That's not actually what she had said.

She said that it increases pressure to keep dark money loopholes open. Those loopholes have existed before she got it, and there's plenty of dark money and votes for sale now and previous. This is just a dumb propaganda hit piece by those unable or unwilling to actually comprehend what was written. There can be arguments made, that 174K should be sufficient pay even in high cost areas like DC. That the majority of Congress is independently wealthy. That while these loopholes exist, giving Congress more money isn't necessarily incentive for them to close said loopholes.

But she was not saying she herself would be more corrupt if not given a raise. That's stupid.

She didn't say that. Can you quote her and tell us what you disagree with about what she did say?

As far as I'm concerned, their official salary isn't the real issue. It's that the smart ones can and do use a job that's well paid but not close to the top of any service profession like law - it pays a fifth or less of what better lawyers make in the private sector for example - to get rich on things NOT their pay. My own former Sen. Lamar! was a 'public servant' for most of his adult life, and retired worth $30 million or more thanks to a whole series of sweetheart deals he was cut in on because he was a Senator. If you want to whine about something, that's where to focus IMO. It's that corruption like Lamar! participated in was legal. The only ones who get caught, like that idiot with the cash in his freezer, are the very stupid ones. If they're at all competent, they can use their office to get rich totally within the law.

yeah, she is not nearly seasoned enough to be a speaker. I'd just assume she finish out her first term before anyone, from either side, starts talking about her future, good or bad.
