"Elections Matter Less, Liberals Are Winning The Culture Wars"

Mark Steyn said that.

Agree or disagree?

You mean ditching sky daddy myths, accepting gay people, respecting women and treating Blacks, Muslims, Mexicans as equals? Yeah, I can see why Right Wingers like Steyn would hate seeing that.

I think you are hearing things. My guess is that the changes he is talking about would potentially bring a higher percent of Asians. People trained in STEM who will quickly help our economy.

Bingo.

Asians and Indians (from India).

But the Trump to illiberal translator is set to turn anything he says into a Hitler war rally speech, so whatcha gonna do?

I look forward to the day when right wingers understand that a private company deciding to not sell certain books is an exercise of their 1st Amendment rights, and not an infringement of it

But I'm not going to hold my breath because right wingers will take a very long time to get over their victim complex

A very disturbing exercise of their rights, not unlike neo-Nazi rallies.

Except much more disturbing/chilling.

Could you provide just a tad more context? Trying to discuss a paraphrase sentence fragment is a waste.

No, it's an exercise in censorship. If Amazon has the book market cornered and decide not to sell books they disagree with politically, then they effectively decide what messages and ideas people can be exposed to. Having the market share and power they possess, it exercises a chilling influence on the free spread of all points of view.

Well, it's both. (Their right and chilling censorship.)

Amazon has every right to do it, but like neo-Nazis, would be better advised to get in touch with their better angels.

As I see your point, I would have to disagree. I see the party in great decline. CNN has tanked from the number 1 rated cable news network to number 22 which is lower than Nickelodeon over fake news. The DNC supporters are leaving as they are currently 6 million in debt with over 10 million excused by one provider alone (Duke Energy)

Current rulings in the courts and the SCOTUS have become huge backlashes like our baker guy who decided not to bake a gay cake or Oberlin College being hit with a 30 million dollar libel case ruling for their Liberal treatment of a local business.

Now you are seeing leaders of their own party in debates ALL agreeing to decriminalize Illegal Aliens and providing them free medical at the expense of taxpayers. The exposure of the fraud of accusing the president of being an agent of Russia and coming to a theater near you, the declassifying of the FISA warrants.

Everyone was able to see how they lost in the SCOTUS while actually trying to convince the country that Kavanaugh was an alcoholic high school rape train conductor, the Liberal children beating on the doors of the SCOTUS during the swearing in, and this new idea (We believe survivors).

The more they lose, the farther left they go. My opinion is they have no chance in 2020 and the continued exposure is turning the stomachs of people in their own party.

How will this end? Yet to be determined but I don't see them gandering a lot of support in the near future.

Did you figure out as I have that if you add both CNN and MSNBC viewers , it beats Fox News? I have

Lets say that true? Its only 4 more years of Trump

I know I'm disturbed when I can't find gay porn next to the bibles and rapture novels in Christian book stores.

I believe you!

And I didn't know Amazon was a Christian bookseller...

They're not. They're way less restrictive with the books they sell than Christian book stores. Plenty of gay porn on Amazon. If Amazon's censorship disturbs you though, those Christian book sellers must give you fits of rage.

When Trump says he wants more legal immigration, that's a dog whistle for his racist white base, it means "more white people, less brown people", however, that won't solve the labor shortage in agriculture.

Just to establish that were are all on the same page, in regards to our collective terminology when we debate immigration, I'm sure we can all agree with the following visual display.......

Doesn’t matter who built the cages. But if asylum seekers are to find a fair hearing for their claims, if the homeless get services they may need, if a government will attempt to treat addiction wisely, if voting rights rights are enforced vigorously, odds are that liberals, with conservative help at times, will be leading the charge. Conservatives will be useful brakes at times, but the history of progress of the last century came from liberal legislation, sometimes supported by the right but more often opposed. Look at the ACA, for example. Conservatives opposed it, now they want to repeal but replace it. Older history is Reagan’s opposition to Medicare, before that it was civil rights, workers rights, etc. The vanguard is liberal. Conservatives eventually come along for the ride and help improve things.

