This is the wife that was purchased on the open market, who's exploits have been a increasing part of the picture. Every month there is a new real story about this person who married a pile of **** for money.

an article or something elaborating a bit more on what you're talking about would be nice

is this called quite opposition? I said what I wanted.

I think he just wanted to vent about how comparing Melanie Trump to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis is not reasonable, because they're in separate leagues.

Or something like that.

I can't imagine Jackie O. doing nude sets for men's mags, to be honest. So, I guess that's one obvious difference between the two.

And Melania's husband is treated worse or more unfairly than any other politician in history including JFK ever was, so that's another difference.

Now if his comment was about how both Melania and Jackie stayed married to incorrigible adulterers ....

Trash gets treated like trash. If Trump wanted to be treated like an upstanding person, he should've tried being one.

Ummmmm .... that's an interesting response.

The usual response I think is disgust that Trump would say that he was treated worse or more unfairly than presidents who were assassinated.

I mean, they're not really the same thing. I'm sure JFK was treated better in general, by the media and other politicians, because he was a more upstanding person who commanded that respect. Honestly, the assassination doesn't really factor into that for me.

I don't think anyone would be upset at some punk rich trust fund baby with a bad attitude being treated like **** if it wasn't their god emperor Trump.

Trump purchased his wife?

Citation or you are lying.

The unwritten rule in the past is that the press not exploit such things.

That's an understatement. And he's trying to screw up JFK's outstanding Air Force One paint to make it like a trump jet.

As another poster reminded us, there is an unwritten rule that Americans do NOT criticize the spouse or the children of the President, no matter who s/he is.

Just as the media generally do NOT "out" a gay person, unless s/he publicly badmouths gay love

This IS 2019, but it would be refreshing if we could continue to observe some traditional civility and just plain decency.

No, there are limits to that. Remember Billy Carter? Some respect is given, but trump making a statement like this of absurd self-promotion deserves a rebuke. What other first family made a ridiculous claim like that?

Melania has done almost nothing compared to other first ladies. Some were remarkable - Kennedy, Roosevelt, Wilson's wife - others still did other things - and some were worse like Mary Todd Lincoln. She was sort of ignored mostly except when she wore that absurd coat to visit refugee children, and trump's ridiculous narcissism.

A greater victim one will not find. Sad!

Begs the question; what exactly is a 'First Lady', and what is her job description?

Well, then she does represent the Right perfectly

One thinks of all the respect afforded to Michelle Obama by the right-wing.

However, in this case, it is her spouse, Mr. Trump, who is putting the First Lady into the limelight.

How awful it must be to be embarrassed daily by the idiot one married. Little wonder she keeps such a low profile. Arm candy for ceremonies; a trophy wife.

Why? TDS in all it's glory is best viewed when it stands in singular testament to it's author.

With no other distractions, it allows the viewer to draw clean and clear permanent conclusions.....

I felt bad for her for this ... then she whined hyperbolically about how bullied she is .... and I realized they belonged together. She was no young ingenue when she entered into marriage with that slime. She does nothing to put the brakes on his bullying in spite of choosing for herself the ironic cause of taking a stand against other bullying. And then suggests she herself is the most bullied person in the world. Yes, they deserve each other. I don't go out of my way to say anything bad about her, but I no longer defend her as I originally attempted to do.

Nothing “unfair” about it. Trump receives the attention he deserves.

Only so long as First Ladies and their adult children refrain from stepping into the political fray.
