IMO, this would be much bigger news if not for...well, if not for all the other crazy stuff happening in the Eye of Hurricane Trump.

Trump’s empty Cabinet - POLITICO

A little more than a year ago...the president told reporters, “I’m really at a point where we’re getting very close to having the Cabinet and other things that I want.”

It hasn’t quite worked out that way. Instead, Trump has a Cabinet by default, with many of its members simply being the last person standing after others pulled out of the running, declined the president’s offers or couldn’t get through their confirmation hearings.

...

The president on Tuesday brushed aside those concerns, telling reporters before boarding Air Force One for a flight to Orlando, Fla., where he was set to kick off his 2020 reelection campaign, that he is pleased with the composition of his Cabinet.
:doh

He's pleased with an empty cabinet? Good grief.

I have heard the old adage in a few versions; “A bull in a china cabinet/closet/shop.” When all the dishes are broke up, where does the bull go?

He did say he was going to drain the swamp.

Not really an empty cabinet, just a long trip to get to the cabinet that he has. (There are far better things to be concerned about with Trump these days.)

Well, the right said they wanted the government run like a business. They picked one of the worst businessmen ever to run this ****.

An immigration "crisis" yet he can't even get someone qualified to run the department that handles it. This is why I don't take Trump real serious about his "crisis". If it was, he would have replaced Nielsen much quicker and not had an acting head of DHS for over 2 months.

I see the nits have some new dog whistle to pick at this morning.....

Another stupid post. How about something intelligent about why there are so many acting heads of his cabinet. That is what debate is all about.

Given the OP, my post was Nobel worthy in comparison. I get you might have difficulty grasping that.

I am sure you believe that.

This is an interesting tactic by Trump.

To get someone through the confirmation process, the candidate has to make their lives an open book. Some senators even feel the candidate ought to have some semblance of qualifications and a minimum of skeletons in their closet. In order to find such a candidate, the Trump administration would have to actually vett their nominees. That takes time and can sometimes be a bit messy.

By foregoing the vetting and confirmation process, Trump can simply name an "acting" department head or cabinet member. That way, he can name anyone he wants and the senate can't say anything about it. They can be "acting" as long as Trump wants them there.

For their part, the GOP senate is quite happy with this arrangement. It assures they won't get splashed with the stupid. Granted, it basically makes them irrelevant from a constitutional standpoint, but that is a small price to pay if it means they don't have to go on the record in support of the clown in the White House.

Another stupid post not addressing the topic. Why do you think Trump has not made an attempt to fill the positions?

I have yet to see any relevant post from this poster.

There are, I think, three reasons why Trump "prefers" acting cabinet members. First, he doesn't care about governing. At all. So, what's the point? Second, acting heads are completely dependent on staying in his favor. It's the same way he ran his business which had incredible churn for an organization its size. Finally, the 25th Amendment. It's not at all clear that an acting cabinet member can take action. Pence is in his pocket, but why take the chance? Cabinet members can act independently, and he doesn't want that, obviously.

Especially over at the DHS where there is an actual crisis worthy of a national emergency happening at this very second.

Perhaps that crisis isn't such a crisis after all?

Another stupid post? My aren't you the snarky drama queen.

I don't know the answer to your question.

I know the Congress contains members of a party that has gone off the rails to stop everything the President is attempting. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

When the time comes, my hope is the favor is returned 1000 fold.

Name calling; a typical response from a Trump supporter. Mitch McConnell has stopped just about everything that has passed Congress. Perhaps that has something to do with it also.

Would you recognize a relevant post from anyone who isn't a member of your clan? That's the relevant question.

I rest my case.

Ok. But you should have done so long before now. Not having one makes resting it rather irrelevant.

I should take note, you are clearly the expert on irrelevance. 27, 595 irrelevant posts and counting...

LOL

Oh come now. I'm sure there had to have been one or two in all those posts.

I guess this makes it 27,596, in your mind.
