US Admits Offensive-Capable US Drone Was in Area When Tanker Was Hit by "Flying Object"

After the president of the Japanese tanker company whose ship was hit in the Gulf of Oman called the US administration's claims that Iran was responsible "false," the Pentagon admitted that at least one US Reaper drone, which fires Hellfire missiles and other munitions, was in the area. The president of the Japanese tanker company insists that the ship was damaged not by an Iranian mine, as the Trump administration contends, but by "flying objects."

Iran has accused the US, or Israel, or a combination of both, of staging the attack, in order to inflame tensions and provide an excuse for an attack on Iran. A military attack on Iran has been a long-held goal of hawkish elements in both the US and Israel.

In February of this year at a meeting in Warsaw with other Arab countries, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said:

"What is important about this meeting. and it is not in secret, because there are many of those—is that this is an open meeting with representatives of leading Arab countries, that are sitting down together with Israel in order to advance the common interest of war with Iran,"....

Update - no evidence offered for any other of the tanker attacks recently.

Mike Pompeo blames Iran for Gulf tanker attacks, without offering evidence - CNNPolitics

"Pompeo spoke hours after the two tankers were attacked and less than a month after four other ships in the region were struck in what appears to be a similar way. National Security Adviser John Bolton blamed Iran for those strikes at the time, again without offering evidence that Tehran was responsible."

To quote another republican president, do you want the proof to be a mushroom cloud? That was said before our invasion of Iraq. And low and behold, no weapons of mass destruction nor was bin laden a friend of saddam. Sounds like the same type of lies starting again to gin up the base for another war in the middle east.

So the president of the tanker company, who wasn't even there, accuses the US of attacking his ships with flying objects in order to inflame tensions so we can attack Iran because the US admits to flying drones in the area.

My first response would be, if that were true, Why would the US be admitting we are flying anything in the area when we fly thousands of drone missions that are not detected, all over the world. Sounds made up.

That hole wasn't created by a projectile. It was created by an attached explosive charge next to the hull.

Had a projectile, or some kind of excelerated penetrator struck the hull, the whole would be round and uniformed.

If you want to insist that U.S. servicemen committed a war crime, then you can push that unpatriotic bull**** all you want.

The bush administration in my opinion did commit a war crime when they sent troops to 'free' iraq from the evil saddam. And don't tell me about being unpatriotic, you sound like the republicans back when they supported bush and the push for war. Beside that, my father in law who is still alive was a combat veteran of world war two, a jewish veteran. Go push your unpatriotic bullcrap somewhere else. The gop has become the party of unpatriotic supporting a president who is clearly mixed up with russia.

isn't it convienent on the very day that Iran was meeting Japan Primeminster, out of thousands of tanker the one tanker that was attacked was the very japanse tanker.

I don't think trump is lying, pompeo is the one lying and trump is just going along. He has no proof to back up his accusations.
