Yeah, absolutely loved it when it first came out; well worth the rewatch.

I've never seen him before. I like him much more than Jordan Peterson. lol

He's very passionate, isn't he? The cameraman had to wipe the spit off his lens.

Love Jonathan Pie, but he's not entirely right here. He's probably like...90% right, but he overstates "the left"s influence, because in America, there is virtually no representation of the left. CNN and MSNBC and whoever else weren't pushing Bernie Sanders. They were pushing Hillary. Just like they're pushing anyone but Bernie now. And we'll be enjoying 4 more years of Trump at this rate.

I listened to the video. I am not really sure why this is good. He is saying we have to stop condemning Trump supporters, and engage them in more debate- as if these are rational people, open to actual facts and reasoning. LOL, he doesn’t know these people.

How do you debate someone who rejects the unanimous consensus of every single scientific organization on the entire planet on climate change, and instead believes a Manhattan Real estate huckster who tells them it’s just a Chinese hoax?

How do you engage someone who condemns Hillary for supporting Wall Street and then condemns Bernie for wanting communism? They were not going to vote for Bernie. Sorry.

How do you debate someone who thinks Trump has a “beautiful healthcare plan” that he is going to replace the ACA with, and doesn’t care what it is?

How do you engage with people who support a candidate who has just told them he will pay their legal fees if they rough up their opponents?

How do you rationally argue with people who think US foreign policy in the Middle East should just be based on the ultimate agenda of hastening the return of Jesus Christ and the end days?

This guy is just ranting. He thinks the way to win over Trump supporters is with more rational argument and more facts. LOL. Sorry dude you’re so frustrated, but you are way underestimating the level of deplorability of this crowd. They really are that deplorable, and sometimes it’s OK to just call a spade a spade.

No doubt Trump has a solid core of unswayable fanatics that are beyond reach, but there's many more who can be persuaded and convinced, which is his point; rather than writing off those on the fence or those who are leaning or superficially in the Trump camp, persuasion and providing alternatives that address concerns (see good, popular policies) can work. There's a reason Trump swept the so-called Blue Wall that was the Rust Belt: because while Hillary was busily going on about 'Orange Man Bad' and deplorables, he was addressing the concerns and apprehensions of those people, even if he didn't intend to ultimately do much if anything about them.

People ostensibly on the left who would dismiss this as a baseless rant, and/or who still can't or won't recognize the most salient reasons for Hillary's loss, are precisely who this video is about.

I thought he was pretty clear on this: he's referring to what is colloquially known as the 'American left', but which is, more often than not in actuality, corporate 'centrism'/neoliberalism ala Clinton.

But yeah, I agree, the actual left has very little power, and certainly had just about none until Sanders came along.

This guy is full of it.

Sanders would have not won. Sanders couldn't get the Black vote in the south. He lost

Now, here is a big reason why Trump won

Why did Trump not give credit to his Fakenews# media?(LOL)

When we start a conversation patronizing, belittling and insulting people, we can't really call it a debate.
Imagine a hick redneck trying to engage someone who's been raised to think that all rednecks are racist? How would that go?
Both sides need to have an open mind to have, at least, the resemblance of a productive conversation. No?
May be that is why Trump was elected. Real or show, he engaged and listened to other the left's pet projects.

Liberals elected Donald Trump, NOT the left.

Liberals do not REMOTELY = The left

But great video except for that.

:)

from the rant

"Not everyone who voted for Trump is a racist or a sexist."

Yes. But a whole hell of a lot of them were and are and they are beynd reach as they wanted and still want to support a racist and a sexist.

Yes, Clinton was a flawed candidate and the party would have better with Sanders. But she was still a hell of a lot better than the mentally ill racist that the Republicans put forth.

Isn't that what the right has been saying everyone has a "right" to do, no? If so, then maybe the right should buck up and learn to deal with it. They've advocated for this, now all of a sudden, they don't like it? Cry me a river, build me a bridge, get over it, enjoy the world's smallest violin while you enjoy some cheese with the wine.

Imagine a hick redneck trying to engage someone who's been raised to think that all rednecks are racist? How would that go?

Imagine a black kid in a hoodie trying to engage someone who's been raised to think all blacks are criminals, blakcs have a low IQ, are more dispositioned toward criminal behavior? How would that go? Oh, we see that every day, and the right tells those folks to buck up because free speech.

Both sides need to have an open mind to have, at least, the resemblance of a productive conversation. No?

I disagree. This wretched mischief has to stop on ONE SIDE FIRST, and that's the right. The right has been waging political warfare and the left is just coming around to it. The left has taken out its knives now, in response to a decade of right wing extremity that harkens back to a pre-segregation America. I have ZERO sympathy for them.

May be that is why Trump was elected. Real or show, he engaged and listened to other the left's pet projects.

If you don't know why Trump was elected yet, you're not paying attention.

Agree with all the above.

What the actual left really needs to do is make a better case when approaching centrists and the typical "Dems". you're not going to change any of the current politicians minds, because it's not their minds that's the problem, it's their donors. but, you can get to the voters, swing more of them further left, and keep them from voting for bad Republican-lite candidates like Biden. maybe.

What the left needs to do is begin waging slash and burn warfare against the right. No quarter, no more games. The yellow journalism, the constant lies, the insidious misrepresentations of the right have got to be fought with fire.

I am so ****ing sick of spineless democrats.

The right wing is a vapid batch of theocratic, plutocratic authoritarians. They must bend the knee before the partisan warfare stops.

I think what he was saying is, it wasn't just republicans who put Trump in office. If I remember correctly, Trump took a few blue states as well. How do you win 30 states without some Democrat or Independent voters? I could take your kind of list and make the same argument but where does that leave everyone?

If you are of the notion that 63 million people are (X) just because they like a candidate you don't support, the problem may not be with the 63 million people.

There in lies the problem with our politics today. Trump supporters think those who oppose him, the anti Trumpers are irrational as all get out. The Democrats, anti Trumpers think Trump and his supporters are irrational. Result, stalemate. The growth of partisanship, polarization, division to the max. There's no middle ground between these two sides. Just hate for each other.

It seems that the now unswayable right was the same that sat seething and blocking the previous administration for years - and they are loud and proud, large and in charge, WINNING. This is a war of parties y'all - the citizens and the function of the government are secondary.

You must be under the impression that only Republicans voted for Trump. My response would be, how do you win 30 states and turn blue states red without Democrat and Independent voters?

That's all crap. The only reason Trump is in the White House is Russian propaganda and racism.

And sexism and misogyny.

And generally uneducated buffoons.

And Jesus.

And because he hates gays.

And brown baby killing racism.

And because America sucks and needs to be fundamentally transformed into Sweden.

So triggered. I wonder how upset you were at the disrespect the tea party showed Obama.

Hmm, why would the Tea Party have issues with Obama?
