedom lawsuit.

Welcome, America, to the new political orthodoxy:

A team needs to be united. With national teams good players who rock the boat sometimes find themselves outside of the national team because they can't work with others. If you have a player who is unable to deal with the gay players, then it's better they're left out. I mean, the US won the competition, so the decision is justified.

The article doesn't say this Hinkle person couldn't work with the gay players.

She simply didn't say **** TRUMP enough to be a part of this team.

But apparently the bigoted lesbian coach couldn't work with Hinkle and disingenuously tiptoed around federal civil rights law.

Let's think what could have caused this. Religious person doesn't get in the team which has some gay players... perhaps she didn't like the food.

Soccer player says she turned down USWNT call-up because she didn't want to play in a LGBTQ jersey | Daily Mail Online

"'I was being obedient': Religious soccer player Jaelene Hinkle says she turned down national team call-up because she didn't want to play in a LGBTQ 'Pride Month' jersey"

Oh, looky, she turned down the chance to play for her country because the team had a "pride month" jersey.

You think she likes gay people now?

Now, imagine you're a gay and then this person comes along with their nutty religious views. You aren't going to take too kindly to it. And imagine you're the best player on the team and gay, who are you going to drop? The one religious nut, or your best player?

But apparently the bigoted lesbian coach couldn't work with Hinkle and disingenuously tiptoed around federal civil rights law.

So, the "lesbian coach" is bigoted because she won't call someone up who will disrupt the team and who has known bigoted views?

It also doesnt say she was the best fit for this team

There are a lot of Christians in mens' professional sports. Quite a few Latin Catholic players in professional baseball, for example. Is it safe to say you would support kicking gays off of professional men's teams if they don't possess the right chemistry?

Welcome, America, to the new political orthodoxy:

Hard to argue about the team choices since they won the cup. I doubt she is better than Dunn who was outstanding. Team chemistry is important. Tough call. She plays professionally so its not like she is discriminated against.

What should be understood is that there is a propaganda movement to get right-wing Christians to think there is a liberal persecution they're victims of, in order to keep them loyally voting Republican, so Republicans can get power.

And so ANY incident where ANY lie can be told about persecution of Christians can be used to feed this propaganda.

Every case of any time a sports team (or any group) member who is Christian isn't rewarded, for whatever reason, no matter how justified, it can be 'spun' as persecution and used for propaganda.

So whether it's hiding that the person wasn't as good a player, or that their bigotry was a problem, or another legitimate issue, it becomes 'Christians persecuted' propaganda. And the horror if, very rarely, an actual case IS found of actual discrimination - it can by hyped to look like it happens millions of times.

Basically, every time there's a Christian involved, they HAVE to be given the reward or position, to avoid the incident being able to be used as propaganda to falsely claim persecution.

Yes. That is safe to say

No, she's just bigoted. You know, it wasn't too many years ago "science" said this coach had a mental disorder and she would have been committed to a mental hospital to receive treatment, like electroshock therapy. No one would have been called a bigot for believing she was a loon. Unfortunately for her, believing due to a sincerely held religious belief that her behavior is immoral is still protected under federal law, although I'm sure leftist social justice types would like to gut federal civil rights law as it pertains to religion if they ever get the chance.

"Jaelene Hinkle, 26, "has been called the top left defender in the U.S. game," according to The Washington Times."

Seriously? The Moonie Times?

Let's ask who is being discriminated against:

How many Republicans would like to see this coach being removed because she is a lesbian?

The Washington Times is crap but she is a good player. Top 3 in the NWSL but not better than Dunn.

Yes. That is safe to say

Really? You realize that claiming you would support kicking gays off of professional men's teams unless they mesh with the teams' chemistry is viewed in some quarters as bigotry, right?

This seems to be a case of who is the worst bigot. Hint: everyone.

Right, she's bigoted. Hating gay people because some fantasy story kind of says so isn't bigoted, but stopping someone coming in who's going to cause problems within a team, that's bigoted.

So, you're suggesting that because people were bigoted in the past, that they're not bigots for believing the same nonsense now?

"Jaelene Hinkle, 26, "has been called the top left defender in the U.S. game," according to The Washington Times."

Yeah, I'll take the Moonies over CNN any day. Do you seriously think CNN would ever run a story about a lesbian coach kicking a Christian off of a national women's team for her religious views? You might as well believe in the Easter Bunny.

When are mainstream Christians gonna get tired of bigotry in their name? The problem was not "Christian views". No one hated Jesus. There was no war on Christmas. Easter went swimmingly.

The problem is bigotry.

I'm tired of it being hung on Christians. I know plenty of Christians that are not homophobes. At some point, hopefully not many years, Christians in general will say no more hiding bigotry behind us.

So, you're suggesting that because people were bigoted in the past, that they're not bigots for believing the same nonsense now?

That's part of a loaded question, and your opinion. I never said or implied any such thing. If science said homosexuality was a mental disorder, why would anyone be a bigot for thinking the gay person should get treatment? That makes no sense. Likewise, if their religion tells them homosexuality is immoral, why does that make them bigots? Connect the dots for me, please.

The Washington Times is crap but she is a good player. Top 3 in the NWSL but not better than Dunn.

Well, I find it interesting that before the "700 Club" interview she was on the team, but after the interview she never played for the national team again. Do you dispute that? Can you offer up any "Fake News" source that has an alternate reality?

Welcome, America, to the new political orthodoxy:

Perhaps she was trying to lure the other players in Christianity, or to have similar moral beliefs as her? She is someone who believes in a supernatural being who is on an equal footing with Santa Claus when it comes to actual evidence: Old stories.

So if you were putting together a National Team, would you want someone on the team who openly professes to believe in Santa Claus, and was trying to get other players to believe as well?

As I mentioned in my previous post to you, there is no more evidence for Yahweh than there is for Santa Claus. If Santa Claus said to hate people with blue eyes, would you want a Santa Claus believer on a team with a number of people with blue eyes? Of course not.

When it comes time to make the final cuts, dropping closely matched players, you're going to be looking to get rid of anyone who might cause dissension on the team.
