AO-C compares concentration camps in the Holocaust with migrant detention centers

Just as couple of more points: first, the OP was based on a lie, and that lie has been perpetuated by numerous posters here. AOC never mentioned the holocaust or death camps. Her detractors did to create a controversy that wasn't. It's a recurring pattern. Second, there is a methodology to doing this. By repeatedly minimizing the atrocities perpetrated by this administration, it is intended to make them more acceptable. The point of bringing Hitler, the holocaust, etc., into every conversation is to excuse this behavior as being "less bad than Hitler". Think about that. Is it really appropriate to use Hitler as your comparator for judging behavior? Shouldn't we pick someone noble and try to be as good as them, rather than someone bad and try not to sink to that level? "Well, Trump's not as bad as Hitler". How inspiring.

What's sad is her voter base is even more ignorant than she is.That's scary.

What's even more sad is the Trump voter base has lost all of its humanity. It does not matter what you call the camps, the United States should not be holding children in such deplorable conditions.

An utterly laughable cluster if not such a sorrowful state of affairs. So now CBP has moved 100 of the 250 kids they moved out of what was described as a disgusting CBP detention center claiming that there is no longer an overcapacity issue at CBP while they are also now contesting the deplorable conditions that has been reported and that they were in court defending.

Give me a break. When you are drowning you are drowning. These clowns want to argue about how fast they are drowning? ITS NOT THE MONEY. Its a sadistic administration anxious to punish kids. Can't take Trump and his gang and his ghoulish mob seriously any longer. We never should have.

Fine you want some money...pass a supplemental funding bill with no strings attached and make sure the bill does not allow Fat Donald to move the money anywhere else.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez compares migrant detention facilities to concentration camps - CNNPolitics

It seems to me that she needs to take a trip to see the Holocaust sites and learn more about what actually took place there. Then, she should get off her butt and go to the boarder and see if there is any resemblance to those Holocaust camps and the detention centers at the boarder. See if we are gassing to death or shooting to death masses of people. Then, she should be required to take a college class in Holocaust history by a reliable college in the study of WW2 history. Then, she should go find a job waitressing tables and leave the governing of the country to sane Republicans.

Can you point one out?

There’s no way that Trump’s base is more intelligent than AOC’s base.

That still makes no sense. And I know this area of law inside and out. The commerce clause was mutated by FDR to allow all sorts of federal powers that were never intended. And lots of that is responsible for many of the problems we have today.

It makes sense to someone who has had a farm.

Are you claiming the present case involves only the government dictating what someone has to do with their farm? If you accept government money that has conditions to limit your production, you have to obey those conditions and they check to see that you do. You can't claim you are not marketing your production and comply with the conditions. Government money often has strings attached, so don't take it, if you aren't willing to follow the conditions when it's offered. Read the fine print.

ACADEMICS RALLY BEHIND ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ OVER CONCENTRATION CAMP COMMENTS: 'SHE IS COMPLETELY HISTORICALLY ACCURATE' (Newsweek)
Freshman congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continued to spar with Republicans over her claim that U.S. migrant detention centers are "concentration camps" over the weekend.

Ocasio-Cortez blasted Iowa representative Steve King Sunday after he asked her to visit the site of Nazi death camp Auschwitz with a Holocaust memorial group. Declining his invite, she pointed out King had met with a far-right Austrian group during his own trip to the camp, as The Washington Post noted last October.
(That had to hurt.)
But Ocasio-Cortez continued to defend her use of the term, writing Wednesday: "These camps...fit squarely in an academic consensus and definition." Noting the fact that several migrant children have died in U.S. custody in recent months, she added: "Kids are dying and I'm not here to make people feel comfortable about that."

The term "concentration camp" predates World War II by decades, and has been used to describe numerous detainment facilities. It was first used to describe "reconcentration camps" set up by Spanish general Valeriano Weyler in Cuba in 1897.

It is often used to describe the internment of more than 110,000 people of Japanese descent—many of whom were U.S. citizens— on American soil during World War II.

The term is also used, for example, to describe camps set up by the British in South Africa during the Boer Wars.

*ahem*

THEY ARE LITERALLY REUSING SOME OF THE CAMPS WE USED TO DETAIN JAPANESE PEOPLE

Oh sure, use facts why don't cha? Pure Kryptonite to Trump's base.

Trump would certainly agree with you.

'I love the poorly educated': why white college graduates are deserting Trump

He likes the poorly educated, they tend to be much more gullible, and believe what they're told to believe.

Highly Religious, White Protestants Firm in Support for Trump

Remember when they used to tell us that Trump was playing 3 dimensional chess, as Trump made idiotic move after idiot move? All because Trump had told them how smart he was? :lamo

That's why I propose calling them "Not as bad as the Nazi's Concentration Camps"

And it would tie in nicely with a new America slogan, one I think would reflect much of the Trump base' thinking: "America! We're not as evil as Nazi Germany!"
