Doesn’t matter who built the cages. But if asylum seekers are to find a fair hearing for their claims, if the homeless get services they may need, if a government will attempt to treat addiction wisely, if voting rights rights are enforced vigorously, odds are that liberals, with conservative help at times, will be leading the charge. Conservatives will be useful brakes at times, but the history of progress of the last century came from liberal legislation, sometimes supported by the right but more often opposed. Look at the ACA, for example. Conservatives opposed it, now they want to repeal but replace it. Older history is Reagan’s opposition to Medicare, before that it was civil rights, workers rights, etc. The vanguard is liberal. Conservatives eventually come along for the ride and help improve things.
