U.S. Women's Soccer Team Accused Of Snubbing Star Player For Christian Views

A broken record of pull it from your arse characterizations expressing your loathing of a Christian. Your not interested in anything else...so the dialog is concluded.

Christian's were welcome on the team. Put on the Jersey and take take field.

Or not. Lol

Well, that answer is easy for Christians. A man and a woman, people who can propagate the species. And before you ask, yes, straight men and women and Christians have contributed to the wrecking of marriage, too. However, at least they all held to a common definition. BTW, the reason the government bestowed a benefit to marriage was to encourage it because it was generally recognized as the backbone of not only furthering the species but of giving order to families and, thus, to society. Some people might not like this position but it was the position held by Western civilization for centuries. For someone to now claim that this was wrong or somehow bigoted, is simply an unfounded claim based on personal wants and desires.

Be careful....you seem to forget that the definition of an acceptable marriage has had to change a few times since its inception. Case in point, by definition that you just gave wasnt applicable in this country 60 years ago, or have you forgotten that the government deemed it illegal for a man and a woman who could further the species to marry if they were of different races.

The very nature of marriage could be turned bigoted very easily when put into that perspective.

If so, then there are other routes to trying to make accommodation - e.g. applying to the league for an exception. Moreover, we have no idea what the league would think of a jersey that, except for gay pride rainbow coloration inside the numbers, would react to an otherwise identical jersey.

that's not reasonable accommodation.

Sorry, but being a bigoted clown excludes you from alot. Since christianity embraces this sort of behavior and this idiot player refused to play in a pride Jersey, she can go **** herself.

You dont get to bitch about being excluded when you yourself embrace discrimination.

Quitting is not is not a violation of an employment contract, unless such contract has obligatory clauses. And given the seeming pay structure on a game to game (or tournament to tournament) basis there is not even an implied breach. And finally, the team itself didn't have a problem with it.

I realize there is a great deal of triggered animosity and venom when a Christian is involved, but one needn't embellish what is an accepted and usual practice: you can quit a job without penalty whenever you like.

Well..it certainly breaks the contract doesn't it? Come now.. you have a contract to work and you refuse to come to work... and you are telling me its not obligatory to go to work?

MAn... where were you when I was working for other people... awesome.. sign a work contract.. then stay home because going to work is not part of the contract..

Dude the only animosity and venom here is when Christians treat other people terribly.. and act like petulant children doing it.. and then don't want to be held accountable for their actions.

Yes.. you quit a job without a penalty when you like. And don't expect a call back when you do. Its that simple. Bunch of whining "Christians"...and I use that in quotes because her actions were anything but Christ like.

that's not reasonable accommodation.

LOL...you're now claiming that a request constitutes "undue hardship"? If you can feel embarrassment for making an idiotic comment, now is a good time.

I just found the video of Jaelene on the 700 club referred to in the thread. I realize now that she was the best player on at that position, according to the US teams coach. First let me say if I would've watched the appearance on the 700 club in the first place, I would have come to a completely different conclusion. To Eco-Farm, and Jaeger19, and anybody else who said it was her choice not to play, you were right, I was wrong. My bad. Actually she was called up to the team but turned it down for religious reasons, with the full support of her team. She is presently playing on a pro team, and isn't bitter at all. The video explains her reasons clearly. She is a role model as well as an inspiration to all Christians. Here's the video for anybody who cares to watch it. :peace https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...=KxbIDHTjW9I&usg=AOvVaw30KyiUDUxmwQ_3tSzXoys-

Her behavior is anything but an inspiration to real Christians.

Maybe if Christian's would stop being discriminatory based off a ****ing fairy tale novel then they wouldn't be excluded from **** like this.

I'm so ****ing sick of Christians and their victimology. Stop hating and discriminating and no one will exclude you. Simple.

Cool... so if a man or a woman cannot propagate.. aren't then allowed to be married.. or their marriage should end the moment that they cannot propagate the species.

Interesting.. you realize that would likely include you and your wife at some point.

You need to let your wife know so she can make plans when your marriage ends when you or she can't propogate.

I disagree. The only real Christian died on the cross. As it stands I think the majority of Christians are against gay people and gay marriage. The bible tells Christians not to be yoked with the burden of unbelievers. She is a Christian. Your comment seeks to simply paint her as not a Christian in an attempt to insinuate real Christians do not follow the bible and its hideous teachings.

You simply don't know what you're talking about. Yes, people have a right to be and do what they want and Christians have a right to disagree with it because it is in conflict with scripture. They also have a right not to be forced to go out and celebrate it. This really shouldn't be difficult to grasp. Your blather about "hatred and bigotry" is just a diversion to make people of faith have to defend themselves rather than stick to the point at issue. Your claim that Hinkle was engaging in "hate and bigotry" is so much nonsense. She never insisted on anything and never suggested that any player not be able to play. She simply removed herself.

The people on the receiving end of hate and bigotry seem to be Christians who stand up for what their faith teaches them. Oh and nothing regarding the moral teachings of the OT was made null by Jesus. The 10 Commandments didn't suddenly disappear, for example. He fulfilled the OT; he didn't abolish it. What the NT means that all things are new is that, rather than be saved by sacrificing animals repeatedly, as the Jews of the OT did, man was now saved by one all consuming act of God, the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. It also was now open to every human, not just the Jews.

Nah.. I know exactly what I am talking about.

Sure. we in this country have the right to be a holes...These so called Christians certainly have the right to be a holes.

Just stop whining when you refuse to work and you don't get a call back.

No.. the people that are on the receiving end of hate and bigotry are NOT Christians who "stand up for what their faith teaches them". They are using their faith erroneously as an excuse to treat people badly..

