OK so people were bitching that he was going to strike Iran and now they will bitch because he did not!

I won't...there is a very good chance that if we used aircraft, we would have had our heads handed to us and if we started a war with Iran we would have eventually had to used manned aircraft. See comment regarding "heads handed to us".

Nope. I'll give the President props for showing restraint. Despite the warhawks he's surrounded himself with he managed to bumble his way into doing the right thing. Good job.

So there you have it. The Prez didn’t feel killing 150 people was a fair trade for an unmanned drone.

He did the right thing.

But he should have known that he was going to be killing 150 people BEFORE HE ORDERED THE STRIKE!

I know that you will twist this and not care and pretend like I'm making a big deal out of nothing, but the job of the president in it's most basic essence is to get all the available information from the best experts and make educated and informed decisions on what is best for the country. And he just admitted that he ordered a strike on a foreign nation without any idea of how many casualties there would be.

It's amazing that he would order a strike without that information.

And it's even more amazing that his officials wouldn't give him that information before he made the order.

Looks like the left is wrong again. None of their predictions came true.

Then again, maybe this whole thing played out like it has for a reason. Time will tell.

Should the president know the estimated number of casualties before he orders a military strike?

My position is yes.

What's yours?

Will Iran be so bold the next time they're provocative? Well, yeah, probably. Could the US get a UN resolution against Iran? Hell, nah. What would you do?

Considering Trumps lack of truth in general, I suspect that it is more like the generals refused to do it.

No twisting necessary. You aren’t the one in the briefings, do you don’t know guano.

I’m sure something will happen that is a lot less newsworthy.

Trump doing his usual shtick ... coming to the supposed "rescue" due to problems he initiated in the first place (unilaterally terminating the JCPOA agreement / initiating crippling sanctions).

OK so people were bitching that he was going to strike Iran and now they will bitch because he did not!

Not at all I’m glad he called it off and give him kudos for that. Now perhaps you’ll speak against all those trump supporters that said we needed to strike Iran.

I'm only commenting on the statements that Donald Trump just tweeted out. I made no claims about what is being said in briefings. Trump just tweeted that he ordered a military strike while not knowing how many casualties would take place.

Do you think the president should know the number of expected casualties of a military strike before ordering a military strike?

Does it matter? The strike never happened.

The world is an imperfect place. Crap happens. Especially in military matters.

Your position is unrealistic or worded poorly. He gets that information after his generals give it to him. They cant give him that information before they know what he wants to do.

What seems like s typical scenerio to me is this;

He makes the order
They then calculate what they predict the results will be
Report that to him
He makes final call to execute

All these leftist experts, wrong again. lol

I'm afraid he looked at the calendar, and realized the war might be over before Nov 2020.

Creates crisis, orders military action without bothering to find out about potential casualties, gets talked out of military action by aide who did bother to find out, claims credit for averting crisis, and....

....they applaud on command. There you have it. Yes, there you do have it.

Wow. So scared to answer a very simple question.

You can't be serious. He said he "called it off" meaning he had already ordered it. Planes were in the air, ships moved in to place. All before he thought to ask, and all before his officials told him how many expected casualties will be the result.

My position, that a president should know the number of expected casualties before ordering a military strike is "unrealistic"? Jesus ****ing Christ.

Asked and answered. Deal with it.
