Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump says he would listen if a foreign government approached him with damaging information about a political rival -- and wouldn't necessarily report the contact to the FBI.

"I think you might want to listen," Trump said in an interview with ABC News that aired on Wednesday. "There isn't anything wrong with listening."

It was a stark -- if not entirely surprising -- expression of nonchalance from the President over foreign efforts to influence US politics.

:shock:

Wow!

Trump says he would accept dirt on political rivals from foreign governments - CNNPolitics

Rare, but this leaves me speechless.

Liberal Limericks on Twitter:

First, Trump secured Clinton’s defeat
When foreigners helped him to cheat;
Then nothing was done
About how he won;
So this time, it’s wash/rinse/repeat.

:lamo

How much more do the Democrats need now?

And pulling the CIA from North Korea.

Maybe the Senate will vote him out.

I think you might want to listen

-not-

I will listen to

Do you understand the difference between the words " I think you might want to" and " I will listen to"?

The article has the writer saying " President Donald Trump says he would listen" but then quotes the President as saying "I think you might want to listen," Then quotes Trump "I think I'd want to hear it"

So the CNN writer makes definite accusations on what Trump said but then shows that Trump actually says he just thinks he might, my turn to be a source policeman

There's no top or bottom to that question. The Democratic Party found a way to lose a gimme, lose a shoe-in. I suspect their incompetence startled even Trump- I think he thought it was a gimme, too.
So yeah, the Democrats need all the help they can get.

A bombastically unscrupulous statement by the President who might just be the most unscrupulous man we will ever see in public office.

He is literally inviting interference in our elections by foreigners.

Then again he has opened the door wide to having FBI agents crawling all over his 2020 campaign looking for just the people he is inviting. He will have nobody to blame but himself if they are crawling all over his campaign and thus he will have nothing to whine about.

The "everybody does it" defense is laughable. I would like to say it was below Trump...but its not.

He's literally soliciting more Russian help and another subsequent 'witch hunt'.

Lots of crickets from the Trumpkins on this.

The Cult must not have received their talking points yet.

If you held anymore water for Trump I would think you were a bucket.

Making America Russia Instead.

The Putin-Trump Rowers heave to the pounding beat.

Republicans / Conservatives. They have become what we fought against.

Since Putin returned to the Russian presidency in 2012 with his new agenda to become the Conservative's Conservative globally. In USA the Rowers love it and can't get enough of it.

So this means we won't hear **** about the Steele dossier ever again from Trumpsters on this board, right?

No, because the question was not whether he would use false information reportedly gathered by foreign intelligence and Russia, but whether he would report true information from a foreign source.