That's a fairly reasonable assessment. What I find too often, though, is that liberals are forever on the lookout for the latest cause and don't feel their lives have any meaning unless they are involved in some sort of struggle. That can lead to coercing other groups who are deemed to be not sufficiently committed to the program. There are also, as we know, always differences of opinion as to what our priorities should be.

Don’t have to tell me about the first part, looking for causes, but I have to plead guilty to the second. My professional live involved 40+ years of work in areas that might make some conservatives’ blood curdle. That said, it was a great fun ride, interesting and rewarding, if not materially, in a way spiritually, and in the people I met, from ex-Soviet prisoners to ex-death squad participants. I tried to keep in mind that my meanderings through the non-profit, cause-driven world was only made possible by the productive work of others.

Sure they are. You guys get one little election bump and you think you're Masters of the Universe. Meanwhile McConnell is jamming through dozens of judicial appointments, the economic is booming, and you have a line up of Presidential candidates that looks the losers on the Gong Show.

Mark Steyn said that.

Agree or disagree?

Where and when did he say that? Is there a source for this thread? Sometimes context without the filter of an "Other" can be enlightening.

You mean ditching sky daddy myths, accepting gay people, respecting women and treating Blacks, Muslims, Mexicans as equals? Yeah, I can see why Right Wingers like Steyn would hate seeing that.

Nineteen Kids and Counting (The Duggars) is off the air, Honey Boo Boo is gone, the guys who rivaled The Smith Brothers for best coughing beards (Duck Dynasty) aren't around anymore, the NRA is going broke and collapsing, fundamentalists are clinging to the last shreds of credibility as Trump rides roughshod over every one of Christianity's basic tenets...
Gay marriage is now legal in all fifty states and pot will soon be legal in at least 40 of them, at which point the federal government may finally just GIVE UP with their nonsensical Harry Anslinger crusade against it.

Sounds like it's all going according to plan!

But the real prize is in 2020. Trump must be defeated, glaringly so in a landslide, and so must the Republican Senate majority and we must increase our House numbers.
That's the real prize, so keep your eye on it.

Remember, what we must do is a helluva lot easier than taking over airports in 1775.
Those rampart rammers had it pretty tough, so if they can prevent a single fighter jet from taking off in 1775, we can do this.

No, more like there are more single people now than married(wink)

More like there's too high of legal immigration

More like we keep throwing more and more money in vain at our 17th in the world education(wink)

Those kinds of things(wink)

"You guys"? That's almost like "You people"(LOL) What the heck are you talking about(Rolling eyes)

Meanwhile McConnell is jamming through dozens of judicial appointments,

Do you think a Democrat will never hold the Prez again or something? Then, it will just be their turn(Rolling eyes)

the economic is booming,

The economy was coming back on it's own... How do you like being "Taxed" and pay for the other 44% of Americans that pay NO fed/state income tax in this great economy? You're a good boy(LOL)

and you have a line up of Presidential candidates that looks the losers on the Gong Show

Again, you're just drawing at empty straws. They're NOT my "Line up"

Geeezzz....

Marriage sucks for most people

There wasn’t an illegals problem until Trump created one

Our schools are fine in Blue States. Look it up.

Well, you missed the point that in 2014, there became more single people than married for the first time since records were kept?

There wasn’t an illegals problem until Trump created one

Wrong!

It's been a problem at least going all the way back till the 1980's. 1986 AMNESTY and Calif Prop 187(Hello)

That would be, in essence, the reasoning behind the merit based immigration system, would it not?
Grant immigration to people who have needed skills and abilities to contribute to the nation.

Don't really care from where they come from, care more about the skills abilities they bring with them.

Trump created the current crisis. Until 2017, illegal stream was a trickle.

What’s wrong with being single? Women work now. Men frequently don’t. I wouldn’t marry one.