And yes.. Jesus nullified much of the old testament. In fact.. because humans had screwed up so much of the previous laws.. he simplified the commandments into one great commandment . Which is why he stood before the people trying to stone the adulteress and told them to stop and examine their own sin.

But.. nope.. too many Christians.. simply like the hatred, xenophobia.."moral superiority"... etc... and cannot abide by what Jesus actually SAID and DID.

Its "but but but but".... to justify their hatred and discrimination.

A real Christian.. would.. by definition be following the WORDS AND DEEDS OF CHRIST. Christs vision of the world and treating other people is pretty simple.. love thy neighbor as you would love yourself. In other words.. treat people decently. There is multiple times where Jesus departs from the old testament and its teachings..

and the truth is.. most Christians do so.. they do exactly that to the best of their ability. Probably most if not all of the girls soccer team probably identifies themselves as Christians.

Most of their fans do as well. Its unfortunate.. that there are a few sects out there.. very very vocal sects of "Christians"...that wear their religious beliefs on their sleeve.. instead of in their hearts as they should. Who instead of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ... feel the need to use their faith like its their favorite football franchise and ignore the true teachings of Jesus. .

When you have nothing to say, you are reduced to this sort of nonsense. Alas...

Baloney x 2. Show me how Hinkle "treated people badly". Go ahead. Jesus said that He had come not to abolish (the OT) but to fulfill. (Matthew 5:17) Secondly, yes, He told them to examine their own sin and he also told the adulteress to "go and sin no more". He wasn't defending her sin anymore than that of the would-be stoners. Lastly, there are two commandments Jesus proclaimed, to love God with all your heart and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:36-40)

A request that the entire team.. who has to be in the same uniform (except the goalie).. has to conform to what this one player wants.

Or a request from the league to change the rules of soccer.. and then have to come up with a whole host of guidelines for this exception (how much of a deviation from other players is acceptable etc) ?

The only one that should be embarrassed is you.

Explain how Hinkle refusing to play with her teammates constitutes loving your neighbor as you love yourself. She is promoting the same attitude toward gay people from discrimination to arrest to being beaten for being gay. So you explain how that's loving ones neighbor.

Go.

I think Jesus would say that by supporting the right for gay people to be gay and be free from discrimination, hatred, getting arrested. beaten up or worse... that's would be loving their neighbor.

Just like when Jesus stepped up and spoke out against the stoning of the adulterer.

That's exactly what wearing the rainbow would symbolize.

Try as you might to smoke screen with hysterical faux concerns, the request to the league would have been simple: to make an exemption for her to wear an identical jersey absent rainbow filler between the numbers for those two games.

No need to "change the rules" or "making the whole team conform" to anything. It's an exception request to a controlling body, nothing more. A request is NOT undue hardship on the team, and only a hysteric or worse would think so.

So yes, your embarrassment is way overdue.

You think Jesus stepping up for the adulterer means He was OK with people engaging in adultery. Christian love would be turning people away from their sin, not facilitating it. Hinkle did nothing but absent herself from something she found contrary to her beliefs. If you want to call that hatred or bigotry, feel free.

Nah.. look.. its not that simple.. because then the league makes an exception.. then they have to define that exception for everyone else that "I don't want that sponsor on my jersey.. etc".

AND quite frankly.. as stated.. the wearing of the jersey as a TEAM.. is part of the marketing. .. so yes.. its an undue hardship.

Nope sir.. you are the one embarrassing yourself.. not me.

Nope.. in no way do a I think that. Nor do I think that wearing a rainbow in support of my fellow humans makes me gay.. nor does it make me think that being gay is say what I want my children to do.

What wearing a rainbow.. when you are straight signifies.. is that I see value in folks that are gay.. and that they should not be treated differently because they are gay.. they should not be ostracized, or arrested.. or discriminated against..

As Christians.. we should stand up and protect those that are being treated poorly... just as Jesus stood up and protected the woman accused of adultery.

And by the way.. adultery is way way way way worse than being gay. Because being gay between two consenting adults is not hurting anyone else.

Adultery hurts the non cheating spouse. And is much worse of a sin.

Hinkle refused to do what Christ would have done.. and its because she isn't brave enough to stand up to the bigoted beliefs of some of her church members.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. It is still not undue hardship to ask the league.

Explain how one out of an a entire squad is an undo hardship on the team?

Sure it is.

First and foremost.. the marketing is for the whole TEAM.. to wear the Jersey. When part of the job is marketing, promotion.. its not a reasonable accommodation to have to provide different jerseys to those that don't want to participate in the marketing. It would be the same as having a bartender that decided to become muslim and not serve beer.

so right there? Done.

Secondly.. the nature of the sport is that the team must wear identical jerseys.. Going to the league to request an exception? That then requires the league.. to have to go through a whole process to come up with some exemption process.. probable which has to be signed on to by the rest of the league members.. and so on.

because the league certainly cannot simply order an exemption without any guidelines or policy change. Once the do an exemption it becomes a precedent for future exemptions. So.. this would require a whole rule change... and for what? "I don't want to wear a rainbow on my jersey".

sorry.. its just not a reasonable accommodation on the part of the league and certainly not on the part of the team

Everyone should be treated equally under the law and the Constitution no matter who or what they are. However, that is different from having to go out and wear "Pride" on your shirt and the rainbow colors. That is all Hinkle refused to do.

Also, what Jesus would have done is tell the gay members to "go and sin no more". There is also no hierarchy of sins in God's eyes. Scripture says that merely calling your brother a fool is worthy of Hell. The wages of sin is death and that means ANY sin.
