For the first time in a decade Congress will hold a hearing Wednesday on the subject of reparations for the descendants of slaves in the United States, a topic that has gained traction in the run-up to the 2020 elections.The hearing is set for June 19, also known as "Juneteenth," the day when in 1865 former enslaved people in Texas first learned that they had been emancipated two years earlier.
The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties is holding the hearing on H.R. 40, which calls for a commission to "study and develop reparation proposals for African-Americans," including a formal apology by the U.S. government "for the perpetration of gross human rights violations and crimes against humanity on African slaves and their descendants."

More reparations are needed? We already have special treatment for blacks with college entrances. Special treatment for blacks with the definition of hate crimes.

You know, if blacks were more successful, reparations wouldn't be needed.
Who's fault is that? Oh no, can't be blacks' fault...Blacks do have ultra-lousy leaders. Blacks rarely go to college, for example. Blacks have too much fat in their diet, for example.
 
I can't rightly think of any policy that could possibly do more to destroy (already tenuous) black-white race relations in America.

I furthermore refuse to believe that any reasonable person who considers the implementation hazards, who considers the ethical implications, and who long considers the enmity that reparations will breed--regardless of race--can conclude that this is a good idea.

And you should look into properly defining what a 'hate crime' actually is.

Yep, I could get on board with that. If reparations are to be paid let the party of slavery, KKK, Jim Crow and every vote against equal rights pay the tab. It's their tab to pay in the first place.

This is the only fair way to handle reparations. Apparently some black experts say that most blacks who are the progeny
of slaves can trace their ancestry back to the country of orogin so:

If a black with slave ancestry can trace their roots to:

1) Senegal- the medium annual income is for a Senagalese today is $1134.10, so if an Afro-American with Senegal roots
makes less than $1134.10 give him a stipend to reach that total.

2) Niger- the medium annual income is for Niger today is $395.94, so if an Afro-American with Niger roots
makes less than $395.94 give him a stipend to reach that total.

And so on & so on. This would be the fairest way to offer reparations because if their Afro-Americans ancestors weren't
sent here in ships in the 17th & 18th centuries we should offer them what the living standards currently are in
their respective homelands

Whacker-doodle leftists in congress are calling this a hearing on whether or not to establish a committee to "explore" reparations. Yeah, since when has the left stopped pushing their worthless crap on America anyway? Another totalitarian move at forced compliance. Nice.
 
Let's see. We'll take money from people who were never slaveholders and give it to people who were never slaves. Now, why am I not surprised that this makes sense to liberals?
 
The real question is whether you can stop reparations. If Democrats gain control of the Senate and the Presidency they will pass it. Which liberal is going to come out against it? :lamo

It's going to happen whether you righties like it or not. It's only a matter of time before the demographics are to skewed for even the electoral college to keep you a float. If you think the birth rates between minorities and whites was alarming you should check out the birthrates between republicans and democrats. More and more the younger generation wants nothing to do with you. You're voting block is about as old as your social policies, somewhere in the 70's and 80's. :lamo

Who gets the reparations?
Those descended from black slave owners?
Those descended from the people who captured people in the jungle and sold them to slave traders?
Those descended from people who have no history of slavery in their families?
Those who have made racism an industry by being race baiters, race hawkers, claimed victimization via racism?


And should pay the reparations? Those descended from people who never owned slaves, never profited from slavery, who opposed everything about slavery, and voted for the 13th amendment? Those who have worked tirelessly to break down barriers, obtain justice and opportunity for black Americans?

There is nothing that can justify slavery or can compensate for it. Those done that terrible injustice are long gone and live now only in the history books.

But trying to identify any living person ANYWHERE who was harmed by slavery is as futile and pointless and trying to identify any woman ANYWHERE who was harmed by being denied the vote or cultural expectations of former generations.

Sounds good, but the idea is not to give individual people money but rather - again - give the money to black "organizers" and groups who in turn would decide how to best "invest" it for the "advancement" of black people. In other words: a large-scale Jesse Jackson scheme.

From a CNN puke article:"... While no amount of money can begin to overcome hundreds of years of chattel slavery and its present day vestiges, reparations may assume any number of other forms, according to the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America, such as land, economic and community development, exoneration of political prisoners, scholarships, racially unjust laws and the freeing of political prisoners, even resources for those who want to repatriate to Africa. ..."

Actually, I am all for a one-way ticket for anybody who wants to return permanently to the land of their ancestors.
 
I think the US government should apologize and everyone will be happy since that apparently appeases liberals these days.

As far as actual $$$ for "reparations" TO people who were not alive during slavery FROM people who were not alive during slavery there's this:

1) Dumb political idea and even dumb liberal politicians know this.
2) Thank god for the second amendment. This is why its so defended.
3) Lock and load.
